  • Patent number: 4560937
Abstract: The system includes a digital integrator having a plurality of digital stages operable to store a numerical value in binary digital form which is indicative of state of charge. A switching circuit is provided for generating a series of voltage pulses on a single output line with each pulse corresponding in length to the binary digital value stored in the integrator to provide a time based resultant indication of the stored binary digital value. A filtering means is included to provide a substantially smooth analog output voltage having an amplitude corresponding to the summation of the pulses. The system preferably includes a delayed high voltage reset feature to set the integrator to a full charge state in response to voltage levels accompanying charging of the battery.

  • Patent number: 4545640
Abstract: An electrical connector of the type which includes a rectangular sleeve folded from a flat blank and a pair of screws penetrating one side of the sleeve to clamp electrical wires against an opposite side of the sleeve is protected against distortion by the provision of a dovetail slot in one side intersecting an edge of that side and the provision of a complementary dovetail on a side of the rectangular connector sleeve which meets the side having the dovetail slot at the edge intersected by the dovetail slot so that the complementary dovetail may be folded into the dovetail slot to resist unfolding. The dovetail slot and complementary dovetail are so oriented that the force of tightening the screws against the electrical wires or other conductors is resisted by the dovetail so that the rectangular sleeve cannot unfold. This allows the screws to develop more clamping force against the electrical conductor making a better, neater and safer connection.

  • Patent number: 4544157
Abstract: A goalkeeper's hockey stick having a blade and a shaft rigidly connected to the blade at the heel end. The shaft has three sections with a first section being straight and extending upwards from the heel end of the blade. A second section forms first and second bends with the first bend causing the shaft to extend upwardly and rearwardly from the first section and the second bend causing the shaft above the second bend to extend substantially parallel to the first section. The third section is straight and extends upwards from said second bend. Preferably the shaft has a slight transverse curve near its upper end which results in a deviation from the plane defined by the blade and the first section of the shaft of about 1 inch.

  • Patent number: 4477992
Abstract: A novel apparatus for semi-automatically baiting the hooks of long-line used in commercial deep sea fishing. The apparatus includes a bait holding receptacle, a slotted separator positioned in or in association with the receptacle and extending from substantially end to end thereof, whereby ground-line with leader periodically attached to the ground-line is passed behind the separator such that a gangion portion of the leader extends through the slot in the separator and the hook of the leader secures itself to a piece of bait held in the bait holding receptacle.

  • Patent number: 4460870
Abstract: State of charge is determined for a battery during a quiescent interval with substantially no current flow through the battery by determining the quiescent time interval since the last substantial current flow through the battery, taking a rapid measurement of the battery terminal voltage, and relating the combination of these two measurements to known battery open circuit voltage recovery characteristics.

  • Patent number: 4449432
Abstract: A rotary saw cutoff device for use on an automatic screw machine without the need to sacrifice a working station to accommodate the device, and which is narrower than a standard cutoff tool to reduce the waste loss due to cutoff. The working area of the cutoff device presents a slender profile to permit the device to be movable into and out of the working area of the automatic screw machine without interfering with the other parts of the machine. The saw blade is positioned at the outer edge of a frame in which it is rotatably supported, and it is driven through a gear train by an hydraulic motor. A driven gear is drivingly connected to the saw blade and is supported in bearings, one of which is positioned in a recess formed in one face of the gear.
