  • Patent number: 7453299
Abstract: Programmable dynamic amplifiers with hysteresis are provided. The hysteretic amplifiers have a first input voltage threshold when the output voltage is at a high voltage and a second input voltage threshold when the output voltage is at a low voltage. A multiplexer controls the hysteretic threshold voltages in response to the output signal of the amplifier. The hysteretic amplifiers can be programmed to have positive or negative hysteresis. When the amplifier is programmed with positive hysteresis, the output voltage transitions after the input voltages have both reached a common voltage value. When the amplifier is programmed with negative hysteresis, the output voltage transitions before the input voltages have both reached a common voltage value.

  • Patent number: 7454205
Abstract: A startup process of an access point (AP) includes a discovery phase and an announcement phase. During the discovery phase, the AP detects neighboring APs from its own extended service set (ESS), neighboring APs from different ESSs, and external sources of interference. During the announcement phase, the AP transmits its beacon signals at maximum power in order to accelerate recognition by neighboring APs running the discovery phase. An automatic initialization channel selection process of an AP scans channels the AP will use to communicate. Information of each scanned channel is recorded and a best performance channel is determined for use by the AP.

  • Patent number: 7454716
Abstract: The subject invention provides for systems and methods that improve visualization of messages in a user's inbox. The systems and methods cluster messages into four groups: unaccessed, unaccessed and pending; pending; and read. This allows a user to more efficiently handle large volumes of messages in a prioritized way. Additionally, it supports a seamless flow between triage of new messages, management of recently received messages, and retrieval of recent as well as older messages for the user. Messages can include conversations between a user and one or more contacts, email (electronic mail) messages, voice messages, images, documents, tasks, as well as other forms of media. In one aspect of the invention, messages can be organized and/or prioritized into any of at least four clusters, whereby the four clusters appear in the order of unaccessed, unaccessed and pending, pending, and accessed.

  • Patent number: 7453731
Abstract: In a non-volatile memory, a selected page on a word line is successively programmed by a series of voltage pulses of a staircase waveform with verifications in between the pulses until the page is verified to a designated pattern. The programming voltage at the time the page is programmed verified will be to estimate the initial value of a starting programming voltage for the page. The estimation is further refined by using the estimate from a first pass in a second pass. Also, when the test is over multiple blocks, sampling of word lines based on similar geometrical locations of the blocks can yield a starting programming voltage optimized for faster programming pages.

  • Publication number: 20080279345
Abstract: A system and method for controlling, by an outside entity, one or more devices associated with a location. A representative embodiment of the system architecture comprises an internal computer system through which a device may be remotely controlled by the outside entity during a communication session between the outside entity and the internal computer system through an external computer network. The external computer network can be the Internet. When the outside entity is requested to control the device, the outside entity's identity information is authenticated before the communication session is established. In a preferred embodiment, the internal computer system is protected by a firewall. The firewall allows the outside entity to access the internal computer system to control the device if the outside entity can provide proper identity information. The identity information of the outside entity may be a password that is recognized by the firewall.

  • Publication number: 20080280577
Abstract: This disclosure addresses providing gigabit-rate data transmission over wireless radio links, using carrier frequencies in the millimeter-wave range (>30 GHz). More specifically, a circuit for detection of amplitude-shift keyed (ASK) or other amplitude modulations (AM) which can be easily incorporated into an integrated circuit receiver system is described, making the receiver capable of supporting both complex IQ modulation schemes and simpler, non-coherent on-off or multiple-level keying signals. Several novel radio architectures are also described which, with the addition of a frequency discriminator network, have the capability of handling frequency shift keyed (FSK) or other frequency modulations (FM), as well as AM and complex IQ modulation schemes. These radio architectures support this wide variety of modulations by efficiently sharing detector hardware components.

  • Publication number: 20080277192
Abstract: A microcomputer is provided with an extracting section capable of extracting a specific frequency component from an input signal. The extracting section extracts, from a pinion angle corresponding to a signal indicating the state of a steering system, a frequency component corresponding to a vibration that increases generation of a rattling noise in a speed reducing mechanism. The extracting section outputs an effective value of the extracted frequency component as a power spectrum. If the power spectrum output from the extracting section is equal to or more than a predetermined threshold value, the microcomputer outputs a motor control signal to reduce the assist force generated by the EPS actuator.
