  • Patent number: 4793211
Abstract: In a bearing arrangement of a differential casing of a differential transmission in an axle transmission light metal casing of a motor vehicle, a bearing intermediate sleeve is inserted in a bearing eye of the axle transmission casing so that it cannot move. An axle journal of the differential casing is supported by a conical roller bearing on the bearing intermediate sleeve and one shaft end of a driven shaft of the differential gear is supported by a shaft bearing in the bearing intermediate sleeve. In order to achieve a compact and light structure despite high bearing forces, provision is made for the axle transmission casing to consist of aluminum and to be formed integrally with the bearing eye. The bearing intermediate sleeve also consists of aluminum and a rolling contact bearing is used for the associated shaft bearing.

  • Patent number: 4793316
Abstract: The invention relates to a fuel injection pump for internal-combustion engines having element pistons that are arranged in the pump housing and are guided in element sleeves in a longitudinally slidable way, each of said element pistons having a collar with flattened areas that in a torsionally fixed but axially slidable way is guided in a control sleeve that is connected with the control rod of the fuel injection pump and is disposed on the element sleeve so that it can be turned. In order to eliminate the play between the control sleeve and the element piston, a spring is provided between the collar of the element piston and the control sleeve that rests flexibly against it, or the control sleeve is designed to be slotted in such a way that it elastically reaches around the element piston.

  • Patent number: 4785904
Abstract: An installation for the propulsion regulation in motor vehicles acting on the output torque of the driving aggregate for preventing the undesired slippage of the driven vehicle wheels, whereby in case of determining the slippage tendency of a driven wheel, the magnitude determining the output torque is stored and subsequently reduced to its minimum value, is increased after the termination of the acceleration phase of this wheel to a value coordinated to the maximum value of the wheel acceleration which had occurred, is kept constant at this value, and in case of a determination of the ending of the slippage tendency, is increased by a further value coordinated to the maximum value of the wheel deceleration that had occurred whereby the delayed reaction of the drive aggregate is counteracted and a more rapid regulation with slight excess torque and fewer regulating cycles is attained.

  • Patent number: 4785790
Abstract: An arrangement for the control of the oil feed into a control chamber of a piston with variable compression height for internal-combustion engines comprises a control valve in the longitudinal bore of a connecting rod that is provided with a flow-through bore for the oil supply of the control chamber in the operation of the internal-combustion engine. This flow-through bore is closed as a function of the inertial forces acting in the oil feed. In order to avoid a ceasing of the oil column in the longitudinal bore, the control valve has an additional control bore that is opened only in the starting phase and via which an additional amount of oil is guided from the lubricating oil circuit of the internal-combustion engine into the control chamber, which accelerates the upward control of the piston.

  • Patent number: 4785691
Abstract: A device for regulating an internal combustion engine in a motor vehicle is provided with an electrical desired-value transmitter adjustable between an idling position and a full-load position, an actuator, and a regulating member coupled mechanically to the actuator. The set position of the desired-value transmitter is transmissible to the actuator via an electrical transmission circuit via which signals can be entered from further regulating variables; and also to the regulating member via a mechanical transmission member of variable length which can be connected to the desired-value transmitter via a connecting lever. So that this regulating device can be installed with the least possible changes in a vehicle without impairing its emergency running properties and the input of further regulating variables, a drag lever is provided that connects the accelerator pedal to the desired-value transmitter.

  • Patent number: 4783128
Abstract: A brake pressure control unit operable by a hydraulic brake power booster and functionally corresponding to a tandem master cylinder for two statically pressurizable brake circuits has two casing bores spaced laterally apart. In one of the bores, the primary output pressure space bounded by the primary piston and floating piston is accommodated, and in the second bore, a piston which is also a floating piston, bounds the secondary output pressure space by a piston flange. The floating piston bounding the primary output pressure space on one side has the effect of building up, in the end control pressure spaces of the first and second bores, the control pressure acting on the second floating piston. This pressure leads to a displacement of the second floating piston in the sense of a pressure build-up in the secondary pressure space. The second floating piston is connected to a double-acting hydraulic cylinder, which is likewise accommodated in the second casing bore.

  • Patent number: 4781265
Abstract: In a vehicle with a permanently active rear-axle drive train and with a front-axle drive train which can be connected via an electrohydraulically controllable clutch and a power take-off gear, and which is connected each time for a specific period of a few seconds when the drive slip in the rear-axle drive train exceeds a predetermined threshold value. A torque direction sensor responds to pulling and pushing stresses in the front-axle drive train and which generates electrical output signals characteristic of such stresses. These output signals are used with the output signals from a forward-reverse motion sensor in a logic circuit, in such a way that the clutch is released when admissibly high stresses occur in the front-axle drive train within the connection period, and the clutch is engaged again when these stresses have diminished.

  • Patent number: 4779845
Abstract: In the illustrative embodiment of the invention as described an engine bonnet is articulated to the framework of a motor car. A gas spring is articulated to both the framework and the bonnet. The gas spring balances part of the weight of the bonnet when the bonnet is to be opened by hand. In case of an accident the framework and/or the bonnet may be crushed in longitudinal direction of the car. In such case the piston rod of the gas spring is pushed inward of the cylinder beyond the normal innermost operational position and a retaining device becomes effective so as to prevent the piston rod from returning towards its outermost operational position.

  • Patent number: 4779517
Abstract: A fresh air supply device is disclosed which is connected upstream of a blower of a heating or air conditioning unit in a motor vehicle. The blower is accommodated by a housing with the fresh air entering into a gap between the windscreen and the adjacent hood. The fresh air is deflected while water and foreign bodies are separated and is supplied to a filter underneath the hood. The filter can be exchanged by pulling it out upwards. Downstream of the filter, the air enters the intake side of the blower. In order to prevent unintentional heating up of the fresh air in the intake tract, while retaining easy exchangeability of the filter, the filter is covered by an intake scoop which can be moved away and is thermally shielded relative to the vehicle hood or bonnet.
