Abstract: A computer-based mixed-use cord stem cells registry system, method and device are provided for developing and maintaining a mixed-used bank of placental and umbilical cord stem cells and for the resultant bank. The cord stem cells, or a fraction thereof, is stored in a bank for the potential use of the donor and potentially the actual family of the donor child or from an unrelated person for whom the cord stem cells are a match. The system makes the cord stem cells available to the family until the blood sample is found to match a non-family member in need of the cord stem cells. At this time the family is given an option of keeping the sample for themselves or of providing it to the non-family member along with current information on the donor family.

Abstract: An apparatus for producing ozone water by accelerated mixing and dissolving of ozone into water due to an enhanced contact efficiency of ozone gas and water with controlled temperature includes a circulation line for circulating ozone water and employs a jet nozzle (4) in a conduit (4) which returns the ozone water from the circulation line into a primary container. This causes negative pressure about the outlet of the nozzle, whereby the ozone gas is sucked into the water which is jetted. Thus, the ozone gas is rapidly mixed and dissolved into the water. Efficiency of stirring of the ozone water is also enhanced. A secondary container is provided in the circulation line, which specially facilitates cooling of the ozone water as well as prevention of freezing.
Abstract: A method is provided for counting cut sheets such as bank notes. A loose bundle of cut sheets is supported in a predetermined posture, and the cut sheets of the supported bundle are successively fed obliquely relative to an edge of each remaining cut sheet of the supported bundle. Passage of a corner of each successively fed cut sheet across a predetermined position is detected, and the resulting detection signal is processed to provide a count of each successively fed cut sheet.
Abstract: A media storage container is constructed from a first universal molded plastic component that is mated with a selected one of a plurality of other components each customized to hold media items of a particular type.
Abstract: Endosseous dental implants having generally cylindrical-shaped or tapering bodies and, in some cases, external threads or ribs over a substantial portion of their external surface, may include internal or external wrench-engaging surfaces at the proximal end portion and include, below a relatively smooth proximal end or neck portion, an external transition zone with a rougher surface, and a body portion having greater surface roughness than the transition zone, or, on the body portion, an HA or TPS coating, to promote attachment of the implant to bone tissue when the implant is placed in a passage formed in bone tissue to receive the implant.
Abstract: A reel assembly comprised of a core having threaded ends and end flanges attached to the threaded ends. The flanges are adapted to be attached to or removed from the threaded ends of the core for retaining the material rolled onto the core. A locking web is provided on the flanges and a locking tab is provided on the core to hold the flanges securely to the core when the reel is to be used. The locking mechanism comprises a locking tab having an inclined edge disposed to extend out from each end of the core and a mating web including an inclined edge disposed on the flanges. When the flanges are fully threaded onto the core, the inclined edge of the web engages the inclined edge of the tab to prevent inadvertent unthreading.
Abstract: Winding cores for the paper industry are restored by removing the metal tips from the ends of the core, trimming the core to eliminate the crimped end portions of the core, providing complementary male and female joint ends to the core, grinding the outer surface of the core to a constant outer diameter less than the industry standard outer diameter to accommodate a finishing layer. The cores with the complementary joints are pressed end to end to form a core master prior to its being ground and then picking up the core masters one by one and bringing them into proximity of a web of liner board material having a length which corresponds to the length of the core master and a width which corresponds to the circumference of the core, contacting the glue bearing liner board web with the core and rotating the core to wrap the web of liner board about the core to provide a finished restored core. The core master is then cut into suitable length winding cores.
Abstract: A dual chamber orifice fitting comprising a first chamber maintained in fluid communication with a pipeline, a fluid flowing in the pipeline passing through the first chamber; a second chamber selectively maintained in fluid communication with the first chamber; a sealing member selectively rotatable from a first position wherein the sealing member seals the first chamber from the second chamber, and a second position wherein the sealing member permits the first chamber to be placed in fluid communication with the second chamber.

Abstract: A surge suppression circuit for gradually charging a capacitance of a device being hot plugged into a system, such as a disk drive being hot plugged into a RAID system. Without reliance on a permanently turned-on series element, such as a pass transistor, the surge suppression circuit uses a trigger circuit in combination with either a current limiting circuit or a slew rate control circuit. The current limiting circuit relies on a current sensing resistor in combination with a transistor that turns on when a voltage reaches a certain level across the current sensing resistor. The slew rate control circuit relies on a feedback mechanism that includes a capacitor and a resistor for maintaining a substantially constant rate of charging the capacitance of the device being hot plugged.
Abstract: An apparatus for photographing the ground continuously from an airplane, and for recording the photographed images in digital form in real time. A three-line sensor camera comprising a forward-oblique line sensor, a vertical line sensor and a backward-oblique line sensor is on board. The three-line sensor camera has a gyro integrally connected thereto. Data of the camera's attitude available from the gyro, digital data of the land images available from the camera and data of the airplane's position available from an airborne GPS are recorded and reproduced. The camera is controlled with the aid of the gyro so that its optical axis may be held in a vertical direction at all times.
Abstract: A knockdown reel comprised of a core having threaded ends and end flanges attached to the threaded ends.
