Patent number: 6720763Abstract: A rotary position sensor featuring a magnetized rotor which produces a magnetic flux density that varies sinusoidally with respect to the angular position of the rotor, which may be either a selectively magnetized ring or disk. The magnetic flux density produced by the rotor is measured by a sensor that responds in a linear fashion to the magnitude of the radial component of the magnetic flux density. Typical embodiments would use magnetic flux density sensors, as for example either linear Hall sensors or magnetoresistive type sensors. The measured magnetic flux densities are then used as in a traditional resolver to compute position or used to directly generate control signals to operate, for example, a motor.Type: GrantFiled: September 5, 2000Date of Patent: April 13, 2004Assignee: Delphi Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Thomas Wolfgang Nehl, Thaddeus Schroeder, Nady Boules, Rassem Ragheb Henry

Patent number: 6712503Abstract: A method to calculate a fuel driveability index (DI) value is provided from a sample of fuel in a container as tested by the industry standard ASTM D86 test providing particular temperature data at various percentages of evaporation as the container is heated. The particular temperature data provides a DI value. The same sample of fuel is tested on a sensor capable of retaining a predetermined volume of fuel. Temperature data is monitored at the same percentages of evaporation as the sensor is being heated. Correlation equations are mathematically calculated between the temperature data from the sensor relative to the particular temperature data from the ASTM D86 test and stored in the engine controller of a vehicle. The fuel from the fuel tank is tested by heating a similar on-board sensor having the predetermined volume of fuel and measuring the temperature data as a function of the remaining fuel in the sensor.Type: GrantFiled: April 8, 2002Date of Patent: March 30, 2004Assignee: Delphi Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Yingjie Lin, Han-Sheng Lee, Su-Chee Simon Wang

Patent number: 6714771Abstract: A broadcast radio frequency receiver includes an improved seek circuit receiving analog radio signals via an antenna according to a signal seek process wherein the frequency of the analog radio signals sequentially changes. In one embodiment, an analog-to-digital (A/D) converter converts the magnitudes of the incoming radio signals to digital signal values (DV), and in an alternate embodiment a tuning circuit provides the digital signal values (DV) directly. In either case, a digital control circuit compares the digital signal values (DV) with a digital reference value (DRV), wherein DRV has a value corresponding to an analog signal reference level appropriate for the type of antenna being used. As long as the digital signal values are less than DRV, the seek process continues. Upon detection of a digital signal value in excess of DRV, the seek process is halted and the tuning circuit is allowed to maintain tuning to the current radio signal.Type: GrantFiled: November 14, 2000Date of Patent: March 30, 2004Assignee: Delphi Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Louis Leonard Nagy, Douglas Courtney Martin, Anthony E Kaczor, Janalee Ann Graham
