Abstract: A power cord handling device and a method to adjust a power cord extending from a device are provided. A frame assembly may include a base supporting a device receiving area to receive a device. A wheel assembly may be adapted to facilitate coiling of a power cord extending from the device when the device is disposed in the device receiving area. The wheel assembly may include a protrusion member. The protrusion member may include one or more slots. A controller may be configured to control a wheel assembly motor. Guide arms may be adapted to receive one or more second portions of the power cord extending from the device and to guide the power cord during a power cord handling operation. The controller may be configured to cause the wheel assembly to perform a power cord handling operation.

Abstract: An Interactive Media Event (IME) system includes a sync server, a first user device, and a second user device, each device is coupled to the server. The server executes computer instructions instantiating a content segment engine which outputs a Party matter to the second user device and instantiates an IME engine which receives, from the second user device, a later reaction to the Party matter. The IME engine synchronizes the later reaction with the Party matter. The Party matter may include a media event and a prior reaction to the media event received from the first user device. The media event includes a primary content segment and synchronization information associated therewith. The prior reaction and/or the later reaction may be synchronized to the primary content segment and/or to each other using the synchronization information. A reaction may include chat data captured during the Party.

Abstract: An antenna includes a folding mechanism for configuring the antenna into at least one of a first configuration and a second configuration. When in the first configuration, the antenna is configured for operational use. When in the second configuration, the antenna is configured for shipping in a package. A locking apparatus secures the antenna in either configuration. The folding mechanism and the locking mechanism configure the antenna into the first configuration. A method for preparing for shipment an antenna having a reflector with a width, a height, and depth, a backing structure coupled to the reflector, a first swivel plate, coupled to the backing structure, a feed arm bracket coupled to the first swivel plate, and a feed arm coupled to the feed arm bracket. The first swivel plate facilitates yaw rotations of the feed arm bracket, relative to the backing structure.

Abstract: A mobile device includes a processor and a memory. The memory stores instructions executable by the processor such that the processor is programmed to identify, based on user data a reference time. The processor is further programmed to send, via a human-machine interface included in the mobile device, a message to a user to input a user request to download a media content item prior to the reference time. The processor is further programmed to receive the user request to download the media content item and download the media content item from a media device.

Abstract: Various arrangements for performing dynamic content insertion are presented. Content items that have been output for presentation may be tracked across multiple television viewing sessions. One or more insertion rules may be evaluated that are mapped to a content item. The content item may be determined to have met an output rate threshold. An alternative piece of content may be selected for insertion based on the content item having met the output threshold rate. The television receiver may be triggered to substitute the alternative content item into a television channel stream to replace the content item.

Abstract: Novel techniques are described for location-tracked media delivery. For example, a particular consumer premises has multiple media consumption devices, each located in a different room of the premises. One or more media streams being consumed via one or more of the media consumption devices can be tracked. As one or more consumers move through the premises, their respective physical locations in the premises can also be tracked with respect to media consumption regions of the media consumption devices. By detecting movement of the consumers with respect to the consumed streams and the media consumption devices, embodiments can automatically provide various features. For example, streams can automatically be transferred or cloned among the media consumption devices, and/or streams and devices can be adapted automatically to facilitate some continued media consumption in some dead space regions.

Abstract: Examples of the present disclosure describe systems and methods for automated battery replacement. In example aspects, a notification is transmitted to a central hub from an IoT device, alerting the central hub of battery status information. Based on the battery status information, a robot may be deployed from the hub to replace the battery or batteries on the IoT device. The robot may be land-based, air-based, or sea-based, among other configurations and combinations. The robot may engage the IoT device by connecting an external power source, which triggers an authentication procedure to verify the authenticity of the IoT device and the robot. Upon successful authentication, the main battery compartment hatch may be opened. In some example aspects, the main battery compartment hatch is controlled using magnets (e.g. electromagnets). A successful authentication process may result in a change of magnetic force, which may cause the battery compartment hatch to open.

Abstract: A set top box is disclosed that delivers content from a television service provider to a user, the content being developed by a third party service provider. The set top box includes a receiver for onboarding an application to the set top box from a cloud store over a network. The application is onboarded to the cloud store from the third party service provider in response to the application being developed directly by the third party service provider using an interface provided by the television service provider in the cloud store. The set top box also includes an interface for transmitting a request from the user for content through the application to a television of the user over the network. Then, in response to receiving the request from the set top box, the receiver receives from the television service provider to the set top box content requested by the user.

Abstract: Introduced here are systems to manage and discover a processing offloader. A first multimedia device may identify a processing offloader in a networked environment. A first multimedia device may determine that a bandwidth of a second multimedia device in the networked environment falls below a threshold bandwidth, indicating that the second multimedia device may process instructions and render multimedia information with increased latency or delay. Based on this determination, the first multimedia device may forward instructions from the second multimedia device to the processing offloader for the processing offloader to process and render multimedia information on behalf of the second multimedia device based on the received instructions. The first multimedia device may forward rendered multimedia information from the processing offloader to the second multimedia device, and the second multimedia device may output the rendered multimedia information to an output device.

