Patent number: 8459460Abstract: The present invention provides a box package having a clamshell with a panel assembly, and a method of manufacturing and using a box package. The clamshell includes a first part and a second part adapted to form a cavity. The first and second parts are movable relative to one another about an operating hinge between an open position and a closed position. A panel assembly covers at least a portion of each of the first and second parts. The clamshell may include more than one manufacturing hinge, and at least one of the manufacturing hinges may divide the first and second parts. The panel assembly may define an access window and at least a portion of the first part may open and close through the access window.Type: GrantFiled: June 6, 2012Date of Patent: June 11, 2013Assignee: Display Pack, Inc.Inventors: Victor D. Publication number: 20130105343Abstract: A wiper package assembly for use in packaging a pre-curved wiper blade. The wiper package assembly generally includes a package and a pair of end caps fittable onto the wiper blade and into the package. The package and end caps may be configured to cooperatively hold the pre-curved wiper blade in an at least partially straightened condition. The end caps may be configured to engage the wiper blade without altering the shape of the wiper blade tip, thereby reducing the risk of the wiper tip becoming deformed during by the package. In one embodiment, the end caps are ambidextrous in the sense that identical end caps can be used on opposite ends of the wiper blade. The end cap may include two support slots configured to correspond with the shape of the opposite ends of an asymmetrical wiper blade.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 15, 2012Publication date: May 2, 2013Applicant: DISPLAY PACK, INC.Inventors: David H. Bult, George E. Raimer, Matthew D. Hansen

Publication number: 20130062342Abstract: A reclosable package for packaging an article is provided with a plastic door component and a separate tray that cooperate to form an article containing cavity. The tray may be manufactured from a paper pulp material, such as molded pulp. The door component and tray may be installed between a pair of panels. The door component may include a door portion and a flange portion joined along a hinge. The flange portion may be sandwiched between the panels to hold the door component in place. The door portion may be movable about the hinge to allow the package to be opened and closed. The door portion may interface with the door panel in a way that resists movement of the door portion between the open position and the closed position. The door portion may include snap elements configured to have an interference fit with the door panel.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 9, 2011Publication date: March 14, 2013Applicant: DISPLAY PACK, INC.Inventors: Victor D. Patent number: 8381908Abstract: A composite package having a folded paperboard card and two plastic components shaped to interfit with one another when the package is closed. The plastic components define a space for containing one or more articles. The folded paperboard card may be a dual-panel card with two panels joined to one another along a fold line or other hinge. Each paperboard panel may define an opening to seat a plastic component. The paperboard is configured to bring the two plastic components into registration when the panels are folded together along the hinge. The plastic components may be configured to releasably interlock when the package is closed. One of the two plastic components may include a shoulder that is configured to be snap-fitted or otherwise frictionally into the other plastic component. The opening may include a seat shaped to closely receive and provide a stop for the shoulder.Type: GrantFiled: September 9, 2011Date of Patent: February 26, 2013Assignee: Display Pack, Inc.Inventors: Victor D. Hansen, George E. Raimer, Michael J. Cramblet, Kristie L. Vos

Publication number: 20120292322Abstract: A tamper-evident tab construction for a thermoformed package. In one embodiment, the package includes top and bottom parts with overlapping tabs. The top and bottom parts may include locking tabs that interlock with one another and provide a structure for holding the package while it is being opened. The top part may also include a pull tab located proximate the locking tabs. The pull tab is configured to provide a structure for pulling the top part away from the bottom part to open the package. The pull tab may be joined to the top part by a small land of material that is configured to deform when the package is opened. As a result, the pull tab may remain at an angle after opening to provide a visual indication that the package may have been opened or tampered with.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 10, 2012Publication date: November 22, 2012Applicant: DISPLAY PACK, INC.Inventors: Marc R. Publication number: 20120005994Abstract: A thermoformed clamshell package with a pair of closing flanges and a double-sided adhesive for joining the closing flanges to seal the package. The package includes a carrier flange that carries the double-sided adhesive prior to sealing and a sealing flange that is brought into contact with the double-sided adhesive to seal the package. The package may include a frangible portion in the flange region for gaining access to the contents of the package after it has been sealed without breaking the adhesive seal created by the double-sided adhesive. The carrier flange may include a channel for seating the double-sided adhesive and for denesting adjacent packages when nested together for shipping and/or storage. The package may include one or more display strips disposed in the flange region. The present invention also provides a method for packaging articles in a package with a tamper-evident seal, and a method for manufacturing a package with a tamper-evident seal.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 9, 2010Publication date: January 12, 2012Applicant: DISPLAY PACK, INC.Inventors: Martin O.
