  • Patent number: 4880280
Abstract: An improved hub assembly construction enables quick replacement of bearing and/or seal parts of a motorcycle wheel hub assembly; it basically includes a novel hub and flange for a motorcycle spoked wheel, and incorporates: a tubular hub adapted to be received and mounted on an axle, the hub defining an axis; two flanges rigidly mounted on the hub, the flanges having inner annular portions extending generally radially, and outer annular portions that extend angularly axially and radially, the outer portions defining holes spaced about the axis to receive spokes; the hub having opposite end portions and defining a bore between the end portions, and second counterbores at the respective end portions, each first counterbore located between the bore and a second counterbore; a bearing assembly located in each first counterbore, each such assembly including an annular outer race fittingly received axially by its respective first counterbore, an annular inner race spaced radially inwardly of the outer race, and roll

  • Patent number: 4869213
Abstract: A system is provided for relieving gas pressure developed in a crank case under an internal combustion engine piston as the reciprocating piston travels from top dead center toward and beyond bottom dead center, and wherein a rotary breather valve is employed. The rotary valve has a rotary sleeve rotatable within a fixed sleeve, the rotary and fixed sleeves respectively having first and second arcuate ports which come into increasing and decreasing registration in timed relation to the piston travel, such decreasing registration terminating after the piston reaches bottom dead center. Oil and air mist are discharged through the registered ports during said piston travel.

  • Patent number: 4848154
Abstract: A motorcycle speedometer assembly includes a casing, and a display face on the casing; a first rotary indicator at the display face and rotatable about a first axis, there being first speed indicating indicia on the display first face with which the indicator registers as it rotates about the axis; a first drive responsive to motorcycle forward speed and connected with the first indicator for rotating the indicator in proportion to motorcycle speed to register with corresponding first indicia; and a second indicator at the display face and rotatable about a second axis to indicate motorcycle engine RPM, the second axis offset from the first axis, there being second indicia on the display face with which the second indicator registers as it rotates about the second axis, the second indicia indicating tachometer increasing values of RPM; and a second drive responsive to motorcycle engine RPM and connected with the second indicator for rotating the second indicator in proportion to engine speed to register with

  • Patent number: 4836158
Abstract: A composite gasket is employed between a Harley Davidson engine cylinder block and head; the gasket includes a malleable metal annulus about the cylinder bore, and a non-metallic sheet gasket about the metal annulus and free of overlapping connection to the metal annulus; and a malleable metal gasket is usable between the block and crank case, with one bolt causing clamping of both metal gaskets so that the non-metallic gasket sheet is non-destructively clamped to seal about fluid passages.
