  • Patent number: 5190265
Abstract: A service tool is provided for removal and replacement of vehicle parts. The service tool comprises a base, a lift arm mechanism including a base end in a distal end, the base end being pivotally mounted to the base. A jack is mounted to the base and the lift arm mechanism for pivotally moving the lift arm mechanism to adjust height of the distal end. A vehicle part adaptor is included for receiving a vehicle part to be removed or replaced. A ball and socket joint mounts the vehicle part adaptor to the lift arm mechanism distal end for allowing rotary motion of the vehicle part adaptor relative to the distal end in every direction and adjustable screws adjustably limit movement of the vehicle part adaptor to control attitude of the same.

  • Patent number: 5189863
Abstract: A video imaging technique used in a bagging assembly for magazines, books or the like. The bagging assembly selectively adds onserts and tip-ons to the magazines prior to being bagged in a polybag. The invention includes a method of selectively adding onserts which are contained in a plurality of storage bins by implementing a vision system using a video camera. The vision system defines a plurality of video windows which are used for identifying a dot code pattern which is printed on a mailing label by an ink-jet printer. The dot code pattern identifies which ones of a plurality of storage bins are to be actuated to subsequently dispense an onsert onto the magazine as it passes thereunder. By using a vision system, the dot code pattern can be offset vertically or horizontally, or skewed up to 15 degrees. The vision system creates a pair of video windows used for first sensing reference marks, and three windows for subsequently sensing characters positioned therebetween.

  • Patent number: 5189514
Abstract: An optical edge guidance system for automatic riveters. The guidance system utilizes a light source which directs light toward the material to be drilled/riveted, a video camera is also directed toward the portion of an object to be drilled/riveted and detects reflected source light from the material. The light from the source directed toward the material is angled about 10 to 15 degrees from the vertical. The material either is marked with a dark stripe or, for example, when the material cross-section is in the shape of a hat section, i.e. an aircraft longeron, a shadow is cast by the light striking the edge of the material and forms a dark area along the longitudinal centerline thereof. The edge of the dark stripe or shadow is detected by the video camera. The video signal from the camera is processed into a voltage equivalent of the video signal. A known reference voltage signal is established when the material positioned properly for drilling/riveting.

  • Patent number: 5188842
Abstract: An edible plastic composition contains at least 5 wt. % of heat-denatured protein, the heat-denatured protein mainly being a dispersion in the form of non-aggregated protein-based macrocolloidal particles having a size in the range of from 0.1 to 10 microns. It is suitable as a low calorie fat replacer in food products and for topical applications and is prepared by successive heating and concentrating steps in which an aqueous composition comprising less than 15% by weight of the water, of heat-denaturable protein is at least partly denatured and the protein concentration of the aqueous composition is at least doubled and at least part of any soluble protein is removed. The present process for instance offers the advantage of not requiring complicated apparatus, and moreover is easy to control.

  • Patent number: 5188822
Abstract: Oral composition containing an oil-in-water emulsion, wherein the oil phase of the emulsion includes an aminoalkyl silicone and a lipophilic compound and the aqueous phase includes an emulsifier. The lipophilic compound is soluble in the aminoalkyl silicone. Preferably, a lipophilic antimicrobial agent or a lipophilic flavorant is employed. The aminoalkyl silicone forms a substantive film on the teeth surface and the lipophilic compound is deposited, along with the aminoalkyl silicone, on the teeth surface. Thus, the enhanced deposition of the lipophilic compound is attained. The pH of the compositions is preferably at least 7.0. The compositions are preferably applied by brushing.

  • Patent number: 5189295
Abstract: An earth sensor primarily for use at geosynchronous altitude measures Pitch, Roll, as well as Yaw. Pitch and Roll are obtained from the sun illuminated earth crescent viewed through a pinhole by a CID video camera. A circular mask positioned in front of the pinhole blacks out the center 10 degrees of the earth. A beam splitter receives visible radiation from the earth crescent through the pinhole and combines it with energy from a lens system aimed at Polaris and beta Ursa Minor and/or gamma Cepheus and projects radiation from such polar stars onto the CID detector. Yaw is obtained by sensing the position of the pole star Polaris.

  • Patent number: 5184852
Abstract: A rod casing for activating vertically arranged latch bolts, the casing and latch bolts arranged in an active stile of a door and engageable to a door frame. The rod casing provides a vertically slidable actuator cam engageable by both a lock/unlock actuator and a delatch or dogging actuator. The lock/unlock actuator and the delatch actuator are rotatably mounted upon a spindle piece which itself is rotatable by a user such as by a key-activated lock cylinder. The lock/unlock actuator when rotated slidingly abuts the actuator cam and drives the actuator cam vertically upward to cause unlatching of the latch bolts. The delatch actuator, upon rotation of the spindle piece in an opposite direction underlies the actuator cam and dogs the actuator cam in its vertically risen position. To deactivate the delatch actuator, the lock/unlock actuator can be rotated to interfere and displace the delatch actuator to release the actuator cam from the dogging position.

  • Patent number: 5185173
Abstract: The invention is concerned with pumpable bread improver compositions comprising a liquid glyceride oil, in which solid fat particles are dispersed together with bread improver ingredients. The content of total solid particles of these compositions is at least 18 wt. %. The dispersed solid fat has a particle size of 0.01-0.05 mm and preferably has a melting point of at least 40.degree. C. Processes for the preparation of these compositions are also described. In one process, all ingredients are mixed and milled together at a specific temperature so that the particle size of the solid components will be less than 0.05 mm. In another process, the small fat particles are made separately by spray-crystallisation and are mixed with the rest of the milled bread improver composition, optionally in the form of a dispersion in a liquid oil.
