Abstract: A method for making a heat-resistant roll includes pre-selecting a plurality of heat-resistant disks and pressing at least a selected portion of the pre-selected disks together such that a total axial thickness of the pressed disks relative to a total axial thickness of the selected disks prior to pressing is within a predetermined range.
Abstract: Automatic configuration of cell assignment of non-Inter-Cell Interference Coordination (ICIC)-engaged remote units in a wireless distribution communications system (WDCS) to non-ICIC-engaged WDCS cells to avoid or reduce dividing radio resources. The WDCS is configured to identify which remote units are “ICIC-engaged remote units.” A cell assignment configuration circuit is configured to identify ICIC-engaged WDCS cell(s) (i.e., in ICIC relation with a neighboring cell) among the WDCS cells in the WDCS, based on determining the WDCS cells assigned to ICIC-engaged remote units. The cell assignment configuration circuit is configured to determine a cell assignment configuration for the WDCS based on reassigning non-ICIC-engaged remote units assigned to the identified ICIC-engaged WDCS cells to non-ICIC-engaged WDCS cells. In this manner, radio resources for servicing non-ICIC-engaged remote units are not divided among non-ICIC-engaged remote units.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are apparatuses and methods for drawing sheet glass. More particularly, one or more sets of edge rolls can be configured to have a rotation axis angled away from a line orthogonal to the direction of flow of a ribbon of glass and positioned so as to contact the glass in the viscous region of the draw. Through control over the orientation and position of the one or more sets of edge rolls, sheet width attenuation may be eliminated, thickness of the beads that form along the edges of the glass sheet may be reduced, and instabilities associated with sheet width variation may be eliminated.

Abstract: An apparatus for inspecting an edge portion of a substrate can inspect a defect or a chamfered width on an edge portion of a substrate. First and second right-angled prisms are disposed above and below the edge portion such that inclined surfaces thereof are directed toward the upper surface and lower surface of the edge portion. A lighting part irradiates the edge portion of the substrate with light. A photographing part is disposed adjacent to the edge portion. The photographing part takes an image of the upper surface of the edge portion from light that has passed through the first right-angled prism, an image of the lower surface of the edge portion from light that has passed through the second right-angled prism, and an image of an end surface of the edge portion.
Abstract: Individualized gain control of remote uplink band paths in a remote unit in a wireless communication system based on combined uplink power level in the remote unit. The combined uplink power of a combined uplink communications signal in a remote unit is measured. If the combined uplink power level exceeds a defined uplink threshold power level for the remote unit, the gain is reduced for individual uplink band paths that provide a higher power contribution to the combined uplink power of combined uplink communications signal in the remote unit. This allows the initial uplink gain of the uplink band paths in a remote unit to be set higher to increase sensitivity, because the gain of the uplink band paths providing higher power contributions to the combined uplink power in the remote unit can be reduced, without reducing gain in other uplink band paths of the remote unit.
Abstract: A coaxial cable connector for coupling an end of a coaxial cable to a terminal is disclosed. The connector has a post assembled with a coupler. The post is adapted to receive an end of the coaxial cable and comprises a front end, an enlarged shoulder at the front end, and a plurality of contacting portions. The contacting portions are of monolithic construction with the post, collectively circumscribe the enlarged shoulder at the front end of the post, and extend in a generally perpendicular orientation with respect to a longitudinal axis of the connector. The coupler is rotatably attached to the post and comprises an internally projecting lip, having a forward facing surface, adapted to couple the connector to the terminal. The contacting portions are configured to contact the forward facing surface of the lip of the coupler.

Abstract: Methods are provided for laser processing arbitrary shapes of molded 3D thin transparent brittle parts from substrates with particular interest in substrates formed from strengthened or non-strengthened Corning Gorilla® glass (all codes). The developed laser methods can be tailored for manual separation of the parts from the panel or full laser separation by thermal stressing the desired profile. Methods can be used to form 3D surfaces with small radii of curvature. The method involves the utilization of an ultra-short pulse laser that may be optionally followed by a CO2 laser for fully automated separation.

Abstract: A system for sealing large volumes or gaps includes a flexible envelope that can assume the shape of the volume when filled with a foaming composition that expands the envelope to the boundaries of the volume. The foaming composition may be integral with the envelope or delivered in bulk by an external device. The foaming composition may be one or multiple parts, typically two parts such as a poly isocyanate and a polyols, in which case it is necessary to keep the two parts separate until foaming is desired. Separation may be accomplished by providing multiple compartments that deliver components via a mixing device into the interior. The envelope may include ribs for structural strength and shaping, and leak pores around its perimeter to enhance bonding and sealing. It may also include perforations for bulk, modular seals or for separation of portions of the envelope to seal irregular shapes.

Abstract: A phase locked loop (PLL) provides output signals at multiple frequencies. In particular, the PLL includes a phase detector and two voltage controlled oscillators (VCOs). One of the VCOs is selectively enabled depending on a desired output signal. The phase detector receives a reference signal and a feedback signal from the enabled one of the two VCOs. The phase detector outputs a control signal that controls the VCO that provided the feedback signal.
Abstract: Extrusion systems and methods with temperature control are disclosed. The ceramic batch material is flowed through a front section wherein the temperature of the batch material is locally adjusted through its perimeter at multiple locations. The temperature-adjusted ceramic batch material is then extruded through the extrusion die to form the extrudate. Temperatures of the extrudate at multiple outer surface locations having different azimuthal positions are measured. The temperature adjustment of the ceramic batch material is then controlled in a first feedback loop to control the shape of the extrudate based on the measured outer surface temperatures. The front section can also be cooled using a second control loop.
