  • Patent number: 7371601
Abstract: A technique for manufacturing a piezoresistive sensing structure includes a number of process steps. Initially, a piezoresistive element is implanted into a first side of an assembly that includes a semiconductor material. A passivation layer is then formed on the first side of the assembly over the element. The passivation layer is then removed from selected areas on the first side of the assembly. A first mask is then provided on the passivation layer in a desired pattern. A beam, which includes the element, is then formed in the assembly over at least a portion of the assembly that is to provide a cavity. The passivation layer provides a second mask, in the formation of the beam, that determines a width of the formed beam.

  • Patent number: 7370970
Abstract: The presence of eyeglasses worn by a human subject is detected regardless of whether the subject's head is viewed frontally or in profile. Image data within search windows defined relative to the subject's eye is processed to form linear representations of edge boundaries. Angles formed by intersections of the linear representations are determined and used as a basis for determining if eyeglass lenses are present. When prescribed eyeglass components are detected, the eye detection and tracking routines are configured accordingly.

  • Patent number: 7373234
Abstract: A transmission control arrangement controls the generation of a required solenoid control current that is provided to an electro-hydraulic pressure control module to ultimately control clutch pressure. The module includes a linear solenoid, which has an up direction pressure-current (P-I) data table and a down direction pressure-current (P-I) data table associated therewith. For large pressure increase change requests the up P-I table is used. For large pressure decrease change requests the down P-I table is used. An interpolation process uses current values taken from both the up and down P-I data tables for pressure change requests that are neither large increases nor large decreases. The control arrangement also includes a variable gain feature that changes the gain in dependence on the gear state of the transmission.

  • Patent number: 7371115
Abstract: A mat seal device for preventing water from entering an electrical connector through an opening provided for cables to be inserted into the connector. The device includes an elastic mat that plugs an opening in the connector. A peripheral edge seal of the mat seals between the mat and an inner surface of the connector housing. • Patent number: 7373127
Abstract: An antenna-receiver communications system and method is provided to mechanize multibeam mobile antenna-receive subsystems. Digital beam forming for modern wideband mobile communications systems is provided. In an aspect, subsystems can simultaneously receive, acquire, track and output a multiplicity of signals from sources of different locations using a single antenna aperture from a mobile platform. The angle of arrival of a signal of interest is continuously determined. Individual phased array antenna output channels are phased aligned as required by the phased array equation and monopulse signal processing. Angle sensing and beamsteering are separated from antenna channel coherent summation. Thus, the angle sensing and beamsteering functions are not required to be computed at the data rate, but can instead be computed at a rate necessary for the beam acquisition and beam tracking function speed requirements. Signal processing computational load and system cost is reduced as compared to current systems.

  • Patent number: 7367598
Abstract: A power striker assembly effects final positioning of a vehicle closure member and includes a fixed frame and a striker member carried on a striker plate for selective engagement of a latch carried on the closure member, to displace the closure member from a presented position to a cinched position. Guide means interconnects the frame and striker plate to effect simultaneous translational and rotational displacement of the striker plate between end limits of travel to produce linear displacement of the striker member. An actuator selectively displaces the striker plate between its end limits of travel in response to a control signal. Finally, an interlock fixes the striker plate in the cinched position in the absence of the control signal.
