Abstract: A device for dosing rinse conditioner to a drum of a washing machine comprises three chambers connected in series to an interior of a drum of a washing machine. The first chamber receives the composition prior to a start of the wash cycle and includes an outlet through which the composition is transferred to a holding chamber under centrifugal forces generated during a first spin cycle. During a second spin cycle the treatment composition is similarly transferred from the holding chamber to a dispensing chamber from which the composition is delivered onto the fabrics upon completion of the second spin cycle. A washing process employing the device of the invention is also disclosed.

Abstract: The invention comprises a retarder system for use with road vehicles. The retarder system can combine an electromagnetic retarder with up to four functions: 1) a brushless DC alternator; 2) a brushless DC starter; 3) an active damper that replaces the vehicle's flywheel and smooths out residual torque pulsations; and, 4) a transmission-synchronizing inertia brake; and, 5) a transient engine booster to offset the lag associated with turbo-charged engines. The device may be integrated within the engine or within the transmission, preferably using the vehicle heat exchanger for its cooling system.
Abstract: A process for manufacturing a fast infusing black leaf tea. The process involves (a) withering tea leaves to a moisture content between 64 and 70%, (b) macerating the withered leaves tea leaves by the controlled application of both shear and compression forces sufficient to disrupt the majority of cells within the tea leaf, to introduce morphological changes in the tissue and to redistribute the cell contents, (c) fermentating the resulting dhool, (d) firing the leaves to arrest the fermentation and (e) drying and sorting the fired leaves to give black leaf tea. The black leaf tea shows a rate and degree of infusion typical of CTC teas, while maintaining the appearance of orthodox tea.

Abstract: An article for cleansing body surfaces is provided which includes an effervescent cleansing composition capable of generating a foam upon contact with water and a pouch for housing the composition. The pouch features first and second substrates, the latter constructed of a non-woven sheet selected from meltblown, spunbond and sheet combinations thereof. Advantageously, a high loft sheet may be bonded to the non-woven sheet. Escape of effervescent gas is controlled by the second substrate thereby maintaining a billowed pouch profile.

Abstract: Hair styling compositions comprise from 0 to 35% by weight of an aerosol propellant and from 0.01% to 30% by weight wax particles in aqueous dispersion. The wax particles have an average particle size in the range of from 1 &mgr;m to 500 &mgr;m and a melting point in the range of from 30° C. to 150° C. The compositions, which may be in the form of a foaming aerosol hair mousse, have good styling, softness and/or conditioning properties, whilst reducing the feeling of stickiness on the hands or the hair which is associated with corresponding compositions without the wax particles.
