Abstract: A circuit breaker having an electronic fault sensing and trip initiating unit which provides increased versatility and ability to coordinate the circuit breaker with other interrupting and protective devices in a wide variety of electrical distribution systems. Electronic circuits and components are provided to vary the ampere rating of the breaker, to adjust current carrying capacity, to provide a long time delay trip, a short time delay trip and an instantaneous trip depending on the amplitude of high fault currents, to provide a ground fault trip, to shorten or lengthen the trip time for short time delay faults and for ground faults, and to provide shunt trip capability. The tripping mechanism is magnetic and mechanical, and includes a plunger movable between a trip and non-trip position controlled by an electronic switch in the electronic circuitry, and a toggle mechanism which is unlatched by the plunger when it moves to the trip position.

Abstract: A bipolar electrode for an electrolyzer. It is characterized in that the anode surface and the cathode surface of said electrode both comprise a porous conductive material which includes sintered nickel previously impregnated with nickel molybdate. The invention is used for manufacturing hydrogen by electrolyzing an aqueous alkaline solution.
Abstract: Magnetic alloys of a ternary composition as defined within the region A, B, C, D of the ternary diagram of FIG. 5, wherein X is one or more metals selected from the group which consists of iron, nickel, aluminum, copper, molybdenum and manganese, are cast and rendered ductile by the formation within the material during solidification of at least two phases. One of the phases is preferably ductile and formed essentially of fibers or dendrites of Co and the other phase or phases are from those normally found in rare-earth/cobalt magnets. The alloy is magnetically hardened by precipitation hardening.
Abstract: 5-Aryl-1-(2-oxazolin-2-yl)-1H-1,4-benzodiazepines and related compounds having the formula ##STR1## wherein A is methylene or carbonyl; Z is oxygen, imino or thio; R.sup.1, R.sup.2, and R.sup.3 independently are hydrogen, halogen, trifluoromethyl or nitro; R.sup.4 is hydrogen or hydroxy; and n is positive integer from 1 to 3 inclusive are disclosed. These compounds are useful because of their central nervous system activity.
Abstract: A bottle contents transfer device having a base arranged for resting on a support surface and supporting in an elevated position a retaining rack arranged for holding a bottle or bottles to be drained. Disposed between the retaining rack and the base of the device is a shelf provided with a hole in which a funnel is removably received for directing a substance being drained into a container supported by the base. An adapter permits a funnel to be mounted on the retaining rack so as to allow containers to be drained which are unsuited for support by the retaining rack. Control of fluid flow through the funnels is realized by use of a valve element manually placeable in and removable from the drain portion of the funnel or funnels employed with the device.

Abstract: Instant pasta prepared by forming a sheet of gelatinized cereal flour-dough, expanding the sheeted dough under controlled conditions to impart a high degree of essentially uniform porous structure to the sheet, subdividing the expanded dough into pieces of desired shapes, thereby exposing the porous interior of said shaped pieces along their perimeter surfaces, and drying the shaped pieces. Other features of the invention appear in the following specification.

Abstract: Apparatus for connecting a tanker to a marine tower comprising apparatus for mooring the tanker to the tower and apparatus for connecting a supply conduit on the tower to a receiver conduit on the tanker. A hose-pipe section is normally stored on the tanker at least in part on a rotary pulley located on the tanker in a manner such that one of the ends of the hose-pipe has connected to it a first connecting element which opens upwardly on the tanker deck. A boom on the tower capable of freely pivoting about the axis of the latter has attached to its free end a second connecting element adapted to cooperate with the first connecting element. A rope passes vertically through the second connecting element whose free end is attachable to the first connecting element to move the first connecting element towards or away from said second connecting element which remains substantially stationary.

Abstract: A powered vehicle for loading, transporting and unloading heaped materials comprises a chassis having a first fixed part mounted on running gear and a second movable part pivotally mounted on the front of the fixed part which is substantially vertically aligned with the front axis of rotation of the running gear, the front of the movable part projecting beyond the front of the fixed part and having pivotally mounted on it a skip. The skip is moved between loading, transportation and unloading positions by two elements, one of which bears on the fixed and movable chassis parts for pivoting the movable chassis part relative to the fixed chassis part and the other of which bears on the movable chassis part and the skip for pivoting the skip relative to the movable chassis part.

Abstract: Method and apparatus for transporting coal in finely divided form in a coal/liquid slurry. Liquid carbon dioxide, which can be formed by burning coal at the coal source point and liquefying the resulting gaseous carbon dioxide, serves as the slurry liquid. The slurry is pumped through a slurry pipeline to the coal use point under conditions of temperature and pressure to maintain the carbon dioxide in liquefied form. Subsequent to deslurrying, the coal-free carbon dioxide can be liquefied and returned through a liquid pipeline to the coal source point for reuse. The use of liquid carbon dioxide as a slurry medium is also applicable to transporting other finely divided solids such as ores and the like.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for coating a glass container witb a layer of plastic whereby the container rotates about a horizontal axis and moves past a coating station. A plurality of liquid applicator nozzle means, positioned above the coating station, supply uncured plastic liquid to associated areas on the container. Means are provided for supplying predetermined quantities of uncured plastic liquid to respective ones of the nozzle means such that each nozzle means provides a coating of desired thickness and composition on its associated bottle area. The container is also rotated during the subsequent curing of the plastic.
