Abstract: Intelligent, policy-based network selection for telecommunications networks is disclosed. A network is selected for user equipment (UE) to switch/attach to based on policy logic incorporated into the UE, the carrier network, or both. The UE is dynamically configured with improved or optimal parameters for the selected network. The UE may be configured to access all of the capabilities of the selected network that its hardware supports. The carrier network may also include logic that assists with determining when to switch networks and which network to switch to. Such information may assist in determining which network is optimal for the given policy.

Abstract: Intelligent band switching is disclosed. “LO” bands are those with frequencies of less than one gigahertz (GHz) and “HI” bands are those with frequencies of approximately 1.7 GHz or more. Two or more LO bands may be aggregated (“LOLO”) when the signal strength received by user equipment (UE) is above a minimum signal strength threshold, for example. A LO band and a HI band may be aggregated (“LOHI”) when the signal strength received by the UE is below the minimum signal strength threshold. The UE may prefer to use LOLO based on a policy, and switching from LOLO to LOHI, and vice versa, is based on the comparison of the received signal strength to the minimum signal strength threshold. Three, four, or more LO bands may be aggregated if the resultant drop in signal strength is still above the minimum signal strength threshold, for instance.

Abstract: Systems, apparatus, and methods are described for responding to inoperative commands on a server device. In some embodiments, the disclosed technology facilitates pausing of content being played on a device without creating a bookmark of the location in the content at which the content was paused. In response to receiving the request to pause the content from playing, the server device generates a pause instruction to pause the content from playing. Upon expiry of a timeout interval, the server device automatically transforms the pause instruction into a stop instruction, which when executed causes stopping the content from playing. In some embodiments, the server device detects an user interaction event, prior to expiry of the timeout interval. Non-limiting examples of the user interaction may be shutting down the server device, switching from the content to a live broadcast program, switching from the content to another content, or exiting from the content.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method for communicating with a cloud SIM software. The method includes activating, on a user equipment (UE), a communication module, and connecting with a cloud SIM software located on a remote server. The method also includes sending, from the UE, a request for content to the cloud SIM software, and receiving, by the UE, the content from the cloud SIM software to a local chip on the UE to facilitate communication between the UE and one or more other UEs.

Abstract: A method for providing image content associated with music channels includes the steps of: receiving, from a user, a selection of a music television channel; providing, to the user, the music television channel associated with the user's selection, wherein the music television channel comprises a signal comprising audio information and metadata associated with the audio information; retrieving, based on the metadata associated with the audio information, visual content relevant to the audio information; and simultaneous providing to the user both the visual content and the audio information.

Abstract: Improved technical functionality is provided to dynamically select and seamlessly play advertisements immediately before playing of a recorded program upon selection of the recorded program for playing, or upon other detected events and conditions associated with the set-top-box (STB) or user. In some embodiments, this is performed by using metadata which may be delivered to and stored on a digital video recorder (DVR) prior to recording the program, providing a technical solution to enable opportunities for additional advertisement impressions. Playing of the advertisement may also or instead occur upon the recorded program finishing playing. Thus, the technical solution provides the additional opportunity for the content creator and/or the satellite television or cable service provider to sell advertising spots in addition to those already sold for breaks within the recorded program.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and machine-readable media for containerizing and adapting content items for delivery in a packet stream from a content provider system via one or more networks to an endpoint media device are disclosed. A content composite may be created for delivery in a packet stream from a content provider system to an endpoint media device. A containerization object may be configured with a container flag that indicates a content item and containerization specifications to facilitate performance of operations by the endpoint media device with respect to the content item. The content composite may be transmitted in accordance with composite transmission specifications. The endpoint media device may perform the operations facilitated by the containerization object of the content composite.

Abstract: Various arrangements of location-based in-vehicle restaurant menu systems are presented. In some embodiments, a location sensor that determines a global location of a vehicle is present. An in-vehicle display incorporated as part of the vehicle may be present. A location of the vehicle may be determined to correspond to a location-specific menu based on data received from the location sensor. A location-specific menu may be retrieved for the available restaurant location in response to determining the location of the vehicle. The location-specific menu may be output for presentation to the in-vehicle display, allowing a user to decide on his order before approaching an intercom system.

Abstract: Examples of the present disclosure describe systems and methods for detecting and remediating roadway hazards. In example aspects, a machine learning model is trained on a dataset related to roadway items. Input data may then be collected by a data collection engine and provided to a pattern recognizer. The pattern recognizer may extract roadway features (physical and non-physical) and recognized patterns from the input data and provide the extracted features to a trained machine learning model. The trained machine learning model may compare the extracted features to the model, and a risk value may be generated. The risk value may be compared to a risk value threshold. If the risk value is equal to or exceeds the risk threshold, then the input data may be classified as a roadway hazard. Remedial action may subsequently be triggered, e.g., notifying other vehicles on the roadway, notifying other devices of drivers on the roadway, and/or notifying interested third parties (e.g.

Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to methods and systems for remote access hardware testing. A user can remotely control probes connected to an oscilloscope to collect signal measurements of test points on a circuit board. The user can control the probe point position on the circuit board using an application on a device to enter the test point locations. In some implementations, a user controls the probe machine using remote controls and a camera video feed to identify the test points on the circuit board and capture measurements. The hardware testing system can automate the measurement process with a script or by using machine learning to identify test points via a camera, controlling the probe machine, and capturing measurements of the test point.

