  • Patent number: 7651925
Abstract: A frame and vacuum expansion chuck are used in combination for stretching a tape carrying a plurality of singulated devices to facilitate removal of the devices with reduced risk of contact between a device being removed from the tape and an adjacent device on the tape. The combination includes a frame for holding edges of a tape carrying a plurality of singulated devices, and a vacuum chuck having upper surfaces for contacting an underside of a tape carrying a plurality of singulated devices. The vacuum chuck extends along a perimeter circumscribing the singulated devices, and at least one groove is defined in the upper surface of the vacuum chuck. Conduit for providing fluid communication between the groove and a vacuum source are provided. Upon evacuation of the volume defined between the groove and the tape, the tape is drawn down into the groove and stretched, thereby increasing the separation or gap between adjacent dice and reducing the risk of damage upon removal of the dice.

  • Patent number: 7650757
Abstract: A thermoelectric heat transfer system is provided. The thermoelectric heat transfer system comprises a coolant circuit with a pump circulating coolant through the circuit. A first heat exchanger is in fluid communication with the coolant circuit to remove heat from the coolant. At the same time, a second heat exchanger is in fluid communication with the coolant circuit. Thermoelectric modules (TEMs) are integrated into the second heat exchanger to create a temperature differential between fins and conduits of the second heat exchanger. The coolant flows through the conduits to draw heat from the TEMs, while a fan assembly conveys air through the fins into a climate-controlled area to cool the climate-controlled area to a desired temperature. In other embodiments, a sleeve acts as the second heat exchanger. The sleeve is adapted to receive and cool beverage containers and like items.

  • Patent number: 7648784
Abstract: A fuel cell APU system comprising a plurality of fuel cell modules connected in parallel. Each module includes a local controller connected to a master controller that coordinates the modules to achieve a desired power output at any given time. Each module is operated within an output range to maximize efficiency of the system. When load demand on a first module exceeds the desired output range of the module, an additional module is brought online in parallel with the first. As the load increases further, additional modules are brought online in cascade fashion to permit all modules to be operated efficiently. If a module is disabled, it is automatically switched out of service and replaced by a standby module. The master controller keeps track of the total operating time of each module and varies the sequence in which different modules are brought into service to balance deterioration among the modules.

  • Patent number: 7647919
Abstract: A direct fuel injection control for an internal combustion engine includes first and second controllers. The first controller has a microprocessor and generates injection timing and duration signals on injector select lines. The second controller is a state machine including injector controls that receive the injection timing and duration signals and control injector current according to sets of injector current profile defining parameters received from the first controller on a serial bus and stored in register sets in the second controller. The second controller includes switching apparatus that can quickly change the connection of each injector control between different register sets to select different injector current profiles in successive injection pulses. Several alternative ways of providing register select signals are disclosed, and these may be incorporated in the same second controller for selection by the first controller.