Abstract: A technique is described for generating a unified list (e.g., a list ribbon) of programs from a variety and disparate channels, the list for display on an over-the-top (OTT) client device. As an example, the unified list can be generated from OTT live channels and from over-the-air OTA and/or Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) live channels. Further, the unified list can include OTT recordings on the cloud and OTA/ATSC recordings on the local hard drive connected to an OTA local DVR. Thus, the OTT device Client obtains the list from the DVR backend, instead of going to the local OTA client box for the local recordings.

Abstract: Various arrangements for performing setup of a wireless network without pairing are provided. A request mapped to a first characteristic may be transmitted using a first wireless protocol. In response to the request mapped to the first characteristic, a listing of one or more wireless networks within range mapped to a second characteristic may be transmitted by a peripheral device. Using the first wireless communication protocol, a third characteristic mapped to the selected wireless network and the password may be transmitted to the peripheral device. A connection to the selected wireless network using the password and the second wireless communication protocol may then be performed by the peripheral device.

Abstract: Systems, devices and methods are described for facilitating gateway prioritization. A system includes a gateway, a first node, and a second node coupled by an internal link. The gateway instantiates an allocator which allocates a link characteristic of the internal link based on a first resource request by the first node and in view of a second resource request by the second node. The requests identify a link characteristic for the internal link. The allocator allocates the link characteristic between the first node and the second node based on a ranking of the first node and the second node. The first link characteristic may be an internal link bandwidth. An ISP server is coupled by an external link to the gateway. The external link includes an external link characteristic which the first resource request identifies and the allocator allocates in view thereof.

Abstract: Various arrangements for facilitating smart television content receivers are provided. A primary television receiver (PTR) having a first operating system may be configured to receive digital content from a remote content provider and distribute the content to one or more devices in response to a request for the content. A secondary television receiver (STR) configured to be in communication with a PTR and having a second operating system may be configured to receive the digital content from the PTR and provide the content to a display for presentation. The STR may include a first software stack including first processes and a first inter-process communication (IPC) mechanism, and a second software stack including second processes and a second IPC mechanism. The first processes may use the first IPC to communicate with the second processes. The second processes may use the second IPC to communicate with others of the second processes.

Abstract: Various techniques are described herein for autonomously registering and/or activating Internet-of-Things (IoT) devices, provisioning wireless network access of those devices, and connecting the IoT device to an NB-IoT network with agreed-to terms for network usage. In various embodiments, IoT devices may be configured to negotiate for NB-IoT network access by (i) sharing their data with the NB-IoT network provider, (ii) security storing and using cryptocurrency to obtain NB-IoT network access, and/or (iii) automatically providing the NB-IoT network provider with access to data from other associated IoT devices and/or with payment from a separate payment provider. Individual IoT devices may be preconfigured with negotiation terms for NB-IoT network access, pre-associated with other devices/users, and/or pre-loaded with cryptocurrency in a secure storage.

Abstract: A method includes generating a text file related to media content. The media content comprises a first segment and a second segment. A first portion of the text file includes a first time of the first segment and represents audio in the first segment or video in the first segment. A second portion of the text file includes a second time of the second segment and represents audio in the second segment or video in the second segment. A search query is received at a playback device, and the playback device plays the media content starting at the second time in response to the search query matching the second portion of the text file.

Abstract: Novel techniques are described for generation, distribution, and management of route connectivity optimization (RCO) mapping. For example, as mobile devices traverse travel routes serviced by one or more mobile networks, they can experience periods of different levels of connectivity with the mobile network(s). Embodiments can collect route segment connectivity data as experienced by consumer devices during traversal through mobile networks (e.g., indicating, for each route segment, which carriers are providing service to a mobile device, the level of service being provided, etc.). A RCO can be computed and stored for the set of route segments as a function of the route segment connectivity data. The RCO can be requested by consumers, and a corresponding link can be generated. Selecting the link can provide the consumers with remote access to the RCO, with which the consumers can generate connectivity-optimized route guidance maps.

Abstract: Devices, systems and processes for providing an adaptive audio environment are disclosed. For an embodiment, a system may include a wearable device and a hub. The hub may include an interface module configured to communicatively couple the wearable device and the hub and a processor, configured to execute non-transient computer executable instructions for a machine learning engine configured to apply a first machine learning process to at least one data packet received from the wearable device and output an action-reaction data set and for a sounds engine configured to apply a sound adapting process to the action-reaction data set and provide audio output data to the wearable device via the interface module.

Abstract: A system for locking a remote-control device blocks a remote-control device from sending signals related to user input until a code to unlock the remote-control device is received. The system for locking a remote-control device receives an indication that the remote-control device should be locked and locks the remote-control device. The system for locking a remote-control device receives user input and determines whether the user input included a predetermined code. Based on a determination that the user input included the predetermined code, the system for locking a remote-control device unlocks the remote-control device.

Abstract: Various arrangements are presented for using an estimated timing advance for user equipment communications. A location of an instance of user equipment may be determined. An estimated distance between the user equipment and a communication satellite may be determined using the determined location of the user equipment and an estimated satellite location. An estimated timing offset using the calculated estimated distance may be determined. An uplink data frame may be transmitted by the user equipment to the satellite such that a timing of transmission of the uplink data frame is based on the calculated estimated timing offset.
