Patent number: 7118991Abstract: A method of processing a wafer, and particularly a cap wafer configured for mating with a device wafer in the production of a die package. Masking layers are deposited on oxide layers present on opposite surfaces of the wafer, after which the masking layers are etched to expose regions of the underlying oxide layers. Thereafter, an oxide mask is formed on the exposed regions of the oxide layers, but is prevented from forming on other regions of the oxide layers masked by the masking layers. The masking layers are then removed and the underlying regions of the oxide layers and the wafer are etched to simultaneously produce through-holes and recesses in the wafer. The oxide mask is then removed to allow mating of the cap wafer with a device wafer.Type: GrantFiled: April 1, 2004Date of Patent: October 10, 2006Assignee: Delphi Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Troy A. Patent number: 7117927Abstract: A mounting system for a heat exchanger assembly consisting of a plastic bracket secured to the heat exchanger after brazing and requires no additional fasteners. The bracket includes a pair of arms that extend over a reinforcement member and engage a core. The first arm presents a resilient finger extending in a cantilever fashion to a protrusion presenting a ramp. The ramp allows the finger to flex outward as the bracket is assembled over the reinforcement member until the ramp snaps over and engages an edge on the reinforcement member. A notch and hole on the reinforcement member align with a male post and a second section of the bracket to limit movement of the bracket relative to the heat exchanger assembly. The arms have aligned openings, to create an airway through the bracket.Type: GrantFiled: September 14, 2004Date of Patent: October 10, 2006Assignee: Delphi Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Scott Edward Kent, David A. Patent number: 7119434Abstract: A CPU cooling assembly having a first, covering layer of conductive material above the upper surface of an enclosed, heat producing chip and a third, upper layer of conductive material (a heat sink base plate) thermally bonded to the first by an intermediate, second layer of thin, conforming material (thermal grease) that is far less thermally conductive, and more resistive, than the other two layers. The relative thickness relationship of the first and third, more conductive, layers is essentially reversed from the prior art, with first layer being relatively thicker than the third. This creates an overall lower resistance for the three layer sandwich.Type: GrantFiled: July 5, 2005Date of Patent: October 10, 2006Assignee: Delphi Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Debashis Ghosh, Mohinder Singh Bhatti, Ilya Reyzin

Patent number: 7107136Abstract: A method and apparatus for determining likelihood of rollover of a vehicle and/or mitigating rollover of the vehicle is responsive to measured vehicle lateral acceleration and a measured one of vehicle roll rate and vehicle suspension displacements to derive estimates of roll angle and roll rate. First, preliminary, estimates of roll angle and roll rate are derived and used as pseudo-measurements in a dynamic, closed loop observer equation which represents a model of the vehicle in a first roll mode for roll angles small compared to a reference value indicating two wheel lift-off and a second roll mode for roll angles at least near a reference value indicating two wheel lift-off. The observer equation has parameters and gains with values for each mode stored as a function of roll angle index derived from measurements and pseudo-measured values. The observer equation produces second, improved values or roll angle and roll rate together indicating the likelihood of vehicle rollover.Type: GrantFiled: August 27, 2002Date of Patent: September 12, 2006Assignee: Delphi Technologies, Inc.Inventors: David John Barta, Aleksander Boguslaw Hac
