Abstract: A composition and method for inhibiting lead corrosion of fine tableware washed in automatic dishwashers is disclosed. The composition comprises an aluminum salt which dissolves at a rate to deliver less than 0.56 mM aluminum(III) per minute at 42.degree. C. to a wash liquor, a bleaching agent, a builder and optionally a surfactant. The composition has a pH of less than about 10 and is substantially free of silicates.

Abstract: In the horizontal parts of deviated wells arranged within a producing formation, good communication between the formation and the wellbore liner is required, and this may be achieved by using a slotted or perforated liner in the horizontal section without any cementing to bond the liner to the wellbore. However, problems can arise if it is desired to work selectively in a zone in the horizontal section, since with a perforate liner there is no way of isolating the zone from the remainder of the well by using internal packers. This problem can be overcome by providing packers around the outside of the liner, this then allows packers inside the liner to be used to isolate a portion of the well. However, these external casing packers must be sealed against the wellbore, they must be positioned in advance, and they substantially increase the cost of the completion.

Abstract: A pourable, homogenous, abrasive aqueous detergent composition, suitable for cleaning hard surfaces contains detergent active compound which is preferably a mixture of anionic and nonionic detergent active compounds, and a water-soluble salt in an amount sufficient to provide undissolved particles which act as an abrasive. The composition has an apparent viscosity which is sufficient to maintain the particles of salt in suspension during storage while ensuring that the composition remains pourable.

Abstract: A scanning apparatus providing separate fixed object focal planes for transmissive and reflective original documents to be scanned, wherein a scan carriage containing illumination, sensor, and optical elements is moved together to scan an original document and to obtain a digitized representation thereof. The movable scan carriage has an illumination source disposed between the reflective and transmissive object focal planes, with the object focal plane to be used selected by changing the position of one or more optical elements within the scan carriage. The illumination source comprises a removable lamp cartridge with one or more lamps disposed for correct illumination of the selected object focal plane.

Abstract: A fuel management system for a gaseous fuel internal combustion engine is disclosed in which a mass air flow sensor as well as a mass gas flow sensor provide input signals to an electronic control unit (ECU) which then determines the air/fuel ratio. The ECU in turn generates output signals to a fuel valve to control the mass of fuel flow to the engine and thus the air/fuel ratio. A turbocharger bypass valve, a precooler for the gaseous fuel supply, a pressure accumulator upstream from the fuel valve, as well as a system to calibrate the engine to the specific gaseous fuel is described to enhance the accuracy of the fuel management system. An improved pressure balanced valve for controlling the fuel flow to the engine is also provided as well as a cylinder pressure transducer to optionally provide an output signal to the ECU to determine the air/fuel ratio.

Abstract: A device for positioning a probe, such as a temperature sensor, in a flask for freeze drying. The device includes a stopper adapted to be secured to an open end of the flask. The stopper has a center opening and at least one radial opening spaced from the center opening. The radial opening allows for fluid communication between inside and outside of the flask when the stopper is secured to the open end of the flask. The center opening receives a guide tube which extends into the flask and is sized to receive the probe such that substantially no fluid communication between the inside of the flask and the outside of the flask occurs through the guide tube or center opening. A channel formed in an upper surface of the stopper and an O-ring positioned about an outer diameter of a neck of the flask secure the probe in position relative to the guide tube. The multiple radial openings define an annular passageway which mimics fluid communication through a standard slit-type stopper employed in freeze drying.
