  • Patent number: 4514833
Abstract: A dispersing machine having a machine upright has a cantilevered machine head disposed thereon such that it can be raised and lowered by means of a lifting apparatus which can be acted upon by a pressure-medium pumping assembly. A rotatably drivable stirring apparatus is disposed on one cantilevered end of the machine head and is lowered into a container disposed beside the machine upright and connected with it in a releasable manner by means of a container holding device. The container holding device has at least two clamping members substantially receiving the container between them. In order to make it easier to initiate and release the clamping action exerted on the container, the container holding device is actuated by means of a pressure-medium motor, which is connected with the pressure-medium pumping assembly.

  • Patent number: 4394980
Abstract: A device for the simultaneous continuous feeding of pulverulent solids and of liquids into a treatment machine wherein the casing of the machine is provided with an orifice for feeding in liquids and solids. A feed branch extends upwardly from this orifice and leads into a ring passage. Positioned on the inner wall of the feed branch is an orifice for feeding liquids to the treatment machine and located in the center of the ring passage is a device for feeding solids to the treatment machine. The free cross-sectional size and shape of the orifice is adjustable and may be varied, in a simple manner, by modifications to the structures of the ring passage and orifices. In the cylindrical section of the feed branch several annular rows of bores, having differing diameters in each of the rows, form an orifice for the liquid feed. The bores within one row are arranged offset tangentially relatively to the direction of the adjacent bores in the other rows.

  • Patent number: 4382557
Abstract: A de-aerating agitating mill, especially for paints, pigments and the like in which the mixing chamber is closed off from a discharge chamber which may be subjected to reduced pressure. The closure is effected by a separator device consisting of a central disk which is attached to the stirrer or agitator shaft and rotates in a hole within a stationary part of the casing. A narrow, annular gap between the periphery of the disk and the rim of the hole acts as an outlet channel through which the ground or mixed stock is extruded. The shear stresses exerted on the stock rupture the material and burst any air bubbles which are then removed by the vacuum.

Abstract: A method of processing plastic material uses a device which operates in a batchwise fashion. The device includes a cylindrical container having a shaft disposed coaxially therein. The shaft is provided with mixing tools and can be driven at high speed. Material to be processed, and liquid if desired, is supplied to the container in pre-metered amounts, gelled by resultant frictional heat and granulated, if necessary, then expelled from the container. The material is supplied in a continuous, metered constant quantity stored temporarily and then fed into the container cyclically at predetermined intervals. The apparatus for carrying out the method includes at least one metering device which feeds an intermediate container and instrumentalities for cyclically emptying the intermediate container into the cylindrical container.

  • Patent number: 4316671
Abstract: An apparatus for mixing solid particles and a liquid, especially wood chips and glue. A motor-driven stirrer in a cylinderical trough continuously mixes the materials which enter at one end of the trough and are discharged at the other end. The outlet of the trough has a pivotable throttle with a counterweight which controls the degree of opening of the throttle. An electrical signal related to the load on the stirrer motor is the control signal for a control loop whose final control element displaces the counterweight to maintain the electrical load of the drive motor approximately constant.