Abstract: Edge blockchain authentication for communications networks is disclosed. By using a blockchain approach instead of a conventional network function (NF) authentication approach, authentication for applications and services can be performed at an authenticating data center (ADC) without the need to involve the regional data center (RDC) and/or the national data center (NDC). Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) for individual NFs may not be needed. Once authenticated via the blockchain, legitimate transactions can interact with NFs.

Abstract: Systems and methods for updating television receiving devices (such as cable and satellite set-top boxes) include functionality that pre-downloads software or firmware updates for the receiving device on a mobile device, such as a smartphone, of a television service provider technician. In order to communicate the updates to the receiving device from the mobile device, during initial installation of the set-top box at the customer premises, the technician connects his or her mobile device to the same input of the set-top box that normally receives the television programming and remote software or firmware updates from the television service provider. The mobile device may include or be coupled to an adapter that adapts a signal and hardware interface from an output interface of the mobile device to a signal and hardware interface compatible with the input interface of the set-top box.

Abstract: A system includes an integrator node (IN), external to a building. A gateway, within the building, is coupled to the integrator node by a first link. A gateway outdoor unit access point (GOUAP) is coupled to the IN by a second link. The GOUAP is coupled to a user device by a third link. The gateway is coupled to a Cloud. The GOUAP provides access to the Cloud, by the user device, when the user device is outside the building. The first link and/or the second link utilizes MOCA. The third link utilizes Wi-Fi. An Internal Network Extender (INE) is coupled to the gateway by a fifth link and located within the building. While the user device is external to the building, the user device utilizes the third link, the second link, and the first link to communicatively couple with the gateway.

Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to methods and systems for distributing network connectivity from a gateway. The network access system can include a gateway with the ability to support regulating network access to various devices. The network access functionality can be configurable and customizable to various users or devices. The gateway can connect to a source and determine the bandwidth. Using the determined bandwidth, the gateway can allocate the bandwidth among the devices according to a priority order of the devices. In some implementations, the gateway can receive customizable features from the user for bandwidth allocation to devices connected the gateway. The gateway can track the network usage by MAC address of a device and disconnect the device from the network when the network usage reaches a threshold.

Abstract: A device for testing remote controls includes a main board, a data acquisition module (DAM), and one or more testing components. The main board communicates a testing instruction to the testing components which, then provide stimuli to a remote under test (RUT). The DAM receives, from the testing components, result data indicative of reaction(s) by the RUT to the stimuli. At least one of the stimuli is provided to the RUT and the result data is received by the DAM from the testing components. A first testing component provides a first stimuli to the RUT substantially simultaneously with a second testing component providing a second stimuli to the RUT. The first stimuli may include an acceleration of the RUT and the second stimuli may emulate a user action. The emulated user action emulates a button press, a button release, an audible input, and a touch screen action.

Abstract: An example method for visual testing of programmed display of content includes obtaining a workflow of test scenarios for visual testing of a display controlled by a set-top box (STB) device. The method also includes obtaining images that capture content displayed on the display, feeding the images to a trained machine learning model to detect display elements, and performing visual testing based on the detected display elements in accordance with visual expectations specified by the test scenarios.

Abstract: Internet gateway provisioning and evaluation of embedded subscriber identity module (eSIM) privileges is provided. The Internet gateway receives, from a device, a request to provision an embedded subscriber identity module (eSIM) of the device. The Internet gateway, in response to receiving the request to provision the eSIM of the device, causes the eSIM of the device to be provisioned with a profile. Provisioning the eSIM gives the device an ability to authenticate with a base station for communicating, via the base station, over a cellular communication protocol. The Internet gateway, after causing the eSIM to be provisioned, determines whether at least one criterion is met. The at least one criterion is for retaining or denying the ability of the device to authenticate with the base station. The Internet gateway, sends data, to a server, indicating that the at least one criterion is met.

Abstract: Various arrangements for managing network channels are presented. A backend system can receive data from one or more data sources. Based at least in part on the data received from the one or more data sources, a triggering event and a location related to the triggering event can be determined. Location data associated with the location related to the triggering event can be transmitted to a UAV and the UAV deployed. While the UAV is deployed at the location, the UAV can relay data between wireless devices, such as cellular phones, and a network access point, such as a cellular base station.

Abstract: Disclosed are devices, system, and method for mitigating wind damage to satellite antennas and for reducing the amount of ballast required to secure the satellite antennas. The device, system, and method include a mast on which an antenna may be affixed, a pivot gear capable of rotating between two or more positions, and a tension force or retention force on the pivot gear. A load force applied to the antenna creates a risk of damage proportional to the load force. The antenna system is capable of transitioning from a first orientation into a second orientation when the load force exceeds tension force or retention force, or the sum thereof, such that the antenna system experiences a reduced load force and therefore a reduced risk of damage. The device, system, and method also reduce the amount of ballast required to secure a non-penetrating antenna installation against tipping or sliding.

Abstract: Processes, systems, and devices create personalize content for users. A user device associated with a user account is authenticated to a system supporting content replacement. A replaceable segment is identified in the content, and replacement content is selected by comparing metadata associated with the user account to metadata associated with potential replacement content. The replaceable segment in the content is replaced with the selected replacement content to generate personalized content for the user account, and the personalized content including the selected replacement content is transmitted to the user device. The content may be received from a content delivery network and may include a cue that indicates content is replaceable. The user device may be authenticated in response to a request from the user device to join a virtual meeting. The user device may send the request to join the virtual meeting in response to a unique link.
