  • Patent number: 8485981
Abstract: A system and a method for synchronizing operation between a patient monitoring device and a patient treatment device are disclosed. The patient monitoring device and the patient treatment device are operatively connected via a network, for example, a patient area network (PAN) or a local area network (LAN). A controller with a display is configured to accept user input via a graphic user interface (GUI) and display a patient's physiological data and operating parameters of both the patient monitoring device and the patient treatment device. The operation is synchronized by starting to operate the patient monitoring device at a predetermined operating state of the patient treatment device, and delaying changes in the operating state of the patient treatment device, until the operation of the monitoring device is concluded or the operating state of the patient treatment device indicates an abort condition.

  • Patent number: 8286088
Abstract: A system according to invention principles advantageously automatically displays a parameter value within the closest Flowsheet parameter acquisition time interval column. A user interface system provides patient medical parameter data for trend indicative display covering a time period comprising user selectable acquisition time intervals. The system includes an acquisition processor for acquiring, from a patient monitoring device, data representing a patient parameter comprising a plurality of data values at a corresponding plurality of different times within multiple user selectable patient parameter acquisition intervals of a time period. The data processor determines for a particular user selectable acquisition time interval a patient parameter data value closest in time to a center time point of the particular user selected acquisition time interval and excludes other patient parameter data values acquired within the particular user selectable acquisition time interval.

  • Patent number: 8274532
Abstract: A system adaptively orients a display image on a device for presenting data acquired via one or more cables connected to a particular side of the device. The system includes a sensor for detecting orientation of the device and providing a device orientation representative signal indicating whether the device is in a first orientation or a second orientation substantially different to the first orientation. A display screen presents display images on the device. A display generator automatically generates a display image on the display screen oriented to be upright in the first and second orientations of the device, in response to the orientation representative signal. A command processor adaptively selects functions assigned to user selectable buttons positioned on both sides of the display screen of the device, in response to the orientation representative signal.

An acquisition processor acquires, from a patient monitoring device, data representing a patient parameter comprising a plurality of data values at a corresponding plurality of different times within multiple user selectable patient parameter acquisition intervals of a time period. A generator generates data representing a first image showing a trend indicative display of the patient parameter covering a time period comprising user selectable acquisition time intervals and including a first number of data points in an individual acquisition time interval. The generator generates data representing an image window comprising an expansion of the individual acquisition time interval and including a second number of data points greater than the first number, in response to user command.

  • Patent number: 8172752
Abstract: A communication system is used by a portable patient monitoring device for connecting to other devices, including a docking station, via one or more networks. The communications system includes an adaptive communication interface which, when the patient monitoring device is docked, establishes communication with a first network, and receives from a first docking station a first unique identifier that identifies the first docking station, allowing the patient monitoring device to communicate patient parameters to the first destination. While the portable patient monitoring device is undocked, the adaptive communication interface is inhibited from establishing communication with a network providing an identifier to the portable patient monitor that does not match the first unique identifier.

  • Patent number: 7981032
Abstract: Some embodiments of the invention provide a system to monitor a patient. In some aspects, a signal representing a value of a physiological parameter is received from a monitoring device. The received value is a value that caused the monitoring device to trigger an alarm associated with the psychological parameter. A notification is determined based on the received signal and on a second signal that represents a value of a second physiological parameter. The notification is then presented to an operator.
