Abstract: An angle shift compensation system and method for controlling a sinusoidally driven motor to achieve efficient motion and reduced noise. The motor controller uses the angle shift compensation method to monitor the angle shift between a sinusoidal motor control signal configured to drive the motor and a feedback signal received from at least one position detector indicating the position of the motor rotor with respect to the motor stator. In response, the motor controller proportionally adjusts the amplitude of the motor control signal based on the monitored angle shift to maintain the angle shift substantially equal to an angle shift threshold.

Abstract: An apparatus cools electronic circuitry. An enclosure surrounds the electronic circuitry and has plural surfaces. Air intake holes are disposed in at least one surface and face at least one first direction. Air exhaust holes are disposed in at least another surface and face at least one second direction different than the first direction. A heat sink is in thermal contact with the circuitry and conducts heat generated by the circuitry. When a fan operates, air is drawn from an exterior of the enclosure through the air intake holes, absorbs heat from the heat sink, and then is directed through the air exhaust holes into the exterior of the enclosure. The heat sink is further in thermal contact with the enclosure so that when the fan does not operate, heat is drawn from the circuitry to the enclosure via the heat sink and is dissipated from the exterior.

Abstract: A motor calibration system and method for a motor having a rotor, a stator, and at least one phase. The system further comprises a controller and a position detector adapted to detect a position of the rotor with respect to the stator. Wherein the controller is adapted to perform a calibration sequence to calibrate to motor by driving at least one motor phase with a motor control signal at a predetermined maximum amplitude value in a first direction with substantially no load applied on the motor, receiving a feedback signal from the at least one position detector, and determining a first calibration angle shift by measuring a difference between at least the motor control signal and the feedback signal of the at least one motor phase. The controller accounts for the first calibration angle shift when driving the motor in the first direction during normal operation.

Abstract: An involute gear is disclosed. A circular base has a surface that includes an inner region and an outer region. A gear tooth extends outward from the outer region of the surface. A shape of the gear tooth is defined by a varying cross-sectional involute profile. Starting from a first involute profile that is in a plane parallel to the surface of the circular base and extending outward from a center of the circular base, each location on the first involute profile is rotated about a corresponding axis while traversing a path defined by a corresponding imaginary ray extending from the center of the circular base to that location in the first involute profile. The corresponding axis is tangential to an imaginary circle that encompasses the inner region of the surface and is perpendicular to the corresponding imaginary ray.

Abstract: A building automation scheduling system and method for scheduling the control of electronic devices of a building automation system. The room scheduling system comprises a database including a plurality of space nodes identifying spaces located within a building and associated with one or more electronic devices installed within respective spaces in the building. The room scheduling system further comprises a processor in communication with the one or more electronic devices configured for classifying the space nodes by room categories, defining room states each comprising at least one control command for one or more electronic devices in a space, defining day patterns by assigning at least one room state to at least one room category over a course of a day, and assigning the day patterns to calendar days on a calendar.
Abstract: Described herein is a retrofit digital speaker system comprising two or more retrofitted speaker enclosures, each of the two or more retrofitted speaker enclosures (enclosures) comprising: at least one speaker; and an analog-and-digital interface adapted to receive digitally encoded audio signals, electrical power, and digital command signals, and wherein the digitally encoded audio signals, electrical power, and digital command signals are transmitted over existing two wire analog audio cables, and further wherein the two or more retrofitted speaker enclosures are wired in a daisy chain fashion, via the existing two wire analog audio cables.
Abstract: A tunable bass reflex ceiling mounted speaker system and a method for tuning same is disclosed. In accordance with at least one embodiment, a speaker system is provided that includes a port tube and a transducer assembly within the interior volume of a back box. The transducer assembly generates a reflexive airwave within the interior volume of the back box. The reflexive airwave moves into and out of the interior volume through the port tube to create a better broadcast sound in a room. The port tube length has a fixed port and an adjustable port that is tunable by an adjustment mechanism.
Abstract: Described herein is a data communication system using power over Ethernet (PoE) for power distribution, comprising a first and second powered device (PD), each of which is adapted to communicate with each other through an Ethernet data path (EDP) and is further adapted to receive direct current (DC) power using a PoE protocol, and a mid-span power injection device (MSPID) adapted to provide a communications interface such that data communications passes through the MSPID to and from each of the PDs, and wherein the MSPID is further adapted to provide a first DC power to only the first PD using the EDP, and to provide a second DC power to only the second PD using the EDP.
Abstract: A system and method executed by audio processing software on one or more electronic devices in a computer system to process digital audio signals.
Abstract: A color temperature sensor assembly comprising a sensor body, a substantially dome shaped diffuser extending through an opening in the sensor body, a substantially flat diffuser disposed within the sensor body below the first diffuser, and a color temperature sensing module disposed below the flat diffuser and adapted to detect a color temperature of light collected by the dome shaped diffuser and the flat diffuser. The shape of the dome diffuser helps capture light from all angles to bring in more light to the sensor and provide more accurate readings. The secondary flat diffuser is adapted to further diffuse the light to reduce light concentration and prevent inaccurate readings. The color temperature readings from the color temperature sensor assembly may be used to control at least one lighting load.
