    Abstract: An oscillating water column (OWC) turbine and method of extracting energy therefrom is provided. The OWC turbine includes a shaft (101) rotatable about a central axis (103), and first and second ports (112, 114) disposed around the central axis. A flow passage (104) extends radially-inward from the ports and extends axially therebetween. Rotor blades (120) are coupled to the shaft, intersect the flow passage, and are offset from the central axis by a first distance. First guide vanes (116) intersect the flow passage and are disposed proximal the first port. The first guide vanes (116) include first and second stators (116a, b), the first stators (116a) being positioned between the first port (112) and the second stators (116b). Second guide vanes (118) intersect the flow passage and are disposed proximal the second port. The first and second guide vanes are offset from the central axis by a second distance that is greater than the first distance.

The hub portion may define an annular volume fluidly coupled with the plurality of arms. The cooling system may also include a blower impeller disposed in the annular volume and coupled with the rotary shaft. The blower impeller may be configured to rotate with the rotary shaft and draw a cooling fluid into the discharge assembly.

    Abstract: A turbine arrangement for a bi-directional reversing flow is provided. The turbine arrangement may include a rotor rotatably mounted to rotate about an axis of the turbine arrangement, and the rotor may have a plurality of rotor blades disposed circumferentially thereabout. A first set of guide vanes may be circumferentially disposed about the axis for directing the bi-directional reversing flow to and from the rotor blades via a first flow passaged defined by a first duct. A second set of guide vanes may be axially spaced from the first set of guide vanes and circumferentially disposed about the axis for directing the bi-directional reversing flow to and from the rotor blades via a second flow passage defined by a second duct. The guide vanes may be disposed at a greater radius than the rotor blades, such that the guide vanes are radially offset from the rotor blades.

    Abstract: A seal assembly is disclosed that can be used to seal a bearing case in a turbine. The seal assembly has an annular seal plate seated within a groove defined in the bearing case and radially-offset from the turbine shaft. A seal retainer is mounted on the shaft axially-offset from the annular seal plate and defines a channel therein for receiving and seating a seal therein. The seal has a flexible lip that extends from the body of the seal and engages either the inside surface of the bearing case or a counterface of the annular seal plate, thereby preventing or substantially restricting the influx of contaminants into the bearing case.

The method may further include cooling the natural gas in the cooled, compressed process stream to a supercritical state with the first and second refrigeration streams to thereby produce the liquefied natural gas.

The heated nozzle is then reshaped by a force exerted upon the inner shroud of the gas turbine, reducing the downstream deflection of the nozzle. After the deformation of the nozzle, an aft hook of the nozzle that has been adjusted by previous refurbishment efforts can be rebuilt to remove the previous adjustments.

    Abstract: Methods for retrofitting a turbomachine are provided. A first trip cup of the turbomachine may be replaced with a second trip cup. The first trip cup may include a throw-out arm connected to a first trip cup spring. The second trip cup may include a plunger disposed in a hole defined by the second trip cup and a plunger spring encircling the plunger in the hole. The first trip cup may be removed from the turbomachine and the second trip cup installed such that a location of the plunger in the turbomachine is the same as a location of the throw-out arm in the turbomachine when the first trip cup was installed on the turbomachine. The tension in the plunger spring may be adjusted such that, when a speed of the turbomachine exceeds a predetermined value, the plunger actuates a trip paddle located adjacent the second trip cup.
