Abstract: A method for controlling a powertrain system includes monitoring operating conditions of an engine, a transmission device, and an energy storage device. The method further includes determining a first power constraint, filtering the first power constraint utilizing a first filter response time when the first power constraint changes in a first direction, and filtering the first power constraint utilizing a second filter response time when the first power constraint changes in a second direction.

Abstract: A method for controlling an electro-mechanical transmission through an unlocking state of a clutch, the transmission mechanically-operatively coupled to an internal combustion engine and an electric machine adapted to selectively transmit mechanical power to an output member includes decreasing a reactive torque acting upon the clutch, including overriding torque commands to the engine and to the electric machine, and simultaneously decreasing a clutch torque capacity, including, during a lead period selected according to an engine command reaction time, commanding an intermediate clutch torque command maintaining sufficient clutch torque capacity to exceed an initial reactive torque calculated at an initiation of the unlocking state, and following the lead period, decreasing through a ramp down the clutch torque capacity, maintaining sufficient clutch torque capacity to exceed the decreasing reactive torque.

Abstract: A storage compartment for a vehicle has a storage compartment cover which is pivotably mounted toward two sides. The latter can be pivoted either toward one side or toward the other side. In order to design the storage compartment such that it can be operated as simply and conveniently as possible and is secure, provision is made for the storage compartment cover to have two locked axes of rotation in its closed position. After one axis of rotation is released, a driving device automatically pivots the storage compartment cover in a damped manner into an open position.

Abstract: A method for operating a powertrain system includes monitoring a state of charge of an energy storage device and determining an effective state of charge based upon the monitored state of charge of the energy storage device and a range of available power from the energy storage device. A preferred output power to an output member is determined. A preferred charge state for operating the powertrain is concurrently selected with operating an engine in one of a cylinder deactivation state and an all-cylinder state based upon the effective state of charge and the preferred output power to the output member.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for multi-sensorial object detection, wherein sensor information is evaluated together from several different sensor signal flows having different sensor signal properties. For said evaluation, the at least two sensor signal flows are not adapted to each other and/or projected onto each other, but object hypotheses are generated in each of the at least two sensor signal flows and characteristics for at least one classifier are generated based of said object hypotheses. Said object hypotheses are subsequently evaluated by means of a classifier and are associated with one or more categories. At least two categories are identified and the object is associated with one of the two categories.

Abstract: Assistance systems are increasingly being used to assist vehicle drivers when driving their vehicles. To this end, a camera is used to record image data from the area surrounding a vehicle, and at least some of the image data (1) are shown on a display following object identification and image processing. After the image data have been recorded by the camera, they are processed using object identification in order to identify objects (2, 3) in the recorded image data. At least some of the objects (2, 3) which have been identified in this manner are highlighted when showing the image data (1) on the display. In this case, the identified objects (2, 3) are highlighted in such a manner that the image data (1) to be shown are divided into two types of regions. In this case, the first type of region comprises the objects (2, 3) which have been identified and are to be highlighted and a surrounding region (2a, 3a) which respectively directly adjoins the latter in a corresponding manner.

Abstract: A hybrid powertrain system includes torque generative devices to transfer power to an output member. An operator torque request, a rotational direction and speed of the output member, and a signal output from a transmission range selector are monitored. When a change in a direction of intended motion is determined, the powertrain system can change rotational direction of the output member when the speed of the output member is less than a threshold. The powertrain can inhibit a change in the rotational direction of the output member.
