Abstract: The present invention provides a System and method for multi-tiered data synchronization. Data is synchronized between a master synchronization server, one or more proxy synchronization servers, and client devices. Client devices establish synchronization sessions with either a proxy synchronization server or a master synchronization server, depending on which server provides the “best” available connection to that client device. Each proxy synchronization server synchronizes data with client devices that have established a synchronization session with such proxy synchronization server. The master synchronization server synchronizes data with client devices that have established a synchronization session with the master synchronization server. Each proxy synchronization server synchronizes data with the master synchronization server. Metadata associated with synchronized files is synchronized throughout the system in real-time. Files may be synchronized in real-time or of a delayed time.

Abstract: The present technology can provide a mechanism for providing a team member transfer interface to an administrator user for transferring team member user accounts from one team to another and also a mechanism for transferring the team member user accounts, such as by switching an assignment of one or more user accounts from a first team to another in a single atomic action. The transferring of the team member user accounts may also depend on passing a set of validation checks that check for inconsistencies that could cause an error in the transfer, and also updating access and privileges associated with being members of certain teams.

Abstract: The present disclosure is directed toward systems and methods that provide users with efficient and effective user experiences when browsing, selecting, or inspecting content items. More specifically, systems and methods described herein provide users the ability to easily and effectively select multiple content items via a single touch gesture (e.g., swipe gesture). Additionally, systems and methods disclosed herein can allow users to select various content items in a selection interface, preview a content item, and return to the selection interface with the previous selections remaining in tact. Still further, systems and methods described herein allow users to transition between a content graphical user interface and a selection interface based on touch gestures with content items.

Abstract: The present disclosure is directed toward systems, methods, and non-transitory computer readable media for generating contextual hubs for organizing and presenting web-accessible content from third-party sources. In particular, the systems described herein can organize and manage within a contextual hub. For instance, the disclosed systems may perform actions on tabs based on analyzing usage signals associated with the tabs. Furthermore, the disclosed systems can organize contextually related content within contextual hubs. The disclosed systems may also facilitate collaboration between users within a contextual hub by synchronizing interactions with content within a contextual hub.

Abstract: This disclosure generally covers systems and methods that identify relevant information for a user based on an object graph for documents and other files hosted by a document hosting system. In particular, certain embodiments of the disclosed systems and methods generate an object graph comprising interconnected nodes representing relationships among documents and other files on the document hosting system. Using the object graph, the disclosed systems and methods can identify relevant information and provide results or recommendations corresponding to that information based on a query or on user input, respectively.

Abstract: A system and method for protecting information managed by a content management system are disclosed herein. A first server of the content management system receives a request from a user or service to access a data item managed by the content management system. The first server determines a data type associated with the requested data item. The first server accesses a access control list to determine whether the user or service has permission to access data associated with the data type. The first server processes the request, based on a determination that the user or service has permissions to access data associated with the data type.

Abstract: The disclosed technology addresses the need in the art for providing workflow controls to shared content items stored on client devices, and enforcing content item check outs or content item locks for shared content items stored and accessed on client devices. The present technology further includes automatically locking a shared content item that is edited on a client device so that other team members cannot modify the content item. Accordingly, the present technology improves upon existing systems that provide workflow controls such as file check-in and checkout functionality by permitting users to access content items directly from the file system of their client device, and by providing automatic checkout and check-in functionality.

Abstract: Resynchronization of folders shared among multiple client devices over a network is provided. Metadata and hash values stored on the client device are moved from a metadata database to a resynchronization database, and the data in the metadata database is deleted. Metadata is created for locally stored synchronized files. For each file, the created metadata is compared to the metadata stored in the resynchronization database. If the metadata matches, hash values are retrieved from the resynchronization database and stored with the created metadata in the metadata database. If the metadata does not match, hashes for the file are created and stored with the created metadata in the metadata database. A synchronization operation may be performed which consists of comparing the files stored on the client to the synchronized versions on a host server and updating or adding files that are not present or not up to date.

Abstract: Disclosed are systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable storage media for shared folder backed integrated workspaces. In some implementations, a content management system can provide a graphical user interface (GUI) that integrates communications and content management into a single user interface. The user interface can include mechanisms that allow a user to provide input to generate a new workspace. The user interface can provide a mechanism to allow a user to view conversations related to the workspace and/or content items associated with the workspace. The user interface can present representations of content items associated with the workspace and allow the user to provide input to generate, view, edit, and share content items associated with the workspace.

Abstract: Generation of filtering rules for incoming messages can be activated by a user through a gesture-based input. When the user activates filtering rule generation, the message management service can cause a user device to display a prompt requesting additional data to be used to generate the filtering rule. The gesture can be a swipe and hold gesture, where the swipe is associated with an action (archiving, deleting, deferring, or adding the message to a list), and the swipe and hold action can activate filtering rule generation associated with the action.

