Abstract: A shielded electrical connector usable in conjunction with a household electrical appliance such as a cordless iron. The connector comprises a plug and a socket, the socket having a movable baffle which is held closed when the plug is not engaged with the socket, to isolate the socket's electrical contacts behind a shield section of the baffle. The socket also has a baffle arm, isolated from the shield section of the baffle, by which the baffle may be opened. The plug bears a projection which engages the baffle arm as the plug engages the socket. The socket also has an electrical switch which activates the socket's electrical contacts after the plug is substantially engaged with the socket.
Abstract: A coated article and method of forming the same. The article is composed of a carbon body having a thermochemically deposited coating which renders the body resistant to oxidation at high temperatures. The coating is formed of a silicon alloy having a non-columnar grain distribution with substantially equiaxial grains of an average diameter of less than one micron. The amount of silicon in the coating is in excess of the alloy stoichiometry, producing infusion of silicon, with such at or above its melting temperature, into the cracked mosaic of the coating, to form an oxidative resistant glass filler.
Abstract: A cooking dish including a cover having at least one opening that allows controlled venting and access into the interior of the dish. At least one opening is formed in the periphery of the cover, and the dish has at least one ledge facing the cover. The opening in the cover may be blocked or unblocked to various degrees depending on where it is positioned over the ledge of the dish.
Abstract: An adjustable carrier for multiple stacked containers, the carrier including a lower collar positionable peripherally about and lockably engagable with the lowermost container, an upper collar engagable about the uppermost container in cover retaining relationship therewith, and multiple straps engaged between the collars. Each strap is snap-locked to the lower collar and projects vertically into an adjustable ratchet and pawl engagement with the upper collar. The upper collar incorporates an integral handle which receives any excess length of the straps therein.
Abstract: A container for condiments and the like comprising vertical side walls, a bottom wall integral with the side walls, and a removable top wall snap-fitted to the upper ends of the side walls and including multiple distinct dispensing ports. A cover, mountable over the top wall and sealing each of the ports therethrough, includes a movable component which, upon displacement, exposes one of the discharge ports. The cover is mountable in predetermined positions relative to the top wall for alignment of the movable component with any one of the discharge ports for a selective exposure thereof while the remaining ports are maintained sealed.
