    Abstract: An arrangement for supplying cooling air to a brake disk of a front wheel brake comprises an air guiding duct that is developed to be partially flexible and, on the inlet side, has an air opening in the front end of a motor vehicle and, on the outlet side, has another air opening that is directed at the brake disk. Two air inlet openings in a brake disk guard plate are opposite said air opening and form a separate transversely directed air guiding system to the brake disk. The air guiding duct is provided with several rigid duct portions that are held so that they are be fixed at the vehicle, namely at the vehicle body, as well as at the wheel, namely at the wishbone, as well as adjacent to the brake disk at a guard plate. They are each connected with one another via flexible intermediate duct portions, in which case the rigid duct portions can be moved relative to one another together with their assorted vehicle components.

    Abstract: An incremental or absolute rotation encoder with a clamping device for connecting the encoder shaft to the drive shaft of a drive unit by means of a radial clamping action. A clamping element with a first sliding surface which is inclined relative to the axis of the encoder shaft is provided resting against a corresponding second inclined sliding surface at the end of the encoder shaft facing the connection with the drive shaft. An actuating element is capable of acting on the clamping element in axial direction. Since the two inclined surfaces rest slidingly on each other, the clamping element and the end of the encoder shaft are pressed in opposite radial directions against the drive shaft.

    Abstract: A removable folding roof for a motor vehicle, especially for a passenger motor vehicle, which extends between a windshield frame and a roll bar and which includes laterally disposed longitudinally extending girders, several struts extending parallel to the girders and a roof covering. The folding roof is detachably retained at the windshield frame and at the roll bar by means of locking mechanisms. To achieve an effective support of the folding roof and a simple assembly operation for latching and tensioning the folding roof to the vehicle body, the longitudinally extending girders are placed on the upwardly extending tensioning levers of the locking mechanisms which are then pivoted downwardly along with the edges of the top to a latched position. An automatic tensioning of the folding roof in the vehicle transverse direction and simultaneous latching of the roof to the vehicle body is achieved by the pivoting of the tensioning lever to a lowered position.

    Abstract: A control mechanism for a door of a motor vehicle is described that is actuated via an inside and outside handle and comprises a piston-cylinder unit arranged between a door post and the vehicle door. It has a piston provided with passage openings for a pressure medium, the piston interacting with an interior valve that separates two working chambers of the cylinder from one another. The control mechanism is equipped with a blocking valve controlling the medium flow, this blocking valve being arranged in a control circuit connecting the two working chambers of the cylinder, acting against the flow direction. This blocking valve, via a control element at a door handle, can be controlled in such a way that the door is blocked in at least one intermediate position. The cylinder has at least one overflow duct between the two working chambers, the flow-through of which is controlled by the piston of the unit. The duct extends over an area into which the piston dips, up to a door opening angle of about 30.degree.

    Abstract: A lifting sliding roof for a vehicle having a cover that is inserted into a cover opening and that, starting from a closed position, while lifting its rear edge, is tiltable into a tilted position and in this position is moved over the fixed part of the roof toward the rear into an open position. When the cover is lifted but rests against a front edge of the roof opening, air can flow via lateral gap areas and a rear gap area between the cover and the roof into the passenger compartment, but when the cover is tilted and is pushed to the rear at least partially, a sealing frame is provided that closes off the lateral gap areas and the rear gap area so that in this cover position, the air reaches the passenger compartment only through the area of the roof opening that is located in front of the cover.

    Abstract: Image setting apparatus is disclosed for producing two-dimensional image on photosensitive material. The apparatus includes a device for transporting the photosensitive material past an imaging line to provide a first dimension of the two-dimensional image, a controllable source of electromagnetic radiation (EMR) for producing a modulated EMR beam, a scanning device for converting the EMR beam into a scanning beam, and a scan lens in the path of the scanning beam to focus the beam spot on the photosensitive surface. The beam spot thus moves repeatedly along the imaging line to provide the other dimension of the two-dimensional image. According to the invention, the EMR source is controlled to switch the EMR beam on and off at a frequency which is adjusted to compensate for variations in the scanning speed of the beam spot along the imaging line.

    Abstract: An internal combustion engine equipped with at least one exhaust gas turbocharger whose compressor is connected by way of a charging pressure line to a suction manifold of the engine and whose turbine is inserted into an exhaust gas line coming from an exhaust gas manifold. A controllable blow-off valve (waste gate) is installed into a by-pass line coming from the exhaust gas line and by-passing the turbine while the compressor is adapted to be short-circuited by way of a vent valve. During the transition of the internal combustion engine into the coasting operation, the blow-off valve is activated into the closed condition for at least a limited time span. A loss of exhaust gas energy during a shifting operation is avoided thereby so that the internal combustion engine accelerates more rapidly after termination of the shifting operation.

    Abstract: In a photoelectric measuring device for measuring the position of two objects which can be rotated relative to each other, a grid located on a graduation support, which is connected with one of the objects, is scanned by a scanning device connected with the other object. To eliminate the eccentricity between the grid and the rotational axis of the graduation support, the light beam emitted by a light source is split in a first graduation area of the grid into two first order diffraction beams, at two diffraction angles. After two-fold deviation by two parallel mirrors, the first order diffraction beams are again joined, in a second graduation area of the grid that lies diametrically opposite the first graduation area. The first order diffraction beams join at the same diffraction angles at which they were emitted from the first graduation area of the grid. Consequently, the beams at the second graduation area are parallel to themselves as they were emitted at the first graduation area.
