Publication number: 20090239549Abstract: A method, system and computer program product for enhancing the acquisition of data from a wireless access point during a window of acquisition. A wireless device in a vehicle obtains a list of wireless access points positioned along a route being traveled by a user of the wireless device. The wireless device acquires its current location and identifies the closest upcoming wireless access point in connection with its current location. If the wireless device had previously had a session with the upcoming wireless access point, then the wireless device continues sending packets to the upcoming wireless access point from the point of previous termination with the upcoming wireless access point until the session is restarted. The wireless device then accesses data from the upcoming wireless access point during the remaining window of acquisition.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 18, 2008Publication date: September 24, 2009Applicant: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Travis M. Publication number: 20090239572Abstract: A method and system for improving a level of service between wireless devices. Handheld devices implementing the Bluetooth specification typically have relatively limited transmission ranges. As a result, and since they are typically portable, such devices easily experience abrupt communication interruptions, either between themselves and other handheld devices, or between themselves and fixed devices. The effective range of the devices can be extended by providing additional error-correcting coding. Although this modification also results in an extended transmission time, users are provided with an increased transmission range, and are given warning that service may soon be interrupted. Users may then, if they wish, take such steps as finishing their communication or moving into their devices' normal transmission range. Additionally, the handheld devices may use the extra transmission time and range to search for a forwarding path to a recipient device, thus minimizing or preventing any service interruption.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 17, 2009Publication date: September 24, 2009Applicant: BROADCOM CORPORATIONInventor: Martin George Morris

Publication number: 20090231779Abstract: In a multilayer capacitor, widths of lead conductors of internal electrode and widths of lead conductors of internal electrode in an ESR control section are smaller than any one of widths of internal electrode and widths of internal electrode in a capacitance section. This narrows cross sections of the conductor portions connecting between the internal electrodes and the external electrodes, so as to her increase ESR. The widths of the respective lead conductors in the ESR control section are wider than widths of respective lead conductors in the capacitance section. This effectively prevents open failure and improves a yield of products.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 29, 2009Publication date: September 17, 2009Applicant: TDK CORPORATIONInventor: Takashi AOKI

Publication number: 20090234832Abstract: Described is a technology by which a keyword may be expanded into related words, such as for use in information retrieval. The terms comprising words and/or phrases of a large number of documents (e.g., web pages) are processed into a graph data structure, in which the terms are represented as nodes and edges represent the relationships between the nodes, with weights for each edge representing the relevance of the relationship. The graph may be built by selecting each term of a document and considering the terms within a certain number of words to be associated with the selected term; for each such association the weight indicative of the relevance is increased. When the graph is accessed with a keyword, the edges from that keyword's node and their respective weights indicate which other nodes are most relevant to the keyword, thereby providing the corresponding expanded terms.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 12, 2008Publication date: September 17, 2009Applicant: MICROSOFT CORPORATIONInventors: Chi Gao, Mingyu Wang, Weibin Zhu

Publication number: 20090233442Abstract: In a metal film production apparatus, a copper plate member is etched with a Cl2 gas plasma within a chamber to form a precursor comprising a Cu component and a Cl2 gas; and the temperatures of the copper plate member and a substrate and a difference between their temperatures are controlled as predetermined, to deposit the Cu component of the precursor on the substrate, thereby forming a film of Cu. In this apparatus, Cl* is formed in an excitation chamber of a passage communicating with the interior of the chamber to flow a Cl2 gas, and the Cl* is supplied into the chamber to withdraw a Cl2 gas from the precursor adsorbed onto the substrate, thereby promoting a Cu film formation reaction. The apparatus has a high film formation speed, can use an inexpensive starting material, and can minimize impurities remaining in the film.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 26, 2009Publication date: September 17, 2009Applicant: CANON ANELVA CORPORATIONInventors: Hitoshi Sakamoto, Naoki Yahata, Toshihiko Nishimori, Yoshiyuki Ooba, Hiroshi Tonegawa, Ikumasa Koshiro, Yuzuru Ogura
