Abstract: The invention relates to a container, in particular as a work room, with variable volume, having a basic container with a bottom wall and a roof wall, at least one expansion element, which can be moved out of the basic container and which exhibits a bottom wall, a side that is open in the direction of the basic container, as well as a front wall opposite the open side, and a device, with which the expansion element can be lowered and lifted. The basic container exhibits at least one hinged side wall and the expansion element is open at the top. In the moved-out state a roof wall of the expansion element is formed by the side wall that is opened up on hinges and belongs to the basic container.
Abstract: A method for simulating echo signals for Doppler radar systems having a radar signal transmitted by a first Doppler radar system and received by a second Doppler radar system wherein the signal is subjected to the action of a Doppler frequency shift based upon switching of either an antennae changeover switch or a transmitting and receiving changeover switch at a frequency equivalent to the Doppler frequency shift to be generated and sent back as a simulated echo signal.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a wing tip extension (7) for a wing, having an upper and a lower surface (10 and 11) and a leading edge and a trailing edge (12 and 13), the geometries of which are such that between a connection region (8), for connection with a wing, and the tip (9) of the wing tip extension (7) there is provided a continuous increase of the local dihedral, a continuous increase both of the sweepback angle of the leading edge (12) and also of the trailing edge (13), and a continuous decrease of the chord of the wing tip extension (7), and in that the wing tip extension (7) in the connection region (8) carries on from the wing in substance continuously. The wing tip extension (7) in accordance with the invention thereby ensures a significant reduction of the overall drag.

Abstract: A device is provided for the accurate positioning of an antenna of a satellite in space, in which the antenna is fastened to a plate mounted on gimbals, with the plate capable of being swiveled around two axles supported in bearings and extending vertically to one another. A rotary drive is provided for each axle, said rotary drive consisting of an arm of a lever, said arm being connected to the axle, and a linear drive that freely affects the arm.
Abstract: A gas sensor, comprises a substrate, a sensor unit including a functional layer and an electrode structure, and an electric heating and/or temperature measuring arrangement. An electrically conductive shielding structure is provided between the sensor unit and the electric heating arrangement in order to shield the measurement process at the sensor unit from interferences owing to the heating process, thereby reducing or preventing the effects of electrical fields caused by voltages applied to the heating arrangement from altering or disrupting the measurement process.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for simulating the danger posed by mines or hand grenades to one or several participants in a military exercise. At least one weaponry simulator simulating a mine or a hand grenade and the sensor devices allocated to the individual participants are used and the effect of mines or hand grenades is simulated by transmitting data between the weaponry simulator and the sensor devices of the participants. According to the invention, data is transmitted through two-way radio communication between the weaponry simulator and the sensor devices of the individual participants. Radio transmission from the individual sensor devices of the participants to the weaponry simulator is carried out in the near field zone of the transmitting and receiving antennae involved.
Abstract: A lightweight mobile bridge has upper belts and/or lower belts made of composite fiber materials. The belts provide for longitudinal tensile support for vertically extending side walls formed with shear ribs made of metal.
Abstract: In a towed body with infrared flares located at its rear, the flares are in an ejection unit and are pulled out of the towed body via a tow cable as they ignite, preventing the towed body from being destroyed by missiles when it is used during target simulation.
Abstract: Tension rod for use as a chord for bridges, having a middle part consisting of fiber composite material and having ends consisting of metallic material. The middle and end parts are connected by a glued tapered overlap.
Abstract: In a method for detecting oxygen concentration in a gas, a functional material in the form of a layer or film made of a semiconducting metal oxide, whose thermoelectric power can be represented as a function of partial oxygen pressure, is subjected to the gas to be analyzed. A temperature difference is created between two points on the functional material, and the voltage difference between the two points of the functional material that are at different temperatures is determined as a measure of oxygen concentration.
Abstract: A thermal insulation structure for satellites comprises a layer of an open-pore polyimide foam applied to the surface of the bearing structure of the satellite.
Abstract: A method and a device is provided for NO reduction in moor vehicle exhaust by reduction on a catalyst. The hydrogen required for the NO reduction is produced directly on-board the motor vehicle by water vapor reformation and/or by partial oxidation of hydrocarbons, for example, methanol, diesel fuel, or gasoline on a catalyst. The device includes an adjustable heater for the catalyst for water vapor reformation or for partial oxidation.
Abstract: An Ag-containing solid, such as Ag2O, Ag2CO3, and AgOH, is used for storing/releasing nitrogen oxides in an exhaust gas from an engine during controlled cycling of the &lgr;-value of the exhaust gas. The nitrogen oxides are stored at &lgr;-values of the gas greater than 1 in the Ag-containing solid and the nitrogen oxides are released at &lgr;-values of the gas less than or equal to 1 from the Ag-containing solid. The Ag-containing solid may include a precious metal or a microporous carrier, for example, ZrO2, SiO2, TiO2, Si—Al mixed oxide, and zeolites.
