Abstract: A method for activating a distinctive ring-tone can include the steps of extracting caller identifying data from an incoming phone call; comparing the caller identifying data to data in a caller list; determining whether the caller is authorized to activate a distinctive ring-tone based upon the comparison; and, activating a distinctive ring-tone if the caller is authorized and if a request to activate a distinctive ring-tone can be detected in the incoming phone call. The extracting step can include the step of extracting a source phone number from the incoming phone call. The determining step can include the step of determining whether the caller has been included in the caller list as an authorized caller. Conversely, the determining step comprises the step of determining whether the caller has been included in the caller list as an unauthorized caller.

Abstract: According to one aspect of the invention, a method is provided in which a mean vector set and a variance vector set of a set of N Gaussians are divided into multiple mean sub-vector sets and variance sub-vector sets, respectively. Each mean sub-vector set contains a subset of the dimensions of the corresponding mean vector set and each variance sub-vector set contains a subset of the dimensions of the corresponding variance vector set. Each resultant sub-vector set is clustered to build a codebook for the respective sub-vector set using a modified K-means clustering process which dynamically merges and splits clusters based upon the size and average distortion of each cluster during each iteration in the modified K-means clustering process.
Abstract: An exposure apparatus exposes a substrate by projecting an image of a predetermined pattern through a liquid onto the substrate. The exposure apparatus includes a projection optical system which projects the image of the pattern onto the substrate, a liquid supply mechanism which supplies the liquid onto the substrate to form a liquid immersion area on a part of the substrate including a projection area of the projection optical system, a liquid recovery mechanism which recovers the liquid on the substrate at a liquid recovery position apart from the projection area, and a trap member which is arranged outside the liquid recovery position of the liquid recovery mechanism with respect to the projection area and which is formed with a liquid trap surface for capturing the liquid.
Abstract: An inverse flextensional projector exhibits a low frequency flexural mode and a higher frequency “breathing” mode to defeat stealthy targets and to conduct short and long range detection and tracking in littoral waters. The device has much broader bandwidth than conventional flextensional transducers, slotted cylinders and conventional cylinder transducers. The device has a low frequency capability similar to slotted cylinder projectors (SCP) but is broader band and does not suffer from the unsupported gap of SCP projectors. The invention has a more uniform radiation velocity than both SCP and flextensional transducers, making it much less susceptible to cavitation limitations.
Abstract: In at least one hardware definition language (HDL) file, at least one design entity containing a functional portion of a digital system is specified. The design entity logically contains first and second latches each having a respective plurality of different possible latch values. With one or more statements, a first Dial instance is associated with the first latch and a second Dial instance is associated with the second latch. A setting of the first Dial instance thus controls which of the plurality of different possible values is loaded in the first latch, and a setting of the second Dial instance controls which of the plurality of different possible values is loaded in the second latch. With a statement, a Register instance is concurrently associated with both the first and the second latches, such that a setting of the Register instance controls the latch values loaded in both the first and second latches.

Abstract: A method and system are disclosed for controlling radio communications between a terminal (MS, TE) and a communications system (CN, GRAN). A communications connection between the system and the terminal is established by an active radio network controller (RNC) and an active base station (BS). In one embodiment, data communications within the communications connection is directed to the active radio controller by a second radio network controller.
Abstract: An apparatus and method to check integrity when handling data. The method provides a storage array which includes a plurality of sectors. The method defines (N) data state identifiers and (N) parity state identifiers. The method receives a command to handle data, where that command designates a target sector. The method determines the data state identifier assigned to the target sector, determines the parity state identifier assigned to the target sector, and compares the data state identifier and the parity state identifier. If the method determines that the data state identifier and the parity state identifier are the same, the method performs the command to handle data. Alternatively, if the method determines that the data state identifier and the parity state identifier differ, the method generates an error message.

Abstract: A non-volatile memory device is programmed by first performing a coarse programming process and subsequently performing a fine programming process. The coarse/fine programming methodology is enhanced by using an efficient verification scheme that allows some non-volatile memory cells to be verified for the coarse programming process while other non-volatile memory cells are verified for the fine programming process. The fine programming process can be accomplished using current sinking, charge packet metering or other suitable means.

Abstract: An organic electroluminescent element is characterized by having a light emitting layer (503) containing a fluoranthene derivative and emitting green light. The fluoranthene derivative is introduced as a guest into the light emitting layer, and, by using an organic material having a fluorescence spectrum overlapping the absorption spectrum of the fluoranthene derivative, e.g., an arylanthracene derivative as a host, the organic electroluminescent element advantageously emits green light with satisfactorily excellent light emission efficiency and high color purity and has higher reliability.
Abstract: A lens-equipped optical waveguide device for a touch panel includes an optical waveguide including an under cladding layer, and a plurality of cores formed on a surface of the under cladding layer with respective ends in parallel along one edge portion of the under cladding layer; and a lens device having amounting surface for placing the optical waveguide, and a lens formed in an end portion of the mounting surface. The one edge portion has an end surface which abuts the lens when the optical waveguide is placed on the lens device. The lens device is formed with a protrusion on its abutting surface for abutting the end surface, while the end surface is formed with a recess complementary to the protrusion so that the protrusion and the recess are meshed to cause the end surface and the abutting surface to be in intimate contact with each other.
Abstract: A fabricating method of a TFT includes first forming a source on a substrate. Then, a first insulation pattern layer is formed to cover parts of the source and the substrate. The first insulation pattern layer has an opening exposing a part of the source. Thereafter, a gate pattern layer is formed on the first insulation pattern layer. Then, the gate pattern layer and a second insulation pattern layer formed thereon surround the opening. Moreover, a second lateral protection wall is formed on an edge of the gate pattern layer in the opening. Afterwards, a channel layer is formed in the opening and covers the second lateral protection wall and the source. Then, a passivation layer with a contact window is formed on the channel layer and the second insulation pattern layer to expose a portion of the channel layer. Thereafter, a drain is formed on the exposed channel layer.
Abstract: A method and system for remote binding of meta-content to a uniform resource indicator are provided. The method includes providing a script to a web browser application in response to the web browser, application accessing the uniform resource identifier of a content provider system and requesting an asset therefrom. The script is generated by a remote server system and is provided to the web browser application by routing the web browser application from the content provider system to the remote server system. The method also includes receiving a call from the web browser application at the remote server system via the script. The call includes the uniform resource identifier of the content provider system. Using the uniform resource identifier, the remote server system queries a data source to determine whether meta-content for the asset is available.

Abstract: A fan control architecture is provided for controlling system fan(s) on a computing system that has multiple nodes, a system management network and a fan control module. On each of the nodes a management module is configured to collect system information thereon. In a main fan control scheme, a system management node controls the system fan through the fan control module according to the temperature data sent back from the management module of the other nodes through the system management network. The fan control scheme includes redundant path(s) connected between all the nodes and the fan control module to send high-temperature signals to the fan control module directly. In the case that a threshold high temperature is reached, the fan control module will set the system fan at a predetermined high speed according to the high-temperature signals.
