Abstract: A facility for selectively suppressing notifications on a portable device is described. The facility accesses data characterizing the condition of the portable device. The facility infers from the accessed data that that the portable device is being carried by a person who is viewing content being played by a media player device. In response to this inference, the facility determines whether notifications should be suppressed on the portable device. If the facility determines that notifications should be suppressed on the portable device, it causes a wireless communication to be transmitted to the portable device instructing the portable device to suppress notifications.

Abstract: Various arrangements for performing dynamic volume control are provided. Audio characteristics of audio content being output to a user may be identified. Adjustments made to an audio volume setting by the user while the audio content is being output to the user can be monitored. A machine learning model can be trained based on the adjustments made to the audio volume setting by the user that are mapped with the audio characteristics of the audio content. After the machine learning model is trained, the audio volume setting can be adjusted based at least in part on the trained machine learning model analyzing audio content.

Abstract: Described herein are method, systems, and media for recommending channels to a new user in a streaming service. In an embodiment, an exemplary method includes identifying, from a plurality of existing users of the streaming service, one or more existing users that each are similar to a new user of the streaming service based on their respective profiles; identifying one or more channels recommended to each of the one or more identified existing users; and displaying, on a streaming device of the new user, at least one channel of combined channels of the one or more channels recommended to each of the one or more identified existing users.

Abstract: Improved technical functionality is provided to dynamically select and seamlessly play advertisements immediately before playing of a recorded program upon selection of the recorded program for playing, or upon other detected events and conditions associated with the set-top-box (STB) or user. In some embodiments, this is performed by using metadata which may be delivered to and stored on a digital video recorder (DVR) prior to recording the program, providing a technical solution to enable opportunities for additional advertisement impressions. Playing of the advertisement may also or instead occur upon the recorded program finishing playing. Thus, the technical solution provides the additional opportunity for the content creator and/or the satellite television or cable service provider to sell advertising spots in addition to those already sold for breaks within the recorded program.

Abstract: System, methods, and machine-readable media to facilitate adaptive content composite interaction with respect to digitally distributed content are disclosed. Discovery may be performed, and events specified for digital distribution may be detected. A particular endpoint identifier mapped to media devices may be detected. Events may be determined as a function of access specifications. Content objects corresponding to the events may be received from a remote system via a network. Content composites corresponding to mapping specifications may be created for each content object with selecting and configuring an adaptable content object with the content object to form a content composite to facilitate presentation of the content composite.

Abstract: A content page management system is described herein. The system may identify a set of content presentation devices connected to a selected network. The system may receive an indication of content pages associated with the selected network that each include at least one instance of content, wherein a subset of content pages are live content pages. The system may receive input indicating that at least one content page is to be changed and may determine whether the content page is a live content page. In response to a determination that the content page is a live content page, the system may identify a subset of the set of content presentation devices that are currently accessing the at least one content page and cause the subset of content presentation devices to change their display of the content based on the identified changes. The system may update a data representation of the at least one content page based on the received input.

Abstract: Described herein are methods, systems, and media for filtering content items in a streaming service. In an embodiment, an exemplary method include classifying a user of a streaming service into one of a plurality of groups based on watch behavior of the user in a first past period, each of the plurality of groups being associated with a tag; and recommending channels to the user based on watch behavior of the user in a second past period, each of the plurality of channels being associated with a tag. The method further includes removing one or more channels from the recommended channels, each removed channel being associated with a tag contrary to the tag associated with the group that the user has been classified into; and displaying one or more content items from each of remaining channels on a streaming device of the user. The disclosure also discloses embodiments of flagging channels that conflict with user classifications.

Abstract: Systems, devices, and processes receive first metadata descriptive of media programs watched by viewers and second metadata descriptive of the viewers, and can provide the first metadata about the media programs and the second metadata about the viewers to train an artificial intelligence (AI) model on the viewers and the media programs. A viewer device playing a media program may detect a recommendation trigger during a first playback of the media program. The AI model may be applied to third metadata related to the viewer and fourth metadata related to the media program during the first playback to generate a viewing recommendation for the viewer in response to the recommendation trigger. The viewing recommendation can be presented to the viewer during the first playback of the media program on the viewer device.

