  • Patent number: 5587327
Abstract: A process for preparing a bipolar transistor for very high frequencies is described, which is especially advantageous for the preparation of heterobipolar transistors and leads to components with low parasitic capacities and low base lead resistance. The process includes forming a structured first layer with collector zone and insulation areas surrounding the collector zone on a monocrystalline lead layer. A series of monocrystalline transistor layers are grown on the first layer over the collector zone by differential epitaxy and a series of polycrystalline layers is grown at the same time over the insulation areas. A series of polycrystalline layers is designed as a base lead.

  • Patent number: 5586433
Abstract: A process and apparatus for the selective catalyzed NO.sub.x reduction in oxygen-containing exhaust gases of internal-combustion engines. For improving the reduction of nitric oxides, hydrocarbons and air are supplied to the exhaust gas purifier and, for producing reactive short-chained unsaturated hydrocarbons, a defined quantity of fuel from the stored fuel intended for the fuel supply of the internal-combustion engine is catalytically cracked and is oxidized by the simultaneous supply of air. The resulting species are guided into the exhaust gas flow of the exhaust gases which are to be purified.

  • Patent number: 5582005
Abstract: The invention relates to a gasoline engine having a catalyst for reducing the emission pollutants, with an oxygen absorption device located in the exhaust line upstream of the catalyst. According to the invention, the gasoline engine is operated in a first operating range with a lean air/fuel ratio (.lambda.), and oxygen is removed from the exhaust by the absorption device. In a second operating range, the gasoline engine is operated at .lambda.=1, and the absorption device is bypassed or deactivated. In the case of a gasoline engine with a Denox catalyst the gasoline engine is operated constantly with a lean air/fuel ratio, with the active surface of the Denox catalyst being "depoisoned" temporarily by activating the oxygen absorption device.

  • Patent number: 5583311
Abstract: An intercept device for flying objects is formed of a lightweight, small-volume, packable structure made of a tear-resistant, pliable material, which can be stretched to a large, two-dimensional or three-dimensional expansion by means of a deployment device. To reduce the velocity of the intercepted flying objects, activatable, aerodynamic resistance bodies are incorporated into the structure. To end the intercept procedure, elements are integrated into the structure, which consist of material that can be destroyed from outside by means of high-energy beams and/or chemical reagents, or that destroys itself, or the structure as a whole consists of such material.

  • Patent number: 5577358
Abstract: A separation wall for dividing a cabin space inside a passenger aircraft is constructed of two wall elements rigidly connected to each other in an overlap area. The transition between the overlap area and a respective wall portion of the corresponding wall element is formed by an off-set (27B, 28B; 31B, 32B). The off-sets may slant in the same direction or in opposite directions. The wall elements have lateral edges facing either an aisle in the aircraft cabin or an aircraft body wall. For this purpose the respective lateral edge tapers or curves upwardly to accommodate the aisle or the curvature of the body wall. The overlap area provides an improved strength and wall extensions (28D or 31D) form a space (19) for storage of items or mounting of equipment.

  • Patent number: 5578135
Abstract: A process for stripping of used parts or reject parts, in particular of polycarbonate (PC) or of a polycarbonate blend, preferably with polybutylene terephthalate (PBT/PC), for the purpose of recycling the plastic. In this process the plastics parts are first mechanically comminuted to a pourable size and then are circulated together with anhydrous alkalified diethylene glycol or propylene glycol in a mass with mutual abrasion of the plastics chips at elevated temperatures of at least 50.degree. C., preferably from 80.degree. to 100.degree. C., until complete removal of the paint. Thereafter the stripped plastics chips are separated from the stripping agent, flushed and then dried. The quantity of glycol added corresponds to from 1 to 10% of the volume of the mass to be treated, so that the circulated parts are only wetted by the glycol, but with stripping agent being circulated continuously through the treatment space of the mass from a relatively large reservoir.

  • Patent number: 5566910
Abstract: A wing gap closure flap is positioned in an aircraft wing so that a gap between the wing structure and the leading edge of a landing flap can be closed during normal cruising positions of the landing flap and opened when the landing flap is in a starting position or in a landing position. The gap is formed on the underside of the aircraft wing and the gap closure flap is operated by a positioning shaft which itself is driven through a drive lever linkage by the drive shaft for the landing flap. The wing gap closure flap is connected through a lever mechanism to the positioning shaft which is preferably divided into shaft sections where a plurality of wing gap closure flaps are used. Each shaft section is driven by the landing flap drive shaft. A defined motion of the wing gap closure flap or flaps is achieved in that the positioning of the wing gap closure flaps is synchronized in a limited angular range with the positioning of the landing flap by the cooperation of the respective drive mechanisms.

  • Patent number: 5566832
Abstract: A method for separating plastic particles by types from a particle mixture of plastics of different types by flotation. The plastic particles are initially processed by a type-dependent change in their wetting behavior in such a manner that the various types can be floated individually out of the particle mixture. This surface treatment of the plastic particles takes place prior to flotation and outside of the flotation device in a physically dry manner by plasma processing of the particle mixture followed by storage for a predetermined time period. Storage results in a material-specific classification wetting behavior.
