Patent number: 5750920Abstract: The current invention treats .alpha.-octogene which, with the aid of a new procedure, has been coated with synthetic materials in such a manner that it does not convert into .beta.-octogene at room temperature The coating is done at temperatures between 30.degree. and 60.degree. C. from an aqueous slurry; this causes granulates to form which can be heated to temperatures of 100.degree. C. without a rearrangement to .beta.-octogene to occur; even a grain growth does not take place. The granulates according to the invention are pourable and can be easily dosaged. .beta.-octogene can be coated in the same manner, particularly if it is coated as very fine grain of less than 50 .mu.m according to the invention. Thus, the current invention includes also the particularly fine .beta.-octogene, coated according to the current procedure, which shows the same properties as the required .alpha.-octogene.Type: GrantFiled: March 16, 1990Date of Patent: May 12, 1998Assignee: Dynamit Nobel AktiengesellschaftInventors: Klaus Redecker, Gunter Schreiner, Wolfgang Spranger

Patent number: 5660803Abstract: A liquified gas-containing generator has a casing in which a reaction container containing liquified gas is accommodated. So as to trigger combustion of the liquified gas a puncture element with an overflow channel is driven into the reaction container. The kinetic energy for the puncture element is generated pyrotechnically by initiation of an ignition element. The ignition gases of the ignition element pass via the overflow channel into the interior of the reaction container where these gases induce combustion of the liquified gas. The combustion gases arising thereby pass via the overflow channel out of the reaction container into a hollow space in which the puncture element is arranged. The hollow space is sealed in relation to a discharge passage by a bursting membrane. This bursting membrane bursts open when a minimum pressure of the combustion gases is reached and thereby opens the way for discharge of the combustion gases out of the casing via the discharge passage.Type: GrantFiled: December 8, 1993Date of Patent: August 26, 1997Assignee: Dynamit Nobel AktiengesellschaftInventors: Uwe Brede, Alfred Horr, Josef Kraft, Heinz Riess

Patent number: 5492065Abstract: A plastics cartridge has a cartridge body provided with a flange which has a plastic casing body, open on one side, is for accommodating a propellent charge and an ignition charge for igniting the propellant charge and has a plastics cover for closing the open end of the casing body. A flange is located on the end of the casing body on the cover side. if the cartridge body is inserted into the firing device, the flange extends into a space which passes out of a receiving chamber of a cartridge recess and is formed by cartridge recess and bottom of the breech of the firing device. In the section in which it extends in the propagation direction of the pressure wave arising on ignition of the propellent charge, the flange of the cartridge body is tapered--in the propagation direction--at least over a part of said section. The flange therefore forms a wedge which is inserted into the wedge-shaped space between the cartridge recess and bottom of the breech.Type: GrantFiled: January 26, 1994Date of Patent: February 20, 1996Assignee: Dynamit Nobel AktiengesellschaftInventors: Hans Jena, Kurt Ballreich

Patent number: 5446986Abstract: In a multiple-barrel firearm with removable lock housing, the two axially moveable strikers are arranged in superposed relationship, preferably being angular and provided with grooves or edges; this arrangement permits, even in case of only one solid sidewall, a favorable guidance of the strikers and contributes considerably toward making the lock housing very narrow. Since, in this firearm, the movement of a cocking bar just as the movement of firing pins takes place approximately in parallel to the movement of the strikers, the advantage is obtained in addition to a relatively simple structure that the energy for cocking coil springs guided by means of guide pins can be at a minimum as well. The guide pins connected with the strikers also take over safety functions.Type: GrantFiled: November 22, 1993Date of Patent: September 5, 1995Assignee: Dynamit Nobel AktiengesellschaftInventor: Horst Blaser

Patent number: 5415105Abstract: The invention relates to a tandem warhead with a preliminary charge (1) and a main charge (2) respectively each with an associated fuse (3, 4).So that on ignition two fuses (3, 4) which are completely identical can be used, piezoelectrical percussion fuses (3, 4) are used which can be triggered by shockwaves. To establish the delay period of the fuses (3, 4) the housing construction, the arrangement of the fuses (3, 4) and the material composition of the housing (5) are to be selected in such a way that the propagation time of the shockwave imparts the required delay period.Type: GrantFiled: November 29, 1993Date of Patent: May 16, 1995Assignee: Dynamit Nobel AktiengesellschaftInventors: Alfred Voss, Wolfgang Poetes

Patent number: 5394801Abstract: One fuse head has an insulating pole body with electrically conducting longitudinal strips, an incandescence bridge arranged on the pole body between the strips and connecting wires. The glow bridge and the connecting wires each being connected via soldered joints to the longitudinal strips. The fuse head also has at least one priming explosive and an external varnish finish coating covering the at least one priming explosive. To improve adherence, to facilitate the manufacturing process, to reduce the size of the solder joints, and to reduce the weight distribution of the priming explosive, it is proposed to arrange on the pole body, perpendicular to the pole body axis, grooves which are filled with priming explosive. Another fuse head has a basic module with electrically conducting pole supports running through it, the ends of the supports being connected on the ignition side via an incandescence bridge.Type: GrantFiled: October 29, 1993Date of Patent: March 7, 1995Assignee: Dynamit Nobel AktiengesellschaftInventors: Gunther Faber, Hans Florin

Patent number: 5388860Abstract: The safety device has a gas generator for generating gas, which is accommodated in a rigid housing. The housing is open at one side and is sealed in this region by an originally folded sheet of a gas cushion. When igniting the gas generator, the sheet unfolds outwards over the open side and forms the gas cushion filled with gas under pressure. The gas escapes by way of at least one escape opening, formed in a housing wall, with a variable effective cross-sectional area, when the passenger pitches into the gas cushion. The effective cross-sectional area is altered by a temperature-controlled escape opening-adjusting device so that at high gas internal pressures, the cross-sectional area is greater than at lower gas internal pressures. With this arrangement, the temperature-dependent alterations in the catching or impact reduction characteristic of the gas cushion are thereby compensated for.Type: GrantFiled: February 28, 1994Date of Patent: February 14, 1995Assignee: Dynamit Nobel AktiengesellschaftInventors: Uwe Brede, Josef Kraft
