Abstract: The invention provides an efficient structure for synthesized static arrays. Array structures are very common in chip design, and often when doing ASIC design the option of custom-designing these arrays does not exist, therefore necessitating that the arrays be synthesized, placed and routed on silicon in a manner similar to random logic. Standard array structures are not easily synthesized, placed and routed. The invention takes advantage of the case in which the design requirements are such that the array is loaded in whole and then remains static for a period of time. The array implementation writes one column of the array (instead of a row) at a time so that the desired contents of the array are “rotated” 90 degrees before being written to the array. This allows the latches in a column to share a gated clock signal, which allows for an array placement optimized for clock distribution and for general routing density.

Abstract: A remote control for an interactive television system includes an integrated camera and a wireless transmitter for transmitting video information captured by the camera to the interactive television system. A set top box for the interactive television system includes a wireless receiver for receiving the video information and a converter for transforming the video information into a network-compatible video stream for transmission to a network.

Abstract: A remote device is capable to receive network address information, such as uniform resource locator (URL) addresses, and other supplemental content that are available along with television signal. A set top box coupled to a television receives the network address information via triggers. The set top box transmits a television program from a first channel to a television, and transmits network address information associated with a second channel to the remote device. After receiving the network address information, the remote device can display the corresponding supplemental content while a viewer is watching the first channel on the television. The supplemental content can include program-related address information and/or non-programming-related content. In another technique, the viewer can subscribe certain channels, such that supplemental content on the subscribed channels is obtained and stored, and can be made available to the remote device via the set top box or via a different communication link.

Abstract: A data broadcasting system is disclosed. The data broadcasting system operates by receiving source material from a number of different sources. The source material is processed by performing adding error correction encoding and in some cases, encryption. The source material from the different sources is then multiplexed together and broadcast on a broadcast medium. The multiplexed digital broadcast is received by a plurality of receiver systems. The receiver systems demultiplex the multiplexed digital stream to obtain desired digital streams. The desired streams are then decrypted if necessary.

Abstract: A remote control for a digital video recorder includes an integrated display screen configured to display a list of programs. The list may be an EPG, a list of programs to be recorded, or a list of recorded programs. A user can navigate through the list to select a television program, as well as various digital recording/playback operations to be performed for the selected television program.
