  • Patent number: 8129370
Abstract: The invention relates to the use of lornoxicam or analogues thereof which inhibit cyclo-oxygenase 1 and cyclo-oxygenase 2 (COX 1 and COX 2), cannot penetrate the blood-brain barrier under physiological conditions, and reduce the prostaglandin E2-induced induction of the amyloid-precursor-protein (APP), for producing a pharmaceutical composition for the treatment or prevention of Alzheimer's disease or arteriosclerosis.

  • Patent number: 8097854
Abstract: The invention relates to a surface sensor (100, 200), comprising a frequency-selective surface with periodically arranged THz structures (1), in particular THz resonance structures (1) which are sensitive to THz radiation, a polarization axis (3) being associated with each structure. In order to improve remote field characteristics, the invention provides for a THz structure (1) to be configured asymmetrically, and a group of two or more THz structures (1) to have essentially centrosymmetrically aligned polarization axes (3) for forming a unit cell.

  • Publication number: 20110223747
Abstract: In a method for producing polycrystalline layers a sequence of layers is deposited on a substrate (1), the sequence of layers comprising an amorphous initial layer (4), a metallic activation layer (2) and an intermediate layer (3) disposed between the amorphous initial layer (4) and the activation layer (2). The intermediate layer (3) is produced on the basis of titanium. The sequence of layer is heat treated for producing a polycrystalline final layer at the location of the activation layer (2).

  • Publication number: 20110214711
Abstract: A solar cell has a substrate made of a textile planar structure. The textile planar structure is assembled from light transparent glass-fiber threads and electrically conductive, but non-transparent carbon-fiber threads. The glass-fiber threads serve as spacers and fillers for the carbon-fiber threads, so that sufficiently light transparent, closed interstices are created between the carbon-fiber threads, whereby the light can pass through the substrate. Semiconductor layers, which form a blocking layer in-between, are located on both sides of the thus-formed substrate. One electrode is generated by the carbon-fiber threads of the substrate.

  • Publication number: 20110034757
Abstract: An implantable reservoir body is provided which, as and when required, makes available a working medium that serves at least to inflate an implantable unit. An elastic hollow body is provided whose wall encloses a reservoir volume, and an induction coil arrangement is provided inside the reservoir volume and/or an induction coil arrangement is connected to the wall of the hollow body. The induction coil arrangement is connected to a pump/electronics unit provided inside or outside the hollow body, and a fluid channel is provided which leads out of the hollow body and which is connected to the pump unit and/or directly to the implanted unit that is to be inflated.
