  • Patent number: 5651945
Abstract: A carbon black reactor having a combustion chamber, a mixing chamber and a reaction chamber positioned along a longitudinal axis of the reactor. The chambers communicate with each other so as to provide a flow path for the hot combustion gases as the combustion gases travel from the combustion chamber, through the mixing chamber and into the reaction chamber. The mixing chamber is designed in the form of an axial narrow area in a dividing wall separating the combustion chamber from the reaction chamber. In addition to the mixing chamber, the combustion chamber and the reaction chamber additionally communicate with each other through at least one bypass bore provided in the dividing wall and positioned radially externally to the mixing chamber and internally to the surface of the combustion chamber. The bypass bores can be either axially aligned so as to be parallel to a central, axial axis of the mixing chamber or inclined.

  • Patent number: 5632965
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for increasing the storage stability of sodium percarbonate (2 Na.sub.2 CO.sub.3.3 H.sub.2 O.sub.2) by coating with a sodium perborate.According to the present invention wet sodium percarbonate salt, obtained by reacting sodium carbonate with hydrogen peroxide in aqueous phase and separating the salt from the aqueous phase, is treated with a solution or suspension containing sodium perborate in a solid-liquid separator by a kind of displacement wash. In contrast to previously known methods, according to the present invention a greater storage stability is attained with smaller quantities of perborate coating.

  • Patent number: 5622430
Abstract: A method of testing heat insulation shaped bodies for purposes of evaluation wherein a shaped heat insulation body is placed in a measuring space where the initial temperature of the heat insulation body is measured under ambient conditions prior to heating. The shaped heat insulation body is then subjected to thermal radiation for contactless heating for a sufficient period of time to heat the body to an elevated temperature. Then the radiation is removed and the initial temperature decrease of the body is measured with contactless temperature measurement to obtain a temperature/time profile. The thermal conduction coefficient .vertline.k.vertline. is calculated as follows: ##EQU1## and compared with a standard thermal conduction coefficient, wherein (t) is time, .theta..sub.o is the temperature the surface of said body after heating, .theta..sub.u is the temperature of the surroundings, and .theta.(t) is the surface temperature at the time (t).
