  • Patent number: 10674200
Abstract: A last viewed zone comprising video streams of a predetermined number of last viewed channels is provided. Channels selected by a user are identified and added to a channel list, which is maintained and stored in a temporary repository. When a selection of the last viewed zone is received, a last viewed zone user interface comprising a predetermined number of channels from the channel list is generated for display on the user's display device in a mosaic fashion such that the video streams of each of the channels may be viewed simultaneously. Additional functionalities like audio may be provided for the video stream of user's choice. The channels within the channel list may include the last channels tuned-to on the viewing device and user selected channels.

  • Publication number: 20200145178
Abstract: Embodiments of the disclosure are generally directed to disabling sounding, resource-block allocation, and various full-duplex (FDX) capabilities in a portion of a spectrum used in FDX-enabled cable networks. The disclosure further describes dynamically using an upstream mode or a downstream mode of communication for half-duplex communication in the portion of the spectrum originally designated for FDX communication, for a given time interval. In another embodiment, the disclosure can thereby facilitate an increase in upstream or downstream capacity on the cable network, for example, a fifteen-fold increase in the upstream capacity or downstream capacity. In some embodiments, control messages can be transmitted from a controller node to devices on the network periodically, describing the usage of the FDX portion of the spectrum for upstream or downstream transmission. The control messages can include medium access control (MAC) management messages and/or tag-length-value (TLV) messages.

  • Publication number: 20200145345
Abstract: Described herein include systems, methods, and apparatuses for the scheduling of data over a network (e.g., a wired or wireless network). A scheduler may be configured to receive a portion of packets at a receiving buffer and classify the packets into real time packets or non-real time packets using associated first and second queues. Further, a first re-transmission component may receive the real time packets from the first queue, and a second re-transmission component may receive the non-real time packets from the second queue. The real time packets may be received, by a transmission component, from the first re-transmission component; the transmission component may also receive non-real time packets from the second re-transmission component. The scheduler may then transmit at least one real time packet or non-real time packet to another device over a network using any suitable scheduling algorithm.

  • Patent number: 10637704
Abstract: The systems and methods disclosed herein are generally directed to the real-time symbol rate of modulation modification based on noise and interference detection on a received signal during data transmission across a network. In one embodiment, a receiving device can measure the power of affected carriers, subcarriers, and/or tones. In one embodiment, adaptive bit loading can be used such that a lower order modulation scheme can be used to overcome through the noise and increase the Signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the transmitted signal. In one embodiment, more throughput (for example, more bps/Hz) can be achieved in the network by using subcarriers that have a higher SNR. Further, the bit-loading can serve to maximize the data rate subject to power and bit-error ratio (BER) constraints of the network.

  • Patent number: 10560303
Abstract: The systems and methods disclosed herein are generally directed to the real-time modification of symbol rates, during modulation, based on performance metrics such as noise and traffic levels. • Patent number: 10541774
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide a technical solution that enables various passive optical network (PON) type infrastructures to coexist with dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) network infrastructures. According to an embodiment, an optical communication network framework uses an optical coexistence topology to enable coexistence of PON type components and DWDM components. An optical coexistence system uses an optical coexistor to convey an upstream optical signal to one of an arrayed wave grating (AWG) of a DWDM system and an optical line terminal (OLT) of a PON by conveying unfiltered portions of the upstream optical signal to the OLT and filtered portions of the upstream optical signal to the AWG.
