Abstract: In a method and apparatus for restraining passengers in a retaining passengers in a vehicle upon impact with an obstacle, a possible accident is initially sensed. Thereafter, at the latest, whenever the vehicle first contacts the obstacle, or whenever vehicle deceleration exceeds a threshold, a force acting in the direction of impact is exerted upon the passenger via a seat belt system. The force is introduced by bilateral tensioning of a lap belt of a seat belt system, from both sides at a force of at least 2000-4500 N. The latter is maintained for a retaining phase of at least 20 ms along a displacement path of the passenger.

Abstract: A folding bunk with ladder is to save space and be easy to use in a motor vehicle. The design layout therefore constitutes a folding bunk with a support frame for placement of a mattress, a folding axis that is arranged on a first side of the support frame for pivoting the folding bunk, and a ladder mounted on the second side of the support frame opposite the first side. The ladder is mounted on the support frame in such a way that it can only pivot on a pivot axis parallel to the folding axis and has no other degrees of freedom. In this way, the ladder can be moved into the useable position in one single operation. If required, the ladder can be combined with a safety element to protect the person lying on the folding bunk.

Abstract: A battery has a heat conducting plate for temperature control, and a plurality of parallel and/or serially connected single cells which are thermally coupled to the heat conducting plate. A channel structure is arranged in the heat conducting plate for guiding a flow of a heat conducting medium therein, and connection cross sections for the channel structure extend from the heat conducting plate. In the region of the poles of the single cells the heat conducting plate has bores through which the poles of the single cells extend. An insert piece which is made from an electrically insulating material and is arranged around the pole of a single cell, at least partially abuts the outer surface of the pole, and has at least one spacer extending radially from the pole. The spacer is arranged in the region of the pole between the cover of the single cell and the heat conducting plate.

Abstract: In a fuel cell stack, fuel, such as often hydrogen, electrochemically reacts with an oxidant, such as ambient air, and electric energy is generated from chemical energy. During the reaction, a proton exchange membrane (PEM) separates the fuel from the oxidant during the electrochemical process. A supply system for the fuel cell stack comprises an adjustable humidifying device for humidifying a supply gas which is supplied to the fuel cell stack, as a function of a control signal; and a dehumidifying device, which is configured to dehumidify an exhaust gas that is formed from the supply gas conducted through the fuel cell stack, and to discharge the same as a dehumidified exhaust gas. A controller, which generates the control signal, is configured from a programming and/or switching point of view to generate the control signal based on the gas temperature of the dehumidified exhaust gas.

Abstract: The invention relates to devices for operating fuel cells. According to the invention, the two functions “cooling” and “humidification” are combined in a functional unit (11, 12) to adjust the temperature of the air (1) supplied as the reaction medium and to humidify it, wherein the known hollow fiber design for membrane humidifiers having a high specific surface can preferably be used for the charge air cooler (3). These hollow fibers may also consist of a temperature-resistant membrane material (5) and give off water vapor to the inlet gas.
