  • Patent number: 4862826
Abstract: In an apparatus for the continuous gluing of wood chips and the like with liquid glue, the chips are raised from a longitudinally moved chip bed and are returned into the same in free fall in the form of chip mists. The glue is exclusively supplied to the chips by pressure atomization by means of a plurality of pressure atomizing nozzles. In order to achieve good gluing quality with limited mixer dirtying and easy operation, glue distribution takes place in the chip mists substantially over the entire length of the chip bed and alternately at least one nozzle is closed, while at least one nozzle is open.

  • Patent number: 4848919
Abstract: A pinned mill for a mixer having a mixing mechanism has a motor outside the mixer container and a rotor inside the container and spaced apart from its walls. The rotor is rotationally drivable by the motor and is at least partly surrounded at a tangent by a stator having pins arranged concentrically with the rotor axis, the rotor being arranged inside the pins. The rotor is provided with elements defining a grinding gap with respect to the pins. In order to improved the grind performance without notably increasing the drive power, the rotor elements defining the grinding gap with respect to the stator pins are embodied only by vanes extending approximately radially to the rotor axis. The radially outer ends of the vanes have a cutting edge. The stator pins have an edge associated with the radially outer vane edges. The rotor is also embodied as substantialy open, inside the stator.

  • Patent number: 4848676
Abstract: An apparatus for regulating an agitator mill for comminution, deagglomeration and dispersion of grinding stock present in the form of a suspension is provided. To attain a constantly uniform grinding stock fineness, a device is provided for keeping the specific energy input constant, the specific energy input being determined by the quotient of the power introduced into the grinding stock and the grinding stock mass flow. A device is also provided for detecting the distribution of the auxiliary grinding bodies in the grinding chamber. The distribution of the auxiliary grinding bodies can be determined by detecting the pressure drop in the grinding chamber. Further, the distribution of the auxiliary grinding bodies can be detected by means of at least two partial cooling chambers connected parallel to one another, with individual heat flows being detected via the partial cooling chambers.

  • Patent number: 4527902
Abstract: In a method for the continuous addition of glue to a mixture consisting of wood chips, wood fibres or the like, the mixture is moved helically, in the form of a ring of mixture, through at least one glue-applying zone of a mixing container where glue is supplied to the mixture substantially radially from the inside of the ring of mixture. In order to achieve a particularly satisfactory distribution of glue over the chips or fibres with the use of little energy and so little destruction of the chips, the glue is very finely atomized in the space situated inside the ring of mixture and is supplied to the ring of mixture largely radially. For this purpose, glue nozzles, to which glue can be supplied under pressure by a glue proportioning pump, are mounted on the shaft of the mixing container.
