  • Patent number: 5078607
Abstract: A dental implant anchor includes a body portion having a first external wall portion carrying one or more circumferential projections separated by circumferential grooves and, below, a second external wall portion carrying threads. The implant can include a head portion with a smooth external wall; a through-hole and an apical hole passing through the bottom of the implant; and internal structure for engaging a tool for inserting the implant in a passage formed in bone tissue. This internal structure can be in a top portion, or in an internal passage in the body portion of the implant. The method for forming a passage in bone tissue to receive the implant includes forming a passage having a base with a diameter suited to self-tapping of the threaded part of the implant, and, above the base, a larger-diameter section to engage frictionally the circumferential projections.

  • Patent number: 5047277
Abstract: A nested fiberglass structure (10) comprises a plurality of strips (66) each in the shape of a sinusoidal wave (20). The waves (20) have peaks (22) and valleys (24) which have equal amplitudes about a central axis (26). A positioning string (32) is placed over the peaks (22) and into the valleys (24) to provide a guide for the depth of penetration of adjacent strips during nesting of the strips (66). The structure (10) may be formed on an apparatus for manufacturing (46) which forms a continuous web (48) into the strips (66) and nests the strips (66) into the structure (10). The structure (10) may then be wound onto a reel (154) for fabrication into a cylindrical structure (34). The apparatus (136) spirally winds the nested structure (10) around a mandrel (182) to form the cylindrical structure (34).

  • Patent number: 4999929
Abstract: A wall-mounted housing encloses a blower, an antiseptic solution holder, an atomizer pump, and a timer-switch assembly. A front-mounted actuator bar initiates a timer which starts the blower and pump. The atomizer delivers antiseptic solution into the blower discharge for delivery of a vapor mist through the nozzle to the hands of the user for a pre-determined period of time established by the timer. Then the atomizer is shut down by the timer and the blower continues to operate for another predetermined period to dry the hands.

  • Patent number: 4984530
Abstract: A towel dispenser contains two rolls of paper. A bar on the front, when pushed, delivers a short length of wet towel and a short length of dry towel, simultaneously. It also guides the towel dispensed from one of the rolls through a bath of antiseptic hand-cleansing solution. It also releases the system to enable pulling an additional length of toweling from each of the two rolls. Upon release, either towel can be pulled out further manually to produce about ten more inches of towel. The toweling is delivered from both rolls simultaneously, but the towels are used in sequence, the wet towel first and the dry towel next.

  • Patent number: 4906170
Abstract: An apparatus is presented for printing material on an extruded plastic tubing. An extruder forms the plastic tubing of the desired diameter and thickness. The tubing is then drawn through a cooling bath by a pulling mechanism, and cut into desired lengths. The tubing may be dried after the cooling process, and an ink jet printer is utilized to print on the tubing as it is being drawn to be cut. A computer controls the printing process in correlation with the tubing cutter to provide a print signal to the printer in accordance with the desired lengths of tubing. The print heads of the printer are also three-dimensionally adjustable so as to center the printed material on the desired size and length of tubing to be cut.

  • Patent number: 4899277
Abstract: A bore hole scanner includes a light projecting device for projecting a light beam toward a bore hole wall surface. A conical mirror is arranged coaxially with respect to a sonde for condensing light reflected from the bore hole wall surface. An image forming device is arranged in front of the conical mirror. A photoelectric transducing device converts a light signal into an electric signal. Optical fibers introduce an image, which is formed on concentric circles by the image forming device to the photoelectric transducing device. A data processing device scans and extracts signals from the photoelectric transducing device and generates and processes image data indicative of the bore hole wall surface. A sonde position detecting device detects the orientation and position of the sonde. Rotating portions are dispensed with by using the conical mirror and optical fibers, and a linear CCD array can be used as the photoelectric transducing device.

  • Patent number: 4779201
Abstract: An optical head (12) is rotated while a sonde (11) is moved up or down within a bore hole (22), and a beam of light from a light source (22) is projected toward the wall of the bore hole (22) via a lens (21), slit (22), half-mirror (19), mirror (15) and lens (14). Light reflected from the bore hole wall is extracted from the half-mirror (19) via a slit (17) and a photoelectric transducer (18) so that the bore hole wall may be continuously observed. By separating the reflected light into spectral components and processing them, color tone logging and other observations can be performed. The orientation of the sonde (11) is sensed by an azimuth finder (23) and rotation gauge (24), and the inclination of the sonde (11) is sensed by a dipmeter (25). Displacement of the sonde accompanying each unit length of up-or-down movement of the sonde (11) is calculated and the displacements are integrated to obtain the position being observed by the sonde.
