Abstract: A method and system for monitoring the quality of the content is provided. The method and system may identify, in real time, whether the quality of the content has fallen below a predetermined threshold. Once the quality of the content has fallen below a predetermined threshold, the system may identify other delivery mechanisms (e.g., connectivity options and/or other sources) to deliver the content at a lower constant bitrate. Subsequently, the system may check for higher quality content and provide the user with options to switch to the other source. Accordingly, the method and system identifies the available video quality options for a specific content item, which may be provided by a plurality of different content sources, and provides the user with the ability to switch to another content source with minimal user input.

Abstract: This disclosure describes system and methods related to entitlement validation and quality control of content in a cloud-enabled network-based digital video recording system. In some embodiments, whether a record event exists may be determined. The record event may indicate an entitlement check associated with a content asset needs to be completed. A determination may be made as to whether a user account is authorized to access the content asset. An asset record associated with the content asset may be modified to prevent future recording of the content asset. A record to delete the content asset may be generated in association with the user account in response to determining the user account is not authorized to access the content asset. The record event may be removed.

Abstract: A multi-modal digital terminal adapter (DTA), and associated methods and computer-readable media, are disclosed for determining a current mode of operation of the DTA, selectively activating and/or deactivating one or more receiving modules based at least in part on the current mode of operation, and routing an incoming signal to one or more receiving modules based at least in part on one or more characteristics of the signal to initiate processing of the signal in accordance with the current mode of operation for the multi-modal DTA.

Abstract: Systems and methods for facilitating purchases of broadband content and services are provided. A request to purchase broadband content or a broadband service may be received by a server from a customer device. A transaction associated with the received purchase request may be completed in real-time. Based upon the completion of the transaction, one of (i) access rights associated with the broadband content or (ii) a feature set associated with the broadband service may be altered. The requested broadband content or broadband service is then made available to the customer.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure include methods, devices and systems for a millimeter wave (MMW) last mile delivery system. A multi-wavelength fiber link may be provided from a collector terminal node area to a central office. One or more streams of data may be wirelessly transmitted from the collector terminal node area to user equipment. Based at least in part on the one or more streams of data, multi-gigabit Ethernet may then be provided to the user equipment utilizing an analog or digital modulation scheme over one or more channels.

Abstract: Caller specific information is linked to a call using a key for database retrieval of caller specific data. A pool of rolling Automatic Number Identification (ANI) codes is maintained. A call is received at a rolling ANI device. A rolling ANI is assigned to the call. The assigned rolling ANI is provided in a field identifying the call. The call and the assigned rolling ANI in the field identifying the call is routed to a call handler. A voice path and data associated with the call is received at the call handler. The data is parsed to determine a rolling ANI associated with the call. Caller specific information is obtained from a database record in a database identified by the rolling ANI. The obtained caller specific information is used to process the call seamlessly without prompting the caller for information in the database record associated with the rolling ANI.

Abstract: A system for providing multimedia content via a cable television distribution network in response to input received from a personal communication device. The system interacts with personal communication devices configured with downloaded system application computer software to receive and present information associated with multimedia content from the infrastructure via a data communication network. The system also interacts with the personal communication devices to receive data from the personal communication devices via a data communication network where the data comprises, but is not limited to, data representative of selections of multimedia content, data representative of instructions controlling the delivery and/or presentation of the multimedia content, and data identifying end user cable television network interface devices to receive the multimedia content.

Abstract: A customized programming guide mosaic screen is provided. A user may selectively customize a mosaic display of video content items provided in a programming guide screen. One or more options may be provided for customizing the programming guide mosaic screen. The one or more options may include an option for populating the programming guide mosaic screen with recommended video content, an option for populating the programming guide mosaic screen with video content items with metadata that is similarly matched with a selected video content item or with a video content item currently being viewed by the user, or an option for populating the programming guide mosaic screen with one or more video content items associated with a specific mood. Upon selection of an option, currently airing content matching the selected option may populate one or more video panes in the mosaic display of the programming guide screen.

Abstract: Certain embodiments herein relate to a hybrid cable that includes a center conductor for distributing electrical signals and one or more optical fibers adjacent to the center conductor for distributing light signals in a service provider network. According to one configuration, materials found in a coaxial cable may be included in the hybrid cable, such as a dielectric material, one or more protective shields, and an outer protective core. Such a hybrid cable may be utilized to replace drop cables in a service provider network, which may connect an access point, such as a tap, to a customer location. Certain embodiments herein may also relate to making and installing the hybrid cable.

