Abstract: A restraint device for the occupants of motor vehicles is described in which part of the wall of an airbag is designed as a filter. The filter has the keeps the particles released on ignition of the driving gas generator away from the internal space of the motor vehicle. The filter has a very high tear resistance so that the pores of the filter do not increase under load which would case the filter effect to decrease. A filter weave of aramid fibers in 2/1 twill weave with 24 threads per cm in the warp and 21 threads in the weft, the threads having a strength of dtex 250.times.2 Nm 40/2 is particularly advantageous.

Abstract: A louver vent is disclosed which has successive levels, in flow direction, of in each case one set of slats which are pivoted by means of a joint operating handle. In order to provide air deflection corresponding to the associated slat position, at least one single slat is positioned ahead of the row of slats first subjected to flow, which single slat is arranged close to a housing wall of the slat of one of the rows of slats which is in the same alignment close to the wall. The single slat is moved, during the shifting of the operating handle, into a selected end position against the pivoting direction of the actuated slats after passing over their central position, so that the air stream is directed away from the housing wall and in the direction of the associated, oppositely disposed slats.

Abstract: A repair method for repairing stone or gravel impact damages on windshields of multi-layer safety glass, in which the damaged place is covered with a transparent suction cup, a vacuum is produced underneath the suction cup and a liquid-clear hardening synthetic resinous material is applied onto the damaged place by means of an injection needle pierced through the suction cup. Compared to known repair methods, the method of this invention requires a lesser apparatus expenditure and can be carried out in a more simple manner.
Abstract: The aperture between a positionally stable vehicle passenger space end wall and a steering spindle shaft penetrating a bore in the wall is masked by a sealing sleeve which exhibits a bellows which compensates an offset of the shaft by modification of its form. Attached to the sealing sleeve is a second sleeve with which the first sleeve forms a sound-insulating closed air chamber.
Abstract: The proper functioning of a control system (such as an ABS, ASR) that secures the adhesion of the wheels, by analyzing wheel rotating speed signals, is determined by comparing acceleration signals determined from the wheel rotating speed signals with accelerated signals measured by acceleration sensors on the vehicle. If they do not correspond within given limits during absence of control system control signal, the control system is disabled by an error signal and a warning indicator is activated.

Abstract: A arrangement for determining the injection course in an internal combustion engine in which the injection development could not be used heretofore in practice as guide magnitude in the engine control because no stationary measuring sensors are available for the pressure in the injection valve and a through-flow measurement at the feed line to the injection valve is very inaccurate by reason of the occurrence of gas, respectively, vapor bubbles. According to the present invention, the pressure in the injection valve, respectively, the quantity or the flow of the occurring injection medium is derived by a computer from signals of measurement transmitters which determine the stroke of the closure element of the injection valve and the pressure in the feed line to the injection valve or the force with which the closure element of the injection valve abuts in its open end position at an abutment.

Abstract: The invention concerns an external mirror for vehicles, having a mirror casing, in which a mirror glass is held so as to be adjustable, the mirror casing being held stationary, in the operating position, on a mirror base. In the event of a collision, the mirror casing can pivot away, either to the front or to the rear, about two approximately vertical axes located one behind the other in the direction of travel. In the case of a rigid streamlined fairing for both the mirror casing and the mirror base, there are certain problems in pivoting the fairing parts forward so as to avoid contact. To deal with this, the invention proposes a guide part which is rigidly located relative to the mirror casing and which interacts with a guide track in the mirror base. The guide track is so designed that when the mirror casing executes a pivoting motion in the forward direction, the mirror casing first lifts off from the mirror base.

Abstract: A coupling device for rods required to be connected together is proposed, with a connecting element having bores on both sides, into which the ends of the rods can be inserted. One bore ends in an internal ring-shaped groove coaxial to it, in which an angled end of the rod is accommodated. The other bore is constructed as a screw-threaded bore, into which the rod is engageable by a screw-threaded shoulder. In order to insert the angled end, the connecting element is provided on its housing part with a releasable cover part, which can be closed and caught afterwards. A precise length adjustment of the rods is possible by rotating the connecting element.
Abstract: A display for displaying the velocity of a vehicle and the rotational speed of the vehicle engine is proposed, the velocity being represented in an annular segment and the speed being represented within a sector-shaped electronic indicator as quasi-analog luminous display band.
Abstract: In a tilt-adjustable seat cushion for a vehicle seat having an underframe receiving the upholstered seat part, two lateral frame parts for the pivotable bearing of the underframe and a tilt-adjusting mechanism operating between the underframe and the frame parts for the individual adjusting of the front edge of the seat, the manually operated adjusting shaft of the tilt-adjusting mechanism, in order to facilitate the assembly, is disposed in a separate bearing block that, after pre-assembly with the frame parts and the adjusting shaft, is connected with the underframe by screws or clips.
Abstract: A tilting ashtray for motor vehicles, the facing part of which is milled out of a facing plate covering the surroundings, has a burning-ash protection strip which is integrally formed closely beneath an upper-lying milled-through transverse gap onto the facing part.
Abstract: In an antilocking ABS and propulsion ASR control system for a road vehicle, there is a brake pressure regulating member used for both antilocking ABS and for propulsion ASR control in which a hydraulic cylinder having a piston driven under valve controls defines an ABS control space, increasing when a drive pressure space of the cylinder is subjected to pressure, and an ASR outlet pressure space, decreasing when the drive pressure space of the hydraulic cylinder is subjected to pressure; and wherein, in normal braking, not subjected to ABS or ASR control, both spaces are connected to the brake circuit of the driven vehicle wheels. The control system is activated as a result of the valve control connection of an auxiliary pressure source to the drive pressure space of the hydraulic cylinder.
Abstract: The invention relates to a direct fuel injection method for a diesel engine in which a preset quantity of fuel is introduced into a combustion space via a fuel injection nozzle in a preinjection and in a main injection which is separate from the preinjection. To achieve a short ignition delay with lowest possible specific fuel consumption during this process, the beginning of the preinjection occurs within the range of 10.degree.-16.degree. or of 20.degree.-30.degree. crank angle before top dead center, depending on speed, and the beginning of the main injection occurs within the range of 2.degree. after top dead center to 15.degree. before top dead center, the interval between the end of the preinjection and the beginning of the main injection being within the range of 3.degree. to 14.degree. or of 3.degree. to 26.degree. crank angle before top dead center and the preinjection quantity is 10% to 20% or 1% to 5% of the quantity of fuel preset in each case, depending on load.
