Patent number: 7051905Abstract: A closure and container package are provided in which the closure has an elongated orifice. A spout cover on an underside surface of the cap portion of the closure receives a spout portion on a body portion of the closure about the orifice. A snap hinge couples the cap and body. An interior surface of the spout cover forms a sealing contact with an exterior surface of the spout to form an outside seal that does not become contaminated upon dispensing of the contents of the container. An annular seal extending downwardly from a base portion of the closure seals the head-space within the closure to present vapor infiltration and condensation in the head-space. A mold for forming the closure is also disclosed. The spout may be formed such that its sidewalls outwardly bulge upon molding, but upon cooling become substantially parallel.Type: GrantFiled: February 6, 2002Date of Patent: May 30, 2006Assignee: Crown Cork & Seal Technologies CorporationInventor: Valentin Hierzer

Patent number: 7048158Abstract: A closure and container package are provided in which the closure has an elongated orifice. A spout cover disposed on an underside surface of the cap portion of the closure receives a spout portion disposed about the orifice. A spud urges the spout into contact with the spout cover to enhance contact therebetween. A snap hinge couples the cap with the closure body. The spout cover forms a sealing contact with an exterior surface of the spout to form an outside seal that does not become contaminated upon dispensing of the contents of the container. The spout cover includes a protrusion or bead on an inner surface that cooperates with a bead on the spout exterior surface to lock the cap in its fully closed position. An annular seal extending downwardly from a portion of the closure seals the closure head-space to present vapor infiltration and condensation therein.Type: GrantFiled: February 9, 2001Date of Patent: May 23, 2006Assignee: Crown Cork & Seal Technologies CorporationInventor: Valentin Hierzer

Patent number: 7028695Abstract: A mascara brush and method of manufacture thereof provides a mascara brush with bristle fibers that are split into numerous fragments. The mascara brush is made with bristle fibers having longitudinal voids. The brush is then conditioned by passing a rotating wire wheel over the bristle fibers . The wire wheel splits the bristle fibers into numerous bristle fragments. The conditioned brush is softer to the touch than the original mascara brush. The conditioning can be applied to the entire brush or one or more zones of the brush. The conditioning can be shallow, so that only the bristle tips are conditioned, or deep, so that a substantial length of the bristle is conditioned.Type: GrantFiled: June 18, 2002Date of Patent: April 18, 2006Assignee: Crown Cork & Seal Technologies CorporationInventors: Antonio Montoli, Raymond P.
