  • Patent number: 4696709
Abstract: A process for producing an expanded or foamed polyolefin panel with a decorative surface wherein a polyolefin or a mixture of a polyolefin with rubber and/or a synthetic resin miscible therewith is blended homogeneously with a crosslinking agent and a blowing agent and shaped into a panel-like matrix below the decomposition temperature of the blowing agent and the activation temperature of the crosslinking agent; a film of a thermoplastic synthetic resin, imprinted in accordance with a pattern with printing ink on one surface side, is applied unilaterally or bilaterally to the matrix, with the imprinted surface side facing the matrix; and then the matrix, with the film applied, is crosslinked and expanded by heating to a temperature above the activation of the crosslinking agent and the decomposition temperature of the blowing agent.

  • Patent number: 4677215
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for the production of silicon ester halides by the equilibration of chlorosilanes and silane esters. Organic phosphorous compounds are used as catalysts. These catalysts make it possible to obtain a virtually pure end product with a defined partial ester structure, and they reduce the formation of undesired by-products. The final distillation can also be performed in the presence of these catalysts without the occurrence of any disproportioning destruction of the reaction products.

  • Patent number: 4673760
Abstract: Disclosed is a process for preparing cis-trans isomer mixtures of 2,2-dimethyl-3(.beta.,.beta.-dichlorovinyl)-cyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid esters, having a high cis/trans isomer ratio, wherein a 4,4-dimethyl-5-halogen-6-alkoxytetrahydro-pyrone or a 3,3-dimethyl-4-halogen-5-oxo-pentanic acid ester is reacted with dichlorophosphonic acid esters in the presence of alkali alcoholates or alkali hydrides or lithium alkyls. Also disclosed are novel starting tetrahydropyrone compounds usable in the above process, and a process for preparation of the novel compounds which includes reacting .beta.,.beta.-dimethyl-.gamma.,.delta.-dihalogen-.delta.-valerolactones with alkali alcoholates at reaction temperatures between -10.degree. and +50.degree. • Patent number: 4673751
Abstract: A method for the preparation of 3,4-dihydro-alpha-pyrones by the thermolysis of 5-hydroxymethyl-gamma-butyrolactone in a liquid medium at temperatures between 300.degree. and 400.degree. C. and in the presence of aluminosilicates as catalysts is disclosed. The dihydropyrone that forms is distilled out of the reaction medium together with the reaction water immediately after its formation. Heat transfer oils, including, for example, polynuclear aromatic compounds joined together by methylene bridges or other bridge groupings, are especially suitable as heat transfer oils. The method has the advantage of permitting the temperature to be regulated within a definable range so that secondary reactions due to local overheating or imprecise temperature control occur to only a limited degree if at all.

  • Patent number: 4668763
Abstract: New hydroxyl polyesters fluid at room temperature, with low viscosities at relatively high molecular weight and very low setting points have alkyl side chains in substantially regular arrangement along preferably unbranched or only slightly branched polyester chains, and are formed by the reaction of monocarboxylic acids and/or monoalkanols or their esters of ethers or polyester building components with additional polyester-forming derivatives. The new polyesters can be used to special advantage, after functionalization, for coatings or as adhesives. Especially advantageous is the fact that they can be used without solvents or with a very low solvent content.

  • Patent number: 4645382
Abstract: Liquid or water-soluble pollutants which have entered into permeable soil strata are prevented from spreading and contaminating ground water by surrounding the contaminated zone on all sides with vertical barriers and closed off at the bottom by a horizontal injected floor which seals not only against water but also against the pollutants. The pollutant resistance of the floor is achieved by the use of injection materials on a silicate basis containing trialkoxysilanes of the general formula R-Si(OR').sub.3.

  • Patent number: 4643850
Abstract: Viscous, gel-like ester mixtures of reaction products of fatty acid polyol partial esters and gamma-glycidoxypropyltrialkoxysilanes, which can contain, if desired, dicarboxylic acids as additional reaction components, and methods for their preparation are disclosed. The ester mixtures are especially provided as additives for oily liquids for the preparation of gels or for increasing viscosity. Also, spreadable preparations are disclosed, which are produced from a component of oily consistency and, preferably, an active agent contained therein, which, because they contain the new ester mixtures, consisting of products of the reaction of partial esters of polyols of the aliphatic monocarboxylic acids and, in some cases, the aliphatic dicarboxylic acids, with gamma-glycidoxypropyltrialkoxysilanes of high ability to adhere to the skin, are difficult to wash from the skin and make the skin difficult to wet.

  • Patent number: 4642363
Abstract: A method for the continuous or batch preparation of trialkyl organo-oxysilanes by reaction of organic hydroxy compounds with trialkyl halogen silanes in the absence of acid-binding substances is disclosed. The organic hydroxy compound is added directly to the trialkoxy halogen silane in an amount which corresponds to no more than the stoichiometrically necessary amount. The trialkyl halogen silane, or the resultant mixture is always at the boiling temperature or above the boiling temperature in the gaseous state. The reaction mixture is subjected, no later than toward the end of the reaction, to a column distillation in which the column temperature is held such that the reaction is carried to the end within the column. In continuous operation, the trialkyl halogen silane is introduced in gaseous form into the bottom of a column and either kept under reflux or introduced into a reactor into which corresponding stoichiometric amounts of organic hydroxy compound are simultaneously introduced.

  • Patent number: 4621148
Abstract: New titanium chelates containing triethanolamine as chelating agent, plus one or two glycol ether groups bound to the titanium atom are disclosed. Solutions of these new titanium chelates, pure or solved in glycol ether, can be diluted with water such that even 1% aqueous solutions are stable and show no turbidity or precipitation even after several weeks of standing. The new compounds are obtained by the reaction of the known triethanolamine titanates with glycol ethers, followed by distillation of the alcohol that forms, plus the alcohol serving as solvent, if any.