The message management service can stage delivery of results to the client to reduce response time for identification of messages satisfying a query. Initially, the message management service can send information descriptive of results, which the client can display. Abstract: Technologies for synchronizing content items across cloud systems are provided. An example method can include receiving, by a first content management system (CMS), authentication information associated with a second CMS; based on the authentication information, establishing a communication channel between the first CMS and second CMS; using the communication channel, providing a user interface identifying collections of content items stored on the second CMS; receiving, by the first CMS, a request to create a first collection of content items based on a second collection of content items selected by a user account from the user interface, the second collection being stored on the second CMS; creating, by the first CMS, the first collection in association with the user account; populating the first collection with placeholders corresponding to content items in the second collection; and upon detecting a change to the second collection, updating the first collection to reflect the change.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and non-transitory computer readable storage media are disclosed for generating a customized organizational structure prior to uploading content items to a remote storage. For example, in one or more embodiments, the disclosed system identifies a set of content items to host on a remote storage and generates a visual representation of an organizational structure to be used for the content items at the remote storage. The system detects interactions modifying the organizational structure and provides the customized organizational structure to the remote storage prior to transmitting the content items. The system then transmits the set of content items to the remote storage in response to a transmission initiation event, and the remote storage stores the content items according to the customized organizational structure. In one or more embodiments, the system also allows the organizational structure and uploading of content items to be performed using different applications.

Abstract: In some embodiments, an interface of a content management system manages synchronized content on storage systems. For example, the interface stores, on a metadata storage structure, records of metadata associated with blocks of data stored on a storage, the records including block identifiers that uniquely identify the blocks and timestamps associated with the blocks. The interface identifies a batch of storage operations associated with the blocks, including one or more delete operations. For each delete operation, the interface queries the metadata storage structure for a timestamp corresponding to a block of data associated with the delete operation, determines whether the delete operation creates a race condition between the delete operation and an add operation associated with the block of data, and rejects the delete operation when the delete operation creates the race condition or the timestamp corresponding to the block of data is newer than a predetermined period of time.

Abstract: Disclosed are systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable storage media for managing email attachments in an online content management system. In some implementations, a messaging client can receive input attaching a content item to an electronic message in a message thread. In response to the input, the messaging client can store the content item in a file system managed by an online content management system, generate a link to the content item, and insert the link in the electronic message. The content item can be shared with the recipients of the electronic message such that the content item can be synchronized across recipient devices by the online content management system. The messaging client on each recipient device and/or the sender's device can present representations of the attachments associated with the message thread in a centralized location on a GUI of the messaging client.

For example, the content management system can collect, aggregate, and/or store task data assigned to a user from across projects and/or content items. The user can select to view tasks for a particular project and/or from across all projects. The content management system can generate a single graphical user interface for presenting the task data associated with the user. The content management system can generate a graphical user interface the allows the user to move tasks from one task status graphical element (e.g., task status container) to another task status graphical element to change the status of a task associated with the user. Thus, the user can quickly and easily view the tasks assigned to the user and update the status of tasks in an easy to use graphical user interface.

Abstract: Systems and methods for dynamic and automatic data storage scheme switching in a distributed data storage system. A machine learning-based policy for computing probable future content item access patterns based on historical content item access patterns is employed to dynamically and automatically switch the storage of content items (e.g., files, digital data, photos, text, audio, video, streaming content, cloud documents, etc.) between different data storage schemes. The different data storage schemes may have different data storage cost and different data access cost characteristics. For example, the different data storage schemes may encompass different types of data storage devices, different data compression schemes, and/or different data redundancy schemes.

Abstract: Computer-implemented techniques are disclosed for managing reusable collaborative content item components in a collaborative content management system. The techniques include providing locations in collaborative content items where users may store reusable components. When editing a collaborative content item, a user may select a portion, fragment or section of the collaborative content item content and save that as a reusable component. The reusable component is saved in a reusable component catalog. Other users may then insert the same component from the reusable component catalog t into their collaborative content items. When the component in the catalog is updated, other collaborative content items in the collaborative content management system that use that component are automatically updated as well.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer readable media for content item purging are provided. A contact item purger, such as may be incorporated within a local client application of a content management system running on a user device, may leverage knowledge as to which items have been uploaded to the content management system, and how long such content items have been stored on the user device, to propose items for deletion from the user device so as to reclaim storage space. A contact item purger may run on one or more user devices, and may activate upon various triggering events, based on various conditions and parameters, with or without user interaction, thus maintaining available memory capacity at all times.

Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for avoiding conflicting user actions while the users synchronously participate in collaborative video review based on joint state data for a video collaboration session. User actions may conflict, e.g., when a user submits a video playback instruction to change the current frame of the session while another user is performing a frame-specific action on the current frame. The video collaboration service freezes the current frame in joint state data based on detecting that a frame-specific action is being performed or is likely imminent. Detecting a freeze condition may be implicit or explicit. In order to unfreeze the current frame of the joint state data, no active freeze conditions may be in effect. Further, the freeze condition may be lifted implicitly or explicitly. A visual video freeze indication may be displayed by one or more client applications participating in the session while a freeze condition is active.
