Patent number: 4793211Abstract: In a bearing arrangement of a differential casing of a differential transmission in an axle transmission light metal casing of a motor vehicle, a bearing intermediate sleeve is inserted in a bearing eye of the axle transmission casing so that it cannot move. An axle journal of the differential casing is supported by a conical roller bearing on the bearing intermediate sleeve and one shaft end of a driven shaft of the differential gear is supported by a shaft bearing in the bearing intermediate sleeve. In order to achieve a compact and light structure despite high bearing forces, provision is made for the axle transmission casing to consist of aluminum and to be formed integrally with the bearing eye. The bearing intermediate sleeve also consists of aluminum and a rolling contact bearing is used for the associated shaft bearing.Type: GrantFiled: December 3, 1987Date of Patent: December 27, 1988Assignee: Daimler-Benz AktiengesellschaftInventor: Johannes Schmidt

Patent number: 4785790Abstract: An arrangement for the control of the oil feed into a control chamber of a piston with variable compression height for internal-combustion engines comprises a control valve in the longitudinal bore of a connecting rod that is provided with a flow-through bore for the oil supply of the control chamber in the operation of the internal-combustion engine. This flow-through bore is closed as a function of the inertial forces acting in the oil feed. In order to avoid a ceasing of the oil column in the longitudinal bore, the control valve has an additional control bore that is opened only in the starting phase and via which an additional amount of oil is guided from the lubricating oil circuit of the internal-combustion engine into the control chamber, which accelerates the upward control of the piston.Type: GrantFiled: November 9, 1987Date of Patent: November 22, 1988Assignee: Daimler-Benz AktiengesellschaftInventors: Viktor Pfeffer, Friedrich Wirbeleit

Patent number: 4785691Abstract: A device for regulating an internal combustion engine in a motor vehicle is provided with an electrical desired-value transmitter adjustable between an idling position and a full-load position, an actuator, and a regulating member coupled mechanically to the actuator. The set position of the desired-value transmitter is transmissible to the actuator via an electrical transmission circuit via which signals can be entered from further regulating variables; and also to the regulating member via a mechanical transmission member of variable length which can be connected to the desired-value transmitter via a connecting lever. So that this regulating device can be installed with the least possible changes in a vehicle without impairing its emergency running properties and the input of further regulating variables, a drag lever is provided that connects the accelerator pedal to the desired-value transmitter.Type: GrantFiled: March 10, 1987Date of Patent: November 22, 1988Assignee: Daimler-Benz AktiengesellschaftInventors: Dieter Papenhagen, Klaus-Achim Schneider

Patent number: 4783128Abstract: A brake pressure control unit operable by a hydraulic brake power booster and functionally corresponding to a tandem master cylinder for two statically pressurizable brake circuits has two casing bores spaced laterally apart. In one of the bores, the primary output pressure space bounded by the primary piston and floating piston is accommodated, and in the second bore, a piston which is also a floating piston, bounds the secondary output pressure space by a piston flange. The floating piston bounding the primary output pressure space on one side has the effect of building up, in the end control pressure spaces of the first and second bores, the control pressure acting on the second floating piston. This pressure leads to a displacement of the second floating piston in the sense of a pressure build-up in the secondary pressure space. The second floating piston is connected to a double-acting hydraulic cylinder, which is likewise accommodated in the second casing bore.Type: GrantFiled: September 24, 1987Date of Patent: November 8, 1988Assignee: Daimler-Benz AktiengesellschaftInventor: Reinhard Resch

Patent number: 4781265Abstract: In a vehicle with a permanently active rear-axle drive train and with a front-axle drive train which can be connected via an electrohydraulically controllable clutch and a power take-off gear, and which is connected each time for a specific period of a few seconds when the drive slip in the rear-axle drive train exceeds a predetermined threshold value. A torque direction sensor responds to pulling and pushing stresses in the front-axle drive train and which generates electrical output signals characteristic of such stresses. These output signals are used with the output signals from a forward-reverse motion sensor in a logic circuit, in such a way that the clutch is released when admissibly high stresses occur in the front-axle drive train within the connection period, and the clutch is engaged again when these stresses have diminished.Type: GrantFiled: June 19, 1987Date of Patent: November 1, 1988Assignee: Daimler-Benz AktiengesellschaftInventors: Werner Weiler, Arno Rohringer

Patent number: 4779845Abstract: In the illustrative embodiment of the invention as described an engine bonnet is articulated to the framework of a motor car. A gas spring is articulated to both the framework and the bonnet. The gas spring balances part of the weight of the bonnet when the bonnet is to be opened by hand. In case of an accident the framework and/or the bonnet may be crushed in longitudinal direction of the car. In such case the piston rod of the gas spring is pushed inward of the cylinder beyond the normal innermost operational position and a retaining device becomes effective so as to prevent the piston rod from returning towards its outermost operational position.Type: GrantFiled: April 18, 1983Date of Patent: October 25, 1988Assignees: Daimler-Benz AG, Stabilus GmbHInventors: Hans-Georg Bartesch, Volker Nickel, Manfred Muller, Herbert Freitag, Klaus Schnitzius

Patent number: 4779517Abstract: A fresh air supply device is disclosed which is connected upstream of a blower of a heating or air conditioning unit in a motor vehicle. The blower is accommodated by a housing with the fresh air entering into a gap between the windscreen and the adjacent hood. The fresh air is deflected while water and foreign bodies are separated and is supplied to a filter underneath the hood. The filter can be exchanged by pulling it out upwards. Downstream of the filter, the air enters the intake side of the blower. In order to prevent unintentional heating up of the fresh air in the intake tract, while retaining easy exchangeability of the filter, the filter is covered by an intake scoop which can be moved away and is thermally shielded relative to the vehicle hood or bonnet.Type: GrantFiled: July 10, 1987Date of Patent: October 25, 1988Assignee: Daimler-Benz AktiengesellschaftInventors: Karl-Heinz Weller, Werner Stahle, Rolf Marquart, Hans Trube, Heinz Koukal, Klaus Arold
