  • Patent number: 7093575
Abstract: An improved pin housing sub-assembly configured for reliable assembly and stability as an intermediate sub-assembly. The length of the plunger return spring is greater than the diameter of the spring well in the pin housing, such that the spring cannot be accidentally installed sideways in the well. During assembly, the non-compressed longer spring places the pushrod seat flush with the end of the pin housing. A shallow annular groove is provided in the inner wall of the pin housing near the outer end thereof, and an expansion ring may be installed therein when the plunger return spring is slightly compressed. The expansion ring holds the sub-assembly together as an intermediate but is displaced by the spring tower in a subsequent assembly step to become the locking ring between the pin housing and the spring tower, as in the prior art.

  • Patent number: 7094081
Abstract: The present invention provides an electrical connector assembly and a method of mating the same. The electrical connector assembly includes a panel sub-assembly which mates to at least one electrical connector body. Preferably two cam leveraging devices which rotate in opposing directions are mounted rotatably to the panel sub-assembly for sliding engagement of respective cam studs engaged rigidly to the electrical connector body. Opposing rotations of the cam leveraging devices along respective and parallel rotation axes causes the panel sub-assembly to move linearly along a mating axis disposed orthogonally to the rotation axes and toward the electrical connector body to a staged position. During linear panel sub-assembly movement from the disconnected position to the staged position, the cam studs slide against a first portion of a track carried by respective cam levers and which generally spirals radially inward toward the rotation axis.

  • Patent number: 7093572
Abstract: A roller finger follower rocker arm assembly for deactivating an engine valve. A follower body pivots on a hydraulic lash adjuster, and engages a valve stem or lifter. The body receives a reciprocating member having a first and second rollers outboard of the body for following eccentrics of a cam lobe that straddles the body, the body having elongate openings on either side of the reciprocating member. A locking pin selectively locks and unlocks the body to the reciprocating member. The reciprocating member does not make contact with the cam lobe and functions only as a link between the latching mechanism and the rollers. The pin engages the reciprocating member by a latching spring and is disengaged by pressurized oil supplied through the hydraulic lash adjuster. Means is provided for limiting axial growth of the HLA during deactivation mode of the rocker arm assembly.

  • Patent number: 7093776
Abstract: A director plate system for a fuel injector for use in an internal combustion engine. The system includes flow channels for directing the fuel stream radially inward toward the discharge holes. The cross-sectional area of the flow channels diminish inwardly, in the direction of flow, to accelerate the fuel stream. A swirl element, for imparting tangential velocities or eddies to a plurality of individual fuel streams, can be combined with the radially inward directed flow channels. The director plate system may be provided as individual plates in a stack or may be combined with each other and/or the valve seat in a variety of plate configurations to simplify the number of components.

  • Patent number: 7095206
Abstract: Certain circuit faults in a phase of a multi-pole, switched reluctance, rotary electrical machine are detected; and the machine is selectively operated with a detected circuit fault when the nature of the fault permits continued operation of the phase and the operation of the phase is desirable. The fault may be one of certain short or open circuits in which at least one of the two current controlling electronic switches is operable to control phase current within predetermined limits. In the continued operation when a fault is detected, (1) the phase current is switched off earlier than it would be in the absence of the fault and/or (2) the maximum phase current is reduced compared with that permitted in the absence of the fault; and either or both of these modifications may be a function of motor speed. If the circuit fault adversely affects current control by an electronic switch normally controlling current level, another electronic switch is substituted for current control.

  • Patent number: 7095757
Abstract: A system optimizes terrestrial signal acquisition in a communication system by initially determining whether a first synchronization signal is available from a first ensemble, which has an associated first programmed content of a terrestrial signal. Next, when the first synchronization signal is not available from the first ensemble, the system switches to a second ensemble of the terrestrial signal to acquire a second synchronization signal, which is synchronized with the first synchronization signal. Finally, the system switches back to the first ensemble to retrieve the associated first programmed content.
