Publication number: 20080316006Abstract: A method and system for communicating vehicle diagnostic data to a vehicle service provider employs sensors for generating sensor signals indicative of the status or condition of vehicle components. A diagnostics module in the vehicle generates diagnostic data based on the sensor signals and transfers the diagnostic data to a communications module of a hands-free phone system in the vehicle. The communications module wirelessly communicates the diagnostic data to a Bluetooth enabled cell phone in the vehicle using Bluetooth communications. The cell phone communicates the diagnostic data to an Internet server via the Internet. The provider accesses the diagnostic data from the Internet server using a computer connected to the Internet to determine if any of the vehicle components are in need of repair or maintenance. The provider notifies a user of the vehicle of any vehicle component that is in need of repair or maintenance.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 22, 2007Publication date: December 25, 2008Applicant: LEAR CORPORATIONInventors: Jason G. Publication number: 20080314666Abstract: An acceleration control system controls acceleration of a vehicle to match the driver's feeling. In this control, the vehicle is controlled so that acceleration remains constant at the initial stage and then a differentiated value of a square power of a vehicle speed remains constant. This control is based on the finding of a normal acceleration operation attained by a driver. A linear relation exists between the acceleration in the initial stage of acceleration and the differentiated value of the square power of the speed. Switching of control from the constant acceleration to the constant differentiated value of the square power of the speed is made at a change-over speed determined by the linear relation.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 24, 2008Publication date: December 25, 2008Applicant: DENSO CORPORATIONInventors: Hiroshi Inou, Minoru Okada, Seiji Totsuka

Publication number: 20080316972Abstract: A method of and apparatus for handover between a 3GPP based network and a non-3GPP network is disclosed where a policy update to a new gateway is requested. A confirmation of the policy update is sent from the policy and charging rules function (PCRF) to the 3GPP packet data network gateway (PDN GW). The new gateway also confirms the policy update to the currently serving gateway. The tunnel endpoints and radio resources are released between the PDN GW and the evolved Packet Data Gateway (ePDG), thereby freeing the resources previously used by the wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU). A release acknowledgement is sent from the serving gateway to the PCRF confirming the policy update process is complete. The method may be used for handover between 3GPP and non-3GPP networks and vice versa. The method and apparatus may be practiced over the S2b or S2c interfaces.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 20, 2008Publication date: December 25, 2008Applicant: INTERDIGITAL TECHNOLOGY CORPORATIONInventor: Kamel M. Publication number: 20080313213Abstract: Described is a technology by which high dimensional source data corresponding to rows of records with identifiers, and columns comprising dimensions of data values, are processed into a file model for efficient access. An inverted index corresponding to any dimension is built by mapping data from raw dimension values to mapped values based on mapping entries in a dimension table. The record identifiers are arranged into subgroups based on their mapped value; a count and/or an offset may be maintained for locating each of the subgroups. The raw values for a dimension are maintained within a raw value file. For sparse data, the raw value file may be compressed, e.g., by excluding nulls and associating a record identifier with each non-null. A data manager provides access to data in the data files, such as by offering various functions, using caching for efficiency.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 15, 2007Publication date: December 18, 2008Applicant: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Haidong Zhang, Guowei Liu, Yantao Li, Bing Sun, Jian Wang

Publication number: 20080312806Abstract: An exhaust gas discharged from a combustion chamber of each cylinder flows near an air-fuel ratio sensor via a junction. An ECU estimates an air-fuel ratio of each cylinder based upon a sensing value of an air-fuel ratio sensor. When a variation in the air-fuel ratio among the cylinders is equal to or greater than a predetermined value, the ECU determines that an abnormality exists in the air-fuel ratio. When a quantity of the exhaust gas discharged from each cylinder is less than another predetermined value, an intake air quantity is increased and ignition timing is delayed before the determination of presence or absence of the abnormality.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 3, 2008Publication date: December 18, 2008Applicant: DENSO CORPORATIONInventor: Kuniaki Ueda

Publication number: 20080308399Abstract: A switch (50) is adapted to be On when a contact point (52) is at a position to be in contact with a cam surface (47) and Off when the contact point (52) is at a position corresponding to a non-cam surface (48). In the vicinity of the non-cam surface (48) of the cam surface (47), a rib (49) is provided which changes a direction of the contact point (52) when reciprocation of the cam member (43) is changed. Accordingly, even when the switch (50) comes into contact with the cam member (43) moving in a different direction, the direction of the contact point (52) is changed so as to be the same. Hence, the switch (50) is prevented from being affected by a hysteresis caused by difference in directions of the contact point (52).Type: ApplicationFiled: July 7, 2005Publication date: December 18, 2008Applicant: PIONEER CORPORATIONInventors: Eiji Hoshinaka, Hitoshi Ueno, Yukinari Makisaka
