  • Patent number: 5113745
Abstract: A stabilizing device for a gun comprising a gyroscope and a mounting assembly attached to the gyroscope for resiliently connecting the gyroscope to a gun. The mounting assembly has a gyroscope slide carriage and a first resilient member connected to the gyroscope slide carriage. The first resilient member allows the gyroscope slide carriage to move longitudinally relative to the gun. A second resilient member is interconnected to the first resilient member and to the gyroscope slide carriage. The second resilient member allows the gyroscope slide carriage to move transverse to the longitudinal axis of the gun. The first resilient member includes a pneumatic cylinder, a piston slidably received within the pneumatic cylinder, and a piston rod connected to the piston at one end and to the gyroscope slide carriage at the other end. The mounting assembly further includes a fixed frame member, a pivot frame member, and a slide rod affixed to and extending between the fixed frame member and the pivot frame member.

  • Patent number: 5113097
Abstract: A level shifter circuit has a pair of voltage buses, first and second p-channel MOS transistors and third and fourth n-channel MOS transistors. Each transistor has a gate to control conduction. The first and third transistors are connected in series between the voltage buses and the second and fourth transistors are connected in series between the voltage buses. A node between the first and second transistors is connected to the gates of the second and fourth transistors. An input signal having one of first and second levels is applied to the gate of the first transistor while the inverse of the input signal is applied to the gate of the second transistor. One voltage bus is connected through one of the second and fourth transistors in response to the first level input signal. The other voltage bus is connected the other of the second and fourth transistors in response to the second level input signal.

  • Patent number: 5112311
Abstract: A slotted guard for locking a needle in a shielded position as the needle is removed from a patient, and a guarded winged needle assembly including not only such a slotted, locking guard, but also a needle (with a winged hub attached thereto) slidably mounted within the guard. Preferably, the guard's slot has an angled portion so that when the hub and needle are fully retracted within the guard, the needle's tip will be oriented away from the slot. Also preferably, a piece of absorptive material is disposed in the guard to absorb any fluid dripping from the needle tip after the needle has been locked in its retracted position within the guard following an injection.

  • Patent number: 5110316
Abstract: A practical joke device comprises a mouthpiece attached to a rolled-up (or deflated) display portion. The display portion can be unrolled (or inflated) and thereby extended by delivering air thereto by way of the mouthpiece, in order, in use, to display information carried thereon. The display portion comprises a panel adapted for carrying and displaying information. The panel has such size and dimensions that, in the unrolled, extended (or inflated) state at least one dimension of the panel is about 3 or more times greater than the width of the mouthpiece. The at least one dimension is generally transverse to the extension direction of the display panel. In the unrolled, extended (or inflated) state, the extension direction of the display panel may be displaced from the axis of the mouthpiece.

  • Patent number: 5106339
Abstract: A system and method of monitoring the moisture of grain as it is being harvested by a combine. The moisture of the grain is continuously measured as the grain is traveling through a clean grain auger of the combine. These moisture measurements are displayed to the combine operator in the cab of the combine. A multiprocessor is provided to sample and store the moisture measurements. The multiprocessor also averages the stored measurements so that the operator can obtain the average moisture content of grain harvested from operator-defined areas of a field.

  • Patent number: 5092810
Abstract: A toy audio generating device is disclosed for use as an accessory to another toy, for example as a backpack for a toy action figure. The toy audio device comprises a receptacle defining an enclosure containing a speaker and plural batteries laid out side-by-side adjacent the end of the speaker opposite the sound projecting portion of the speaker. A printed circuit board containing circuitry for generating audio signals is located in a space alongside the speaker under a side wall of the enclosure. A switch for activating sound generation is mounted to that side wall and directly contacts the printed circuit board.

  • Patent number: 5089429
Abstract: A process is disclosed for forming bipolar transistors in a BiCMOS process which is fully compatible with the CMOS process used to form other devices in the same integrated circuit. The process produces bipolar transistor sizes which are compatible with the minimum size features and design rules of the CMOS process. A CVD silicon oxide layer to be used to form spacers is deposited on the top of emitter and gate electrodes covered with a first oxide layer.

  • Patent number: 5076245
Abstract: This invention has an inlet for either gaseous or liquified gases (LP gas requiring a vaporizer within the system) with the proper passages from the inlet to a back seated fuel valve which is opened by a pressure differential (vacuum from the idle system) across a diaphragm engaging a lever which moves a sealed actuating pin inward to open the fuel valve allowing gaseous fuels to move to the outlet through a proper confining passage. Placed between the outlet and the vacuum chamber of the fuel valve diaphragm is a chamber divided by a free floating diaphragm providing two chambers, one chamber is either balanced for air cleaner resistance or vented to the atmosphere, the other chamber having a free passage to the outlet and a passage in the center of the chamber, having communication with the vacuum side of the fuel valve diaphragm, which is throttled by the floating diaphragm diluting the idle vacuum signal to position the fuel valve.

  • Patent number: 5069325
Abstract: A shopping cart rental system containing one or more stations (49) per shopping center, several locking mechanisms (43) per station, and one shopping cart per locking mechanism. A bail (23) permanently fastened to a shopping cart locks into the locking mechanism. Three quarters inserted into the three coin slots (28) and simultaneously depressed by the flap (34) mechanically unlock the bail, releasing the cart. When the cart is returned and the bail is reinserted into the locking mechanism, the locking mechanism once again secures the bail in place and at the same time returns, by mechanical actuation only, one of the three quarters that was initially used to release the cart.
