Abstract: A multilayer card has (i) an opaque polyester film substrate (1) containing 0.2 to 30% by weight, relative to the total weight of the substrate, of at least one copolyesterether, (ii) an ink-receptive layer (2) on at least one surface of the substrate, and (iii) a cover layer (4) on the surface of the ink-receptive layer and/or surface of the substrate. The presence of the copolyesterether in the substrate reduces the tendency of the card to delaminate in use. Suitable for use, inter alia, in identification, magnetic, credit, pre-paid and smart cards.

Abstract: A conformable oriented polymeric film comprising a layer of copolyester derived from: (i) one or more diol(s); (ii) an aromatic dicarboxylic acid; and (iii) one or more aliphatic dicarboxylic acid(s) of the general formula CnH2n(COOH)2 wherein n is 2 to 8, wherein the aromatic dicarboxylic acid is present in the copolyester in an amount of from 60 to 85 mole % based on the total amount of dicarboxylic acid components in the copolyester, wherein the copolyester is a random or alternating copolyester, and wherein after deformation by subjecting and maintaining the film to 7% strain, the stress within the film immediately after deformation dissipates to a residual value of less than 60% of the original value within 10 minutes of said deformation; and use thereof as a conformable medium for signage, advertising, graphic art and other display applications or as an overlaminate for such media.

Abstract: A tear resistant seal made from a recyclable multilayer structure that consists of an oriented polymer film layer a thermal bonding polymer layer on the oriented polymer layer inner surface substantially coextensive thereto, and a reinforcing scrim polymer layer also having an inner surface adjacent and substantially coextensive with the thermal bonding polymer layer. The polymer film layer and the bonding polymer layer are co-extruded layers having a chemical composition that permits recycling without separating the layers. The scrim layer also has a similar chemical composition, permitting recycling following lamination, thereby permitting the recovery of waste material during production runs by the simple recycling of the complete laminated structure.

Abstract: Apparatus for winding a web (1) on a winding roll (2), comprises at least a first and a second roll (3, 4) and a third roll (5), said first roll being located on one side and said second roll and said third roll being located on the other side of the path of said web in course of winding on said winding roll. Said first and second rolls and said third roll are movable towards each other and towards said winding roll, so that said third roll get sandwiched between said winding roll on one hand and said first and second rolls on the other hand, said web passing between said first roll and said third roll and then between said third roll and said winding roll. Means cause said third roll to position and align freely between said first and second rolls and said winding roll.

Abstract: The invention relates to the chopping of thin webs, and notably to the chopping of edges trims of thin webs. It proposes a chopping device for thin webs, comprising an input section (10) for receiving the web to be chopped; an accelerating section (18) for accelerating the front end of the web received from the input section. Preferably, the device also comprises at least one puncturing means or knife (13) located between the input section and the accelerating section. The invention also relates to a process for chopping thin webs, comprising the steps of providing an incoming web and accelerating the front end of the incoming web so as to tear off said front end, e.g. by causing the web to contact a puncturing device.
