  • Patent number: 4208225
Abstract: Magnetic alloys of a ternary composition as defined within the region A, B, C, D of the ternary diagram of FIG. 5, wherein X is one or more metals selected from the group which consists of iron, nickel, aluminum, copper, molybdenum and manganese, are cast and rendered ductile by the formation within the material during solidification of at least two phases. One of the phases is preferably ductile and formed essentially of fibers or dendrites of Co and the other phase or phases are from those normally found in rare-earth/cobalt magnets. The alloy is magnetically hardened by precipitation hardening.

  • Patent number: 4207933
Abstract: A bottle contents transfer device having a base arranged for resting on a support surface and supporting in an elevated position a retaining rack arranged for holding a bottle or bottles to be drained. Disposed between the retaining rack and the base of the device is a shelf provided with a hole in which a funnel is removably received for directing a substance being drained into a container supported by the base. An adapter permits a funnel to be mounted on the retaining rack so as to allow containers to be drained which are unsuited for support by the retaining rack. Control of fluid flow through the funnels is realized by use of a valve element manually placeable in and removable from the drain portion of the funnel or funnels employed with the device.

  • Patent number: 4206782
Abstract: Apparatus for connecting a tanker to a marine tower comprising apparatus for mooring the tanker to the tower and apparatus for connecting a supply conduit on the tower to a receiver conduit on the tanker. A hose-pipe section is normally stored on the tanker at least in part on a rotary pulley located on the tanker in a manner such that one of the ends of the hose-pipe has connected to it a first connecting element which opens upwardly on the tanker deck. A boom on the tower capable of freely pivoting about the axis of the latter has attached to its free end a second connecting element adapted to cooperate with the first connecting element. A rope passes vertically through the second connecting element whose free end is attachable to the first connecting element to move the first connecting element towards or away from said second connecting element which remains substantially stationary.

  • Patent number: 4206610
Abstract: Method and apparatus for transporting coal in finely divided form in a coal/liquid slurry. Liquid carbon dioxide, which can be formed by burning coal at the coal source point and liquefying the resulting gaseous carbon dioxide, serves as the slurry liquid. The slurry is pumped through a slurry pipeline to the coal use point under conditions of temperature and pressure to maintain the carbon dioxide in liquefied form. Subsequent to deslurrying, the coal-free carbon dioxide can be liquefied and returned through a liquid pipeline to the coal source point for reuse. The use of liquid carbon dioxide as a slurry medium is also applicable to transporting other finely divided solids such as ores and the like.