Abstract: A determination of a minimum data transfer rate needed to effectively perform a data transfer activity is provided. If the minimum data transfer rate needed to effectively perform the activity is greater than the amount of bandwidth available according to an associated subscription tier, a notification may be provided to a subscriber that a bandwidth adjustment is available and may be desirable for a better quality experience of the data transfer activity. The notification may be in the form of a text message, an email, a pop-up window, or a user interface control, and may include a selectable functionality, which when selected, may send a request to adjust the amount of bandwidth available to the subscriber.

Abstract: This disclosure describes systems, methods, and computer-readable media related to a dynamic advertising insertion infrastructure. A stream setup message associated with a stream content request may be received. Setup information associated with the stream content request may be identified. A non-entertainment playlist selected based on, at least in part, the setup information may be received. The stream setup message may be modified, wherein the modified stream setup message comprises at least one or more references to the non-entertainment content. The modified stream setup message may be routed to a streamer system. A first response message may be received by the router from the streamer system based at least in part on the second stream setup message. A second response message that comprises at least one or more references to the second content may be received by the router. The second response message may be routed by the router to a back office.

Abstract: Systems and methods for routing broadband communications are provided. Downstream data to be communicated from a cable service provider head end system to a customer device may be received by a provider edge routing device. The downstream data may be mapped by the provider edge routing device to a physical address associated with the customer device, and the downstream data may be output by the provider edge routing device for communication to the customer device. A provider edge device separate from the provider edge routing device may receive the output downstream data. Based at least in part upon the physical address, the provider edge device may determine a port for outputting the downstream data, and the provider edge device may output the downstream data on the determined port.

In some embodiments, a request to record an asset may be received from a client device. An asset record associated with the request may be created. A first record event for generation of a manifest file may be created. A second record event for entitlement validation of an asset may be created. A third record event for quality control for the asset may be created based at least in part on the asset record. A manifest file associated with the asset may be generated based at least in part on the asset record.

Abstract: A system, method and device for providing a mobile application across smart phone platforms to enable consumer connectivity and control of media. The viewing experience of the individual is improved by the added control and the advertising experience is enhanced by ensuring advertisements are relevant and actionable. A system for providing interactivity between a mobile device and content includes a content provider providing content for presentation on a display device and a mobile device configured with a media management module communicating to provide user interactivity with the content. The media management module enables individualized consumer media services for the mobile device.

Abstract: Embodiments disclosed herein relate to a system and method for validating adcopy instructions. A user selection of an advertising client may be received. One or more advertising orders associated with the advertising client are identified in an order management system. A selection of an advertising order is received from the user. A set of adcopy instructions to be associated with the selected advertising contract is received from the user. The set of adcopy instructions are validated based on one or more rules associated with each of the order management system and a traffic and billing system. When the adcopy instructions are validated, the adcopy instructions are stored in a database associated with the traffic and billing system.

Abstract: Video streaming is delivered through a communication network to one or more client computing devices/systems. A number of video display or bandwidth control profiles are used in part to control an amount of bandwidth used by each client to stream video at various quality levels or audio-only. Video display profiles can be configured according to a particular device/system being used to stream video.

Abstract: Disclosed are methods and systems for displaying content recommendations to a television viewer. In one aspect of the invention, when the user changes channel, the system displays content recommendations to the user before going to the next channel. The recommendations are based on user profiles and/or aggregated multi-user content. In a further aspect, the user can decide on one of the recommendations (or answer a yes/no query) to migrate to the corresponding content.

Abstract: Initiating actions for mobile devices prior to a mobile user entering problem zones. A position and a route of a user are identified. A database is accessed to retrieve data identifying problem zones in a communications network. The position and route of the user are compared to the retrieve data identifying problem zones. A determination is made to identify when the user is approaching a problem zones. An action is performed to compensate for unfavorable network conditions of the problem zone when the user enters the problem zone.

Abstract: A policy decision point override for content rating. Parental controls may be modified at a decision point. A content rating decision point includes memory configured for maintaining content metadata, wherein the memory includes a first field for storing a content provider assigned rating and a second field for storing a locally generated content rating for each of a plurality of content. A processor is coupled to the memory to receive input from a subscriber defining a locally generated content rating for rating presentation and rating-based control of content.
