Abstract: A process for the production of detergent particles comprises feeding an acid precursor of an anionic surfactant, a neutralizing agent and aluminosilicate detergency builder into a horizontal thin-film evaporator/drier. The evaporator/drier comprises a mixing region, a drying region and a cooling region. Neutralization of the acid precursor is effected, together with granulation, drying and cooling, to form the detergent particles. At least some of the aluminosilicate builder is fed into the thin-film evaporator/drier between the drying region and the cooling region and/or into the cooling region. When all of he aluminosilicate builder is fed into the cooling region, the aluminosilicate is in an amount of more than 20% by weight of the particles exiting the cooling region.

Abstract: A disposable substantially dry cleansing article is disclosed having a lathering surfactant and a C5-C12 alkyl diol impregnated into a flexible substrate such as a non-woven cloth. The alkyl diol primarily is a process aid which may concurrently improve aesthetics and increase latherability. Hexylene glycol is the preferred diol. Best performance is achieved with an alkyl diol to total lathering surfactant weight ratio from about 1:1 to about 1:8.

Abstract: A system and a method are described for cooling a mold, particularly for expanded polystyrene, by means of jets of water in a depressurized environment. Pumps are used to depressurize the environment and to remove therefrom the steam generated by the jets of water. The pumps are arranged to perform the depressurization by suction directly from a steam-condenser connected to the environment of the mold and having means for cyclically discharging the water condensed in the condensation device.

Abstract: A fluid flow control valve comprises a housing defining a fluid flow passage extending longitudinally therethrough, the housing having opposite ends each defining an opening for flow into and out of the fluid flow passage, and an orifice and diaphragm disposed in the housing. The orifice has a seat at one end thereof facing the diaphragm. The diaphragm has one end face that opposes the seat of the orifice, the seat being configured such that one or more flow control passages are defined between the seat and the one end face of the diaphragm through which the fluid flows. The seat is contoured to include at least two different shapes of channels each promoting localized bending of the diaphragm at a different pressure differential, thereby permitting an expansion of the working pressure range to very low pressure differentials.
