Abstract: A single latch assembly integrally with the front walls of the tray and cover of a clamshell carton and positioned solely to one side of the transverse center line of the front walls in the area of maximum strength of each front wall. The latch assembly component on the tray includes an inwardly directed elongate flange and an outwardly directed tongue at the top edge of the tray front wall positioned solely between the central area of the top edge and one end thereof. The latch assembly component on the cover includes an elongate aperture defined through the cover front wall immediately adjacent the top panel of the cover.

Abstract: A prize concealing member integrally formed by partially severing and folding a tab-forming section of a carton wall to overly and conceal a prize coupon also defined from the wall with both the tab and coupon being selectively severable from the wall.

Abstract: A fast food carton including a tray with peripheral walls integral with a bottom panel and individually foldable relative thereto between a first position substantial coplanar therewith and a second folded position forming a peripheral wall thereabout, and a lid integral with one of the tray walls and selectively foldable to cover the tray with the tray walls retained in the folded position within the lid. The carton further includes a lock assembly having a tongue integral with the tray front wall and outward projectable through a slot formed in the lid, the lid having openings defined therein for facilitating manual manipulation of the lock assembly for release.

Abstract: A partitioned meal tray or container for holding food products is formed from a blank, and comprises a planar base and a plurality of sidewalls, the tray or container further comprising a plurality of internal partitions running parallel to the planar base. Each of the internal partitions has its first end joined either to a respective corner of the tray or to a respective sidewall of the tray, second ends of the internal partitions being joined together. Two embodiments of the tray are hexagonal in shape, while a third embodiment of the tray is pentagonal in shape. Further embodiments of the tray are formed by provision of an additional tray which is insertable into an upper portion of the main tray, the additional tray being supported from below by internal partitions in the main tray. Ends of the internal partitions, adjacent to the corners or walls to which they are connected, comprise a pair of flared tabs which are connected to the corner or wall by glue, adhesive or other means.

Abstract: A carton including a tray having two compartments therein divided by a transverse divider wall with the bottom panel of one compartment integral with the lower edge of the divider wall and the bottom panel of the second compartment integral with the upper edge of the divider wall and sloping outwardly and downwardly therefrom to substantially a common plane with the first compartment bottom panel. The tray is surrounded by confining walls, and the carton may include a cover separately formed or integral with the tray.

Abstract: A convertible food container including two outwardly opening shells having inner walls interconnected along a common upper edge thereof for hinged movement of the shells between an open tray-forming position and a closed carton-forming position. The inner walls include integral tongue and recess lock components which are manually engageable to prevent movement of the inner walls, and hence the shells, relative to each other. A separate retainer enables a locking together of two overlying and facing containers in the open positions thereof.

Abstract: A blank and carton formed therefrom including a pentagon-shaped bottom panel, first, second and third side wall panels integral with three edges of the bottom panel with fold lines defined therealong, fourth and fifth side wall panels integral with opposed edges of the third side wall panel, a top panel integral with the outer edge of the third side wall panel opposed from the bottom panel along a defined fold line, and glue flaps on selected edges of the panels whereby upon a folding of the panels an erected receptacle with folding lid is formed.

Abstract: A folded paperboard carton including first and second longitudinally aligned compartments with a common base panel, the first compartment including a cover integral therewith and foldable to overlie the first compartment, the second compartment extends above and opens upwardly relative to the closed first compartment with the inner wall of the cover dividing the two compartments.

Abstract: A carton structure with opposed side walls and opposed end walls interconnected by fold lines. Foldable closure panels are integrally joined to the upper edges of the side walls, and in turn have foldable handle panels integral with the outer edges thereof. A reinforcement panel is integral with one end of each handle panel and folds thereover to lie between the handle panels. End panels extend from the upper edges of the end walls with the reinforcement panels being positioned immediately outward of the end panels. The end panels fold to interlock with the folded handle and reinforcement panels.

Abstract: A carton support formed from a folded unitary blank of paperboard and including a central member with a pair of separate side members mounted to the same end of said central member and outwardly pivoted to generally overlie the opposite sides of the central member and extend at acute angles to the respective sides thereof. A pair of lugs, one on each side member, snap-lock into position to retain the side members in their erected positions at acute angles to the central member.

Abstract: A container formed of foldable sheet material including a body of a slightly tapered inverted conical configuration having opposed pairs of closure flaps integrally hinged to the upper rim of the body and foldable to overlie the upwardly directed open mouth of the container. The inward folding of the flaps inwardly flex corresponding portions of the body wall to a generally rectangular configuration adjacent and downward from the rim. The outer flaps interlock by a cooperating tongue and slot. In variations, integral or bonded handles are provided to overlie the closed container. Additional sealing at the defined corners between adjacent flaps is achieved by integrally formed folding gussets.

Abstract: A clam shell carton having a hexagonal tray with a similarly configured hexagonal cover integrally hinged thereto. The tray and cover, outward of hinge joined inner walls thereof, include alternating high and low peripheral walls with projecting locking lugs on selected ends of the high walls. The high and low walls on the cover respectively overlap the low and high walls on the tray with the locking lugs on the cover releasably interlocking with the locking lugs on the tray.

Abstract: A cup blank including opposed arced longitudinal outer and inner edges formed on common radii. The outer edge, at opposed ends thereof, includes linear extents. Linear extents may also be provided at the opposed end portions of the inner longitudinal edge. The common radii and linear edge extents enable a cut line layout of multiple blanks wherein transversely adjacent rows of blanks are defined by a common longitudinal cut line therebetween.

Abstract: A carton including a hexagonal tray with a complementary hexagonal cover integrally hinged thereto for closing thereover. A dual locking system between the tray and cover includes projecting locking lugs coplanar with the front wall of the tray and extending beyond adjoining tray side walls for interlocking engagement with corresponding lugs on side walls of the cover which extend beyond the cover front wall. The locking assembly also includes headed upwardly extending tabs on selected tray side walls which engage through corresponding slots in the cover top panel to lock the top panel downwardly against the upper edges of the side walls from which the tabs project.
