Abstract: In a method, a steeringwheel torque for the steering wheel of a motor vehicle is determined. In this context, a steering angle for steered wheels is predefined by the driver by means of the steering wheel. A steering torque which represents the forces on the vehicle axle acts on the steering wheel. A desired manual torque (M_soll) is determined here using at least one axle model. The desired manual torque is then superimposed on the actual steeringwheel torque (M_ist).

Abstract: In a method of operating a compressor near the compressor pumping limit wherein the compressor includes a control arrangement for adjusting the momentary operating state of the compressor, the flow velocity of a mass flow through the compressor in the boundary layer along the wall of the flow passage is determined for detecting operation of the compressor close to the pumping limit from a reversal of the direction of the mass flow vector in the boundary layer and the control arrangement is actuated so as to prevent the compressor from transgressing the pumping limit.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for triggering automatic emergency braking in a vehicle, such as a truck, provides an assistance function for avoiding or mitigating the effects of a rear end collision with a vehicle traveling ahead. Abstract: Proposed is a PEM fuel cell that comprises a separator plate assembly with a charging chamber, which is partitioned off by a partition wall and via charging spots has a fluid connection to an adjoining cathode chamber. The partition wall is designed so that the depths of the charging channels in the charging chamber and the depths of the distribution channels in the adjoining cathode chambers change in such a way that the quantity of oxidant that is charged at a charging spot from the charging chamber into the cathode chamber can be fixed in advance. As a result, the charging of oxidant, which has not been humidified or only slightly, into the cathode chamber can be improved with regard to the curve of the relative humidity along the cathode. Also proposed is a method for manufacturing a separator plate assembly suitable for a PEM fuel cell.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for preventatively actuating a vehicle occupant protection system in a vehicle having a sensor system which acquires driving state data, and a reversible vehicle occupant protection means which can be triggered before the collision time and thus moved into an operative position. A control signal for triggering the vehicle occupant protection means is activated if at least one critical driving state is present, and is deactivated if the respective critical driving state ends and as a function of at least one further condition which represents at least one sensed controllable driving behavior. As a result, the vehicle occupant protection system is reset to its initial state.
Abstract: In a motor vehicle drive arrangement having an electric motor with a rotor for driving an oil pump and being supported in an air space of a housing by a rotor disk of the rotor of the electric motor which is permanently connected to a pump rotor of the oil pump, a freewheeling mechanism for a mechanical drive of the pump rotor of the oil pump is provided for coupling the oil pump to a vehicle travel drive train of the vehicle drive arrangement when the travel drive train rotates faster than the electric motor.
Abstract: A method and device for warning a driver of lane departure, wherein a first analyzer is used to detect the vehicle's lane departure based on image data and/or vehicle data and/or driver activity. The driver then receives a warning as a function of the detection by the first analyzer. In addition, a second analyzer for evaluating the driving situation is provided, which either performs the evaluation of the driving situation after the detection and via which the warning is suppressed as a function of the evaluation, or which alternatively performs an evaluation of the driving situation before the detection and via which a detection of lane departure is suppressed as a function of the evaluation.

Abstract: A method for operating an internal combustion engine having an exhaust gas purification system. Intake air throttling is carried out in order to raise an exhaust gas temperature in a low-load mode and in a traction mode. The amount of intake air throttling is determined as function of an expected load demand so that, with an expected unchanged or decreasing load demand, an increased or maximum possible intake air throttling is set. With an expected rising load demand, however, no or reduced intake air throttling is set, and the expected load demand is estimated based on operating and ambient parameters of the internal combustion engine.
Abstract: A safety device for reducing risk of injury to a vehicle occupant in the event of lateral impact accidents, includes at least one cushion element which is arranged on the vehicle, laterally adjacent to an occupant position, and can be moved by an actuating device from a rest position into a deployed position in the direction of the occupant position. Abstract: Future motor vehicles will require additional lighting means. Additional lighting means are required, above all, in conjunction with environmental sensors, especially sensors which are used in night vision systems. As a result of the generally increasing number of electric and electronic systems in motor vehicles, such systems must be easy to operate for the driver. The invention thus relates to a switching arrangement which enables a plurality of lighting systems to be ergonomically operated on one motor vehicle. Said switching arrangement comprises a single switch having a plurality of switching stages. In this way, all switching stages pertaining to different lighting systems are located in the same switching region, enabling the lighting systems to be operated in a simple and intuitive manner.
