A spa structure includes a compartment defining a location that receives a device to be used in conjunction with a spa, and a surface coupled with the compartment and matching a shape of a skirt of the spa. The surface can form a section of the skirt of the spa when attached to the spa. The skirt section can be attached to the spa by being raised under a lip of the spa and can be secured with battens and screws. The skirt section can form exterior steps providing access to the spa and can have a sinusoidal shape. The skirt section can include an integrated lifting mechanism that serves as a support when in a nested position.

Abstract: A tactile therapy system for use in a spa, hot tub, or pool. The tactile therapy system is based, at least in part, on the hand or foot maps specified in the reflexology art. The system thus includes a pattern of protrusions configured in accordance with reflexology hand map or foot map on which an individual may apply his or her hands or feet. The reflexology-based tactile therapy system may optionally be combined with hydrotherapy, by placing hydrotherapy jets among the pattern of protrusions.

Abstract: A curvilinear spa frame apparatus and method that provides support to a curvilinear spa shell design, including a frame comprising a top curvilinear rail, a bottom curvilinear rail, and one or more box sections aligned to be within the confines of the curvilinear spa shell providing stiffness for the completed frame. The box sections can include sheets that align with corresponding notches in the curvilinear spa frame increasing rigidity and facilitating alignment of the spa frame components during assembly.

Abstract: Systems and techniques to facilitate lifting and access to compartments, such as spa compartments that contain spa features. A structure includes a base, risers rotatably coupled with an underside of the base, a support frame rotatably coupled with the risers, rollers rotatably coupled with the support frame, and one or more lever-arms rotatably coupled with at least one of the risers, the one or more lever-arms supporting the base when the support frame is in a nested position, and the one or more lever-arms providing leverage during transition from the nested position to an actuated position of the support frame, said transition causing the base to lower and be movable on the rollers.

Abstract: A system and method for reducing the collection of debris in a fluid pumping system. The system and method may be used in pools, spas, or other applications in which fluids are circulated through a fluid-containing vessel. The system includes a first pump that circulates fluid. A screen is coupled to the input of the first pump and acts to prevent debris from reaching the first pump. A second pump may be used to remove debris from the screen.

Abstract: A switching assembly that can be used on a spa, pool, bathtub, or aquarium shell without the need to form a hole in the shell. The switching assembly includes an actuator that is mounted on an interior surface of the shell and is exposed at least in part to water held by the shell. The actuator may be mounted above or below the water line. The switching assembly also includes a switch that is responsive to the actuator and is mounted on the opposite, exterior surface of the shell. The switch responds to stimulus from the actuator without the need to form a hole in the shell between the switch and the actuator. The actuator may include a magnet that produces a magnetic field, and the switch may include a reed switch, which changes state in response to the absence or presence of the magnetic field generated by the actuator magnet. The magnet may be supported by a button attached to the shell, and the button protects the magnet from exposure to water and chemicals held in the shell.

Abstract: An adjustable headrest for a spa tub includes a housing defining a first recess for receiving a pillow for supporting the head of an occupant. A spa tub defines a second recess for slidingly receiving the housing. A positioning device, coupled to the housing and the recess of the spa tub, allows adjustment of the height of the housing relative to the spa tub. A front surface of the housing and the pillow lie flush with adjacent surfaces of the spa tub. The adjustable headrest further includes a water jet, mounted on the housing below the pillow, for directing water (but preferably not air to reduce splashing) under pressure towards the neck of the occupant. The direction of the water leaving the water jet can be adjusted.

Abstract: A mixing system for introducing ozone into water of a hydrotherapy spa includes filter for filtering water from said hydrotherapy spa. A pump draws water from said hydrotherapy spa through said filter. A first injector includes a first input for receiving filtered water from said filter, a second input for receiving ozone, and an output for providing a first mixture of ozone in solution with said filtered water and ozone not in solution with said filtered water. A recapturing unit, coupled to said output of said first injector, separates said ozone not in solution with said filtered water from said first mixture. A second injector, having a first input coupled to said recapturing unit, a second input coupled to said filter, and an output, provides a second mixture of said ozone not in solution with said filtered water and said filtered water at said output of said second injector means.