Abstract: Various embodiments of apparatuses, systems (e.g., a gateway device) and/or methods are described for correcting failover or latency issues of a network connection. In this disclosure, a gateway device determines whether a first connection between the gateway device and a first wide area network has a network outage. Network latency is determined for the first connection between the gateway device and the first wide area network, and such network latency is compared with a predefined threshold. In response to the network latency being above the predefined threshold or in response to determining that there is the network outage, a second wide area network is used via a computing device to create a second connection between the end devices and the second wide area network, and data is sent between the end devices using the second connection.

Abstract: Systems, media devices, machine-readable media, and methods facilitate endpoint media device controls. Data streams may be processed as each is received by devices of a local network. The data streams may facilitate presentation of audio, video, and/or textual content with an endpoint media device. For each data stream, a security protocol may be detected that applies to the data stream based on of the source, the endpoint media device, an identification of a user, and/or a time corresponding to when the data stream is being received. It may be determined, during streaming of the data stream, whether the data stream includes a particular composite specified by the security protocol. When it is determined that the data stream includes the particular composite, security operations may be performed in accordance with the security protocol.

In an embodiment, a method of classifying subscribers based on their geospatial activity includes creating an augmented graph for each subscriber of a plurality of subscribers of the wireless network based on their respective geospatial activity; and extracting, using a first machine learning model, a plurality of features from the respective augmented graph of each subscriber of the plurality of subscribers. The method further includes creating an embedding for the respective plurality of features of each subscriber of the plurality of subscribers; and classifying, using a second machine learning model, the plurality of subscribers into a plurality of groups of subscribers based on the respective embedding of each subscriber of the plurality of subscribers.

Abstract: Systems, devices, and processes can generate flags and recaps for content. An example process includes retrieving program data related to a selected program in response to a request for a summary of the program. The program data can be analyzed using an artificial intelligence (AI) model to generate flags for scenes of interest in the selected program. The selected program is played back with the flags overlayed on a timeline of the selected program during playback of the content. The flags identify the scenes of interest as containing content relevant to later content. The scenes of interest identified by the flags can be aggregated to automatically generate a recap of the content relevant to the later content. The recap is presented to a viewer in response to the viewer initiating playback of the later content.

Abstract: A method for optimizing satellite signal performance in a satellite transmission system. The method includes: obtaining signal data from at least some of the plurality of customer receivers, measuring the signal data from each of the signal beams that were obtained; analyzing metadata from the components of the satellite transmission system, signal source front end controls, and spectral sampling; identifying signal degradation at the satellite spacecraft in the space segment from the signal data of actual spot beam coverage using the measured signal data and the analyzed metadata; and predicting remediation actions to correct the signal degradation at the satellite spacecraft in the space segment.

The alert message includes a first alert condition and a second alert condition. The first alert condition and the second alert condition are identified in the alert message, and an alert notice is generated, based on the identified alert conditions, and transmitted to a user device coupled to the content distributor system. The first alert condition specifies an alert type. The second alert condition specifies a time period. The alert message may include a third alert condition specifying an action for a user of the user device to take or refrain from taking during the time period and the alert notice may identify the action. The alert message may include a target condition and the alert notice identifies actions to be performed.

Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to methods and systems generating a multiple user profile. The profile system can create a multiple user profile based on metadata associate with two or more user profiles. The multiple user profile can include media content for the users to consume together based on shared attributes between the individual profiles of the users. The profile system can determine profiles that have similar attributes and send a recommendation for the users to join a group profile.

Abstract: A content selector switch selects, based on a received request for content from a particular remote control device, a multicast network on which to provide the requested particular content. Each multicast network channel of the plurality of multicast network channels is mapped to a respective video channel and each remote control device in the facility (e.g., hotel) is mapped to a respective video channel that the TV controlled by the remote control device stays tuned to. The content selector switch performs the selection by identifying which remote control device in the facility sent the request and selecting the multicast network channel that is mapped to the RF video channel the identified remote control device is mapped to. The content selector switch then provides the specific content on the selected multicast network channel to a multicast-to-channel output device that provides the content on the RF video channel for the TV tuned to that RF video channel to display.

Abstract: Devices, systems, and methods for messaging a user of a multi-unit property are provided. An example method includes identifying a current location of a user located within a multi-unit property, identifying a user characteristic of the user, determining a point of interest (POI) for the user, based on the identified user characteristic and the current location of the user, identifying at least one first display device in proximity to the user, determining a first privacy level of the first display device, generating at least one first message related to the determined POI, and the at least one first message has a first message sensitivity level corresponding to the first privacy level. The method further includes transmitting the at least one first message to the first display device and causing the first display device to display the first message for the user to view.
